Change comes as a surprise because things do not happen in a straight line. Concepts often evolve haphazardly, reacting to specific events. Assumptions are made but are not challenged, sometimes for political or social expedience. It has long been recognized that the dose makes the poison. Concepts of the relationship evolved from both events and the availability of exploratory tools. There are consequences to risk aversion. The general concept of hormesis is perhaps not unexpected. The acceptance of multiphasic dose-responses has the potential to unleash additional and productive insights into this relationship. The activities of BELLE and its Newsletter provide an excellent example of what can be achieved when dogmas are challenged by the accrual of information that has not been previously examined to see whether additional insights are possible. A forthcoming challenge will be the critical examination of all the inputs and assumptions that will be used in the increasing sophistication of biological modeling.

AbstractThis study discusses the relation between religion and democracy; critical examination of the existence of Islamic parties in Indonesia. This study is a qualitative study based on library (library research). The approach used is descriptive qualitative which aims to illustrate or describe the reality that exists or what is happening or the actual reality of the object under study. Then interpreted in the form of a report. The approach used is the cultural anthropology approach. The results of this study indicate that Muslims interpret the relationship of religion and democracy to occur in three models, namely the negative, neutral and positive models. In the context of Islamic political parties in Indonesia, the basic problem is the inability of parties to package democratic issues, starting from the emergence of religious sentiment, politicization of religion, political pragmatism in PKS parties. Furthermore, the PPP party has problems with party regeneration, leadership dualism, and political attitudes. Whereas the UN party is seen in the absence of a leader figure and political culture.

During the last few years of his life Prof. Simon Newcomb was keenly interested in the problem of periodicities, and devised a new method for their investigation. This method is explained, and to some extent applied, in a paper entitled "A Search for Fluctuations in the Sun's Thermal Radiation through their Influence on Terrestrial Temperature." The importance of the question justifies a critical examination of the relationship of the older methods to that of Newcomb, and though I do not agree with his contention that his process gives us more than can be obtained from Fourier's analysis, it has the advantage of great simplicity in its numerical work, and should prove useful in a certain, though I am afraid, very limited field. Let f ( t ) represent a function of a variable which we may take to be the time, and let the average value of the function be zero. Newcomb examines the sum of the series f ( t 1 ) f ( t 1 + τ) + f ( t 2 ) f ( t 2 + τ) + f ( t 3 ) f ( t 3 + τ) + ..., where t 1 , t 2 , etc., are definite values of the variable which are taken to lie at equal distances from each other. If the function be periodic so as to repeat itself after an interval τ, the products are all squares and each term is positive. If, on the other hand, the periodic time be 2τ, each product will be negative and the sum itself therefore negative. It is easy to see that if τ be varied continuously the sum of the series passes through maxima and minima, and the maxima will indicated the periodic time, or any of its multiples.

This paper addresses the deconstructive questioning of the international economic expression of the LLC/Limited Liabilty Company and its role in global capitalism. Through an analysis of its constitutive notions in the context of post-Fordist production and the relationship to the issue of creativity, my goal is to demonstrate the opposite of the confirmation that such an expression emphasizes in the language and enables in reality. My thesis is to prove that today the multitude is acting within the limitless potential of human, social and cultural creativity. My intent in this paper is to prove that the tone of the meaning of the term LLC/Limited Liability Company is imposed by capitalist society and that may be aimed at subversive action on the capacity of the multitude. In this process, Derridan deconstruction serves to analyze the LLC through the concepts of sociability, responsibility, and limitation. Areas of interest are the strategy of Hannah Arendt’s entry into the essence of bios politicos and the way in which life is organized; Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of the identity of today’s liquid modernity and the concept of identity as such in it; and Paolo Virno’s implementation of the notion of a creative multitude as well as his evidence for the consequences of the paradoxical post-Fordist economy. In methodological terms, a critical examination of the relationship between creativity, capital and society is offered that focuses on understanding the crossings and paradoxes in permanent becoming. Article received: March 28, 2018; Article accepted: April 10, 2018; Published online: September 15, 2018; Preliminary report – Short CommunicationsHow to cite this article: Lagator Pejović, Irena. The article examines the process of formation of the power supply industry in the 2000s using the example of a separate region. The market transformation of RAO UES was carried out under the slogan of increasing the efficiency and reliability of interaction between the economy and the energy sector. However, in practice, the creation of the energy market faced many problems, the specifics of the “special product” electricity, network problems, institutional and other problems. On the example of the Altai Territory, the genesis of the territorial power supply system is shown within the framework of the general concept of market reform of the electric power industry. On the basis of real data of the supplier of last resort and the real consumer of electricity and capacity, a retrospective of the relationship of these entities in practice is shown. The dynamics of the average price for electricity is calculated and its quite significant growth is shown for the entire post-reform period of observations.

