Measuring visibility of disciplines on Chinese academic web

This study proposes a hierarchy affiliation model (department–school–university) to build network between web entities taking into account the domain names, the topological structure of academic network and the disciplinary characteristics of schools and universities synthetically. The study of the Chinese academic web based on the model shows that at the school level, 68 of 95 disciplines (71.6%) are identified from the directed school network and 71 from the undirected school network, respectively; at the university level, four out of seven broad disciplines are found. Furthermore, according to the comparative result based on three types of relations (hyperlinks, citations and collaborations) among universities, we would like to argue with cautions that the structure on academic web would potentially be more suitable to trace the interests in common between institutions.

Dhofar region in southern Oman possesses a wealth of livestock. This wealth is managed traditionally by different Dhofari groups in a distinct landscape and ecological conditions. By the seventies, development addressed all aspects of live in the Sultanate. Education turned out to be a prime objective in development plans. In Dhofar, young generations of pastoralists found their way into education. It is known that the route of education starts directly from primary school level to the university level. Consequently, theoretical university education detach and disengage young Dhofaris from their forefathers’ traditional profession and most of all their wealth. Dhofar’s livestock is unequivocally a national wealth that needs to be invested and developed by young Dhofari generations, trained in modern scientific management in order to investment in Dhofar’s livestock . Therefore, it is a call for a focused education and training to address the potential of the region and its wealth. The paper attempts to draw attention to a situation which is taking place in Dhofar region and proposes certain recommendations.

AbstractGames are a well-suited testbed for the development and evaluation of concepts and tools in artificial intelligence (AI). In our paper we outline the architecture of a web-based game server that was developed to support the teaching of artificial intelligence at the university level as well as research in the domain of AI and rule-based language development. The server combines a Prolog-based declarative approach with Java-based server technologies. The architecture consists of multiple, strictly separated components. Declarative components comprise the gameindependent core engine as well as game-dependent logic and visualization descriptions. General operations (e.g. user management, load balancing, match maintenance etc.) and rendering of the visualization descriptions with actual GUI techniques are implemented imperatively. External interfaces are provided to integrate remote developers and learners to facilitate usage beyond the borders of a single university.

Most students, both at the secondary school level and the university level, have a great deal of trouble understanding graphs. Even many of the best students seem to have inadequate intuition and understanding when confronted with a nonstandard problem involving interpretation of data represented graphically (see, e.g., Monk [1988]). Students need improved skill in interpretation of graphical data to respond better to information that assails them daily, both outside and inside the classroom. This article presents some suggestions for supplementing the traditional curriculum that serve to help develop the full power of graphs.

This systematic review study sought to examine the teaching of English language skills in Saudi Arabia by systematically analyzing the previous studies on language skills which were published within the past ten years and identify the research areas to be bridged in the future. The study employed the systematic review approach. The search strategy yielded 221 studies for inclusion in the systematic keyword map, and 95 studies for in-depth review. The findings of this systematic review revealed that students sampling presented (80.09%) in those studies, and female students participated in only (24.43%) of those studies. In addition, (73.30%) of the conducted studies were at the university level indicating a limit interest of the school-level research. In addition, (68.52%) of those studies focused on writings kills , reading skills and achievement indicating the necessity to give more attention to speaking, listening, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar research at all education sectors in the future. The in-depth review also indicated an obvious focus on reading and writing skills and most the studies were undertaken at the university level. The findings were discussed and a number of language skills research gaps were pointed out.

Good preparation of students to the profession of teacher is very important. In my research I focus on improving the quality of teacher's preparation at the university level, and through it at school level in the future. I present the proposal of teaching mathematics with the use of algorithmisation. It is possible, because solutions to many mathematical problems can be expressed in the form of an algorithm. The process of algorithmisation of mathematical issues is associated with various types of mathematical activities. Therefore algorithmisation of mathematical problems forces the students to perform various mathematical activities. This proposition deals with the problem of algorithmic computation of purely mathematical problems as well as those which deal with the problems of applying mathematics in everyday life. I consider algorithmisation as one of the forms of creating a mathematical model of a situation known from real world. Such interdisciplinary approach to teaching helps in developing students' skills better.

The importance of maintaining the quality of education of a country, making education in Indonesia also continues to make improvements both from the Elementary School level to the University level. At the University level alone, there is increasing competition between the State and Private Universities to produce more and more qualified graduates. So many universities are starting to think of strategies to win the competition. One of them by maintaining the Service Quality they provide. This study aims to determine the effect of Service Quality on Behavioral Intention or the tendency to behave, with perceived value and customer satisfaction as intervening variable high education students 2012-2016. The results of this study indicate that service quality has a positive and significant influence on perceived value and behavioral intentions, perceived value positively and significantly influence customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions, and customer satisfaction positively and significantly influence behavioral intentions. The results of this study also show that perceived value and customer satisfaction as intervening variables do not successfully mediate the relationship between service quality and behavioral intentions

Universities want to encourage faculty to keep curricula up-to-date and innovative, yet faculty dread the prospect of arguing about course and program changes with college and university curriculum committees – which are overworked and overwhelmed with detail. The Course Challenge Procedure (CCP) at the University of Saskatchewan is a collegial yet autonomous way for peer review and approval of new courses, and pre-requisite and program changes. It encourages more faculty members to be informed about curricular changes in other units, yet also allows for faster approval. The CCP can be implemented as a web-based, email, or paper distribution system, and used as the basis for integrated curriculum approval processes at the department, college, and university level.

The article addresses the problems of physical fitness assessmentand physical fitnessnormsin respect to foreign servicepersons who study in Russian military educational institutions. The general level of physical fitness inforeign enrollees is rather low, arguably due to the internal policies of other countries regarding physical culture and youth education and the personal attitude of servicepersons. As a result, suchprimary tasks of the educational process as physical training and improvement of moving motor abilities that would be typical for the university level, have to be replaced with general physicaldevelopment and learning of the secondary school level. Consequently, the inability to meetthe physical training standards becomes a challenge for many foreign military studentsduring thefoundation course and the first years of training. It takes more time for them to train themselves to meet the university level requirements to physical fitness and master the discipline of physical training. The relevance of the study roots the contradiction between the need for mastering a large amount of knowledge and skills, the low level of general and special training of foreign enrollees, and the demanding physical fitnessnorms for military personnel. The purpose of the study was to develop reference physical fitnessnorms that could be further readjusted, for foreign military enrollees. The study relied on such scientific and pedagogical methods as theoretical analysis of scientific literary sources, pedagogical observation, control physical fitness tests, mathematical and statistical data processing. The outcome of the study was the proposedreference norms for the exercises included in the control physical fitness battery for foreign enrollees. This approach to setting physical fitness norms can be applied both to one person and to a group of military students who fall behind in physical training, including servicepersons and students of civilian educational institutions. The proposednorms and the method of determining the physical training norms help foreign enrolleesto achieve the required minimum and get a positive grade in the first years of training, and to adapt to the specifics and content of the discipline.

This research will analyze the folklore of East Borneo in the form of myth about the hornbill descended down by Dayak Kenyah people associated with its relevance to the development of nation character. The theory used is the theory of 'layers of social reality'. The theory will reveal five layers of meaning contained in a system or symbol contained in culture and tradition. Starting from the meaning of layers of empirical meaning, to the meaning of the layer of world view at the level of ideas that store local wisdom. These findings will be formulated in the form of recommendations to specific parties, for example for the preparation of curriculum, especially local content subjects at the school level, and or for East Kalimantan Literature courses at the university level.
