Interest among employers is growing in employee financial wellness programs (EFWPs), a new type of benefit to address financial stress among employees. EFWP benefits include financial counseling, small-dollar loans, and savings programs that address employees’ nonretirement financial needs. Little evidence exists concerning the availability and use of and outcomes associated with EFWPs, especially among low- and moderate-income (LMI) workers who may be in the greatest need of these benefits. We present findings concerning awareness and use of EFWPs from a national survey of LMI workers ( N = 16,650). Availability of different EFWP benefits ranged from 11 to 15% and over a third of workers were unaware of whether their employer offered an EFWP. Experiencing financial difficulties predicted both EFWP awareness and use suggesting that employers should take time to assess employees’ specific financial challenges to select benefits. Yet, use of EFWPs by LMI workers may suggest the need for better compensation and work conditions.

Financial counseling has been found to be effective in improving consumers' credit outcomes and could be expanded through the workplace to reach lower-income workers who struggle with various financial challenges. We examine engagement and credit outcomes associated with a workplace financial counseling program offered to 2,849 frontline workers in New York City. Age and credit scores helped explain variation in types of engagement in services. Credit outcomes were modest on average, but greater among workers who received three or more counseling sessions, had low and no baseline credit scores, and reduced the number of delinquent and collections accounts on their credit reports. Workplace financial counseling is a promising strategy to proactively promote credit outcomes among frontline workers, though counselors should be flexible in offering services and help workers access affordable credit products available to those with subprime credit scores and increase financial slack to lessen dependence on credit.

This study had two distinct purposes. First, to determine the predictors of financial stress among college students who sought free peer-based financial counseling from a large Midwestern university (N = 675). Secondly, to determine the effectiveness of the particular financial counseling center from a subsample of those who sought help (N = 97). Results of the regression analysis indicate that students more likely to experience financial stress include freshmen, those with low perceived mastery and net worth, and those with median student loan debt as compared to those with no student loan debt. Results of t-test analyses suggest that financial counseling had positive effects on subjective financial knowledge and financial attitudes and mixed effects on financial behaviors.

Nowadays, people use financial wellness’s as terminology to understand the level of the individual’s financial condition. Previous researches show that although the persons have a lot of debts, they feel satisfied with their financial status. Conversely with those who are in good financial wellness with their wealth of life. Additionally, two elements have been discussed in relation to the income earner’s financial wellness which is economic well-being and financial well-being. Imbalance of financial wellness among low-medium income earners is due to reducing in employment opportunities, income instability and increase the number of family members. Therefore, personal financial management is important to ensure good or bad financial wellness among income earners. In this paper, financial literacy and financial stress are considered to determine the relationship of financial wellness. The result showed that both factors are significant with a strong positive relationship. It is important to describe the ability of income earners manage their money and apply the knowledge to make an effective financial decision. Thus, the organization should imply the financial education programs to their employees that can enhance financial literacy and reduce financial stress. Further research should be explored the other determinant factor such as financial self-efficacy and financial help-seeking behavior. These factors will improve the low-medium income earners’ financial wellness by seeking financial help as well as reducing financial stress.

Parental income is one of the factors that can influence a person's financial literacy. This is because one of the sources of income for students to live their lives is through financial resources from parents. Therefore, the finances obtained will determine how a person can manage their expenses. In addition, the reduction in parental income due to the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in reduced students income. Despite the reduction in income among parents, students still spend beyond their capacity and are unable to manage their finances properly. This is because low levels of financial literacy cause a person to be unable to manage his finances properly. Good financial management can help student undergraduates to avoid financial stress and other financial difficulties. Realising the issues and importance of financial literacy in life, there is research done to identify the relationship between parental income and financial literacy. But the results obtained by previous researchers are mixed. Therefore, the study focused on introducing a framework of concepts related to the relationship between parental income and the financial literacy of students and students.

This article critically examines the relation between work and utility and challenges the mainstream economic view of well-being as a hedonic state for which work is a less pleasurable trade-off. It proposes a conception of work as a potential source of eudaimonic well-being, providing meaning and contributing to human flourishing and self-realisation. Based on micro-level data, the article shows the relevance of distinguishing between hedonic and eudaimonic well-being by way of comparing the effects of increased financial difficulties and deteriorated work conditions on these two types of well-being in five European Union countries – Germany, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and the UK – in the post global financial crisis years between 2009 and 2014. The article concludes by underlining the political importance of addressing aspects pertaining to the quality of working life and of creating jobs that serve to improve the eudaimonic well-being of citizens. Radosavljević VR, Janković SM, Marinković JM. Stressful life events in the pathogenesis of Graves' disease. Eur J Endocrinol 1996;134:699–701. ISSN 0804–4643 A case-control study was conducted in order to assess possible relationships between life events and Graves' disease. The study included 100 newly diagnosed patients with Graves' disease and 100 controls matched with respect to sex, age (±2 years) and type of residence (rural, urban). Paykel's Interview for Recent Life Events (a semistructured research interview covering 61 life events) was administered to each subject. In comparison with controls, the patients claimed to have had significantly more life events in the 12 months preceding the diagnosis (p = 0.0001). The following eight life events were significantly more prevalent among patients than controls: change in time spent on work (much overtime work, second job, much less work than usual) (McNemar = 12.04; RR= 7.00;95%CI= 2.35–20.80;p= 0.0001), unemployment for at least 1 month (McNemar = 4.00; RR = 8.00; 95%CI = 1.04–61.39; p = 0.039), arguments with one's superior at work or a coworker (McNemar = 4.50; RR = 3.50; 95%CI = 1.10–11.08; p = 0.031), change in the work conditions (new company division, new chief, large reorganization) (McNemar = 4.26; RR = 4.00; 95%CI = 1.07–14.92; p = 0.035), increased arguments with spouse (McNemar = 6.75; RR = 11.00; 95%CI = 1.82–66.44; p = 0.006), increased arguments with fiancé/fiancée or a steady date (McNemar = 4.00; RR = 8.00; 95%CI = 1.04–61.39; p = 0.039), hospitalization of a family member for serious illness (McNemar = 3.76; RR = 3.25; 95%CI = 1.01–10.68; p = 0.049) and moderate financial difficulties (McNemar = 8.50; RR = 3.25; 95%CI = 1.47–7.16; p = 0.003). Our findings indicate that life events may be a risk factor for Graves' disease. Slavenka Janković, Institute of Epidemiology, Višegradska 26, PO Box 456, 11000 Belgrade, Yugoslavia

Construction of this text is the result of a bibliographical and document research in which we try to understand the main determinations placed on teacher training are since the approval of the current Law of Directives and Bases of National Education (LDB - Law nº 9.394/1996). Discussions showed that despite advances proposed by current legislation, there is still a need to invest in implementation of policies that integrate training, career, remuneration and decent working conditions. In addition, the existence of different types of teacher training organization has been registered, as well as a diversity of institutions that have contributed to the precariousness of teaching work. In contrast, the teacher can also become a new type of intellectualized worker, potentializing the possibility of the teacher training himself against the hegemonic perspective, dominating beyond the knowledge required by capital, those that allow him to have a critical understanding of the world and the social relations and production under the aegis of capital. Keywords: Teacher training.