SUMMARYA certain amount of material is provided for studying the heredity of fissures of the iris, and it seems that such a heredity is probably not of monohybrid nature. The relationship between fissures and pigmentation of the iris has been confirmed and noted also by earlier researches. This connection may be explained by the fact that fissures of the iris-appearing even earlier, during embriological development—leave fewer chromatophores in the stratum limitans anterior for the formation of pigment. It thus follows that the colour of the iris, which is determined by comparing it with table of colours of the eye, would not be of monohybrid heredity. It is doubtful even when both colour and structure of the iris are contemporaneously studied in order to realise a polysymptomatic resemblance—as for the diagnosis of monovular twins of the diagnostic of paternity—since the logical basis for establishing a polysymptomatic comparison of resemblance is, in fact, given by the independance of partial signs connected one with another. This goes for all cases, whether or no statistical methods are used for the critical examination of such researches, such as, for example, Essen-Möller's formula (3,4) (Wichmann 22, 23).

The study begins with a critical examination of two opposing, theories of nationalism. Next, the relationship between the State and nationalism in the form of the nation state is seen as a process of social formation during which a compromise is established between public and private elites, and the people: loyalty is exchanged for the right to participate in social rights. In the third part, the author considers the future of a number of Southern states in relation to the fundamentals of nation formation.

1 The dose—response data for the induction of mesothelioma, in rats, by the intrapleural administration of the fibrous zeolite, erionite, has been compared to the published data for the crocidolite and chrysotile forms of asbestos. Erionite is more than two orders of magnitude more carcinogenic than either of the two forms of asbestos examined. 2 The relative sensitivity of the intrapleural and intraperitoneal routes of injection were also examined. The sensitivity of the intraperitoneal over the intrapleural route of administration was considerably greater for all the forms of asbestos examined but not for erionite. 3 The relationship for different fibres, between the number of fibres required to give animals mesothelioma, at the 50% or 10% observable tumour effect level (OTEL) was examined, and a ranking of relative carcinogenicity was made. 4 This showed that the data derived from the dose responses obtained by the intrapleural administration of fibres to rats ranked the relative carcinogenicity of erionite, crocidolite and chrysotile in accord with the known clinical mesothelioma induction in man after exposure to these fibres. Examination of the carcinogenicity ranking from data derived from intraperitoneal injections of fibres was not in accord with the known clinical mesothelioma induction in man for the various asbestos types examined.

The relationship between right atrial pressure (Pra) and venous return describes a venous return curve. Because changes in venous return and right ventricular stroke volume (SVRV) are similar during small tidal volume (VT) breathing, we compared the relationship of SVRV and Pra during positive-pressure ventilation (VT less than 10 ml/kg) in 17 pentobarbital-anesthetized, closed-chest, canine preparations. The SVRV-Pra relationship describes a straight line with a negative slope and a positive mean systemic pressure (Pms)-zero flow intercept (instantaneous Pms). Instantaneous Pms is similar to ventricular fibrillation-induced (stop-flow) Pms (8.1 +/- 0.8 vs. 8.4 +/- 0.7 mmHg, mean +/- SE). With volume infusion, both instantaneous and stop-flow Pms increase to a similar degree (R = 0.9014, P less than 0.001). The effect of opening an arteriovenous fistula is time dependent and variable between dogs, but by 30 s it is associated with an increase in instantaneous Pms (5.2 +/- 3.2 mmHg). Vascular compliance determined by adding and removing blood from the intravascular space displays a curvilinear hysteresis. The instantaneous venous return curve is affected by intravascular blood volume, vasomotor tone, and resistance to venous return. The relationship between SVRV and Pra during small VT breathing define instantaneous venous return curves similar to those described using right-heart bypass preparations.

The sharp rise in prices in recent years has stirred up a brisk debate on the meaning and measurement of business income. In computing income, costs of labour and material are generally reflected in current prices, but the provision made for depreciation is generally not sufficient to replace fixed assets. This paper investigates various approaches to the oroblem of providing sufficient depreciation allowance in measuring income. The relationship between written down value and the straight line inflation adjusted method of providing depreciation has been examined. Simulation technique has been used to illustrate the problem and pertinent policy implications of the use of various depreciation methods have been highlighted.
