The previous literature highlighted the importance of export assistance to uplift export activities of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs). However, those studies could not test the feasibility of introduced export assistance for the targeted population. This study focuses on export assistance provided by the government institutions to the handloom exporters and its relationship with their perceived quantitative export performance. A detailed literature review of the existing export assistance programmes led to the categorization in four aspects, that is, financial support, informational support, facilitating support, and education/training support. A model is proposed based on identified variables depicting the relationship between export assistance and handloom exporters’ perceived quantitative export performance. In order to develop the model, first-order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was initially applied for validity measures. Subsequently, second-order CFA was applied due to the presence of multicollinearity among the variables due to the undistinguishable response of the chosen sample units towards export assistance. Thus, the study investigated the relationship of each of the four identified export assistance elements with the quantitative performance of Handloom exporters.

The indicator that can be used to measure of status health mother in certain region such as using number of maternal mortality (Angka Kematian Ibu / AKI). AKI is one of indicator that sensitive about quality and an access to facility health service. One of factor that contributed to maternal mortality is factors that complicate of process handling emergency such as TIGA TERLAMBAT. It used to press AKI, the government made programs. The program is Program Perencanaan Persalinan dan Pencegahan Komplikasi (P4K) and Kediri was held program Gerakan Menekan Angka Kematian Ibu dan Bayi (GEMAKIBA). The aim of this research is to know the relationship of motivation performance cadre at GEMAKIBA’s program at Sukorame district Kediri city region performance of clinic Sukorame. The research design is survey analytic. The approach is cross sectional, the population is 45 persons of cadre. The sampling uses simple random sampling with 41 respondences of cadre that fulfil of inclusive criteria. The instrument used questioner to assess of motivation, checklist to assess of performance and recapitulation sheet to make a note the result of data. Then the data was analyzed with correlation spearman rank that showed there is a relathionship between motivation and performance cadre at GEMAKIBA’s program. Based on the result of the research above it should be became a material to maintain and enhance motivation for more comprehensive program’s outcomes.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mediating effect of responsive market orientation (RMO) on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and performance in small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in Oman. The study specifically investigates whether there is a mediating effect of responsive market orientation in the hypothesized relationships. A field survey was used to collect data from 175 SMEs. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to conduct a confirmatory factor analysis and Andrew Hay’s process macro was used to compute the mediating effect of RMO on the relationship between EO and SME’s performance. While the results indicate a significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance, responsive market orientation was found to be the mediator in the relationship (i.e. between EO and performance). The study underscores the importance of entrepreneurial and responsive market orientation for managers and owners of SMEs in Oman in order to compete and grow in regional market of GCC.

Purpose – The existing government processes are often not able to cope-up with the dynamic context of e-governance due to their rigid character as reflected in the dismal performance of e-governance projects. In this article, flexibility of the key processes and e-governance performance have been analyzed based on six agriculture related projects in India. The analysis has brought out implications for researchers, practitioners and society. Design/methodology/approach – Based on a review of literature, new constructs have been proposed and hypothesis formulated to study flexibility of processes and performance of e-governance. The empirical part of the study involves an opinion survey of officers involved in planning of the identified projects. The proposed constructs have been validated based on reliability and confirmatory factor analysis and used further for statistical analysis and interpretation. Findings – The research has revealed that “flexibility of processes” is a predictor of “performance of e-governance”. The analysis has further reflected the need for reengineering of conventional processes by embedding “change mechanisms” in processes for improving e-governance performance. Practical implication – The findings of this article are expected to sensitize the government officials and other actors involved in the planning and implementation of e-governance projects to analyse the underlying processes from the perspective of flexibility and take measures for transforming the conventional rigid processes into versatile and adaptive processes by introducing change mechanisms. Such redesigned processes are expected to lead to better performance of e-governance initiatives. Originality/value – This paper attempts to address the gap with respect to the lack of measures for analysing the relationship between flexibility of processes and performance of e-governance projects. The article opens the door for further research in terms of defining additional constructs such as “changing situation” and “competence level of actors” and exploring their predictive relationships with “performance of e-governance”. The context-specific interpretations of validated linkages influencing performance shall provide the base for arriving at an empirically founded synthesized strategic framework for improving the performance of e-governance projects.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the contingent relationship between government marketing assistance for export and the performance of early internationalizing firms in a developing country’s low-tech industry. Design/methodology/approach – The authors employ hierarchical multiple regression based on the data obtained from Bangladesh, a south Asian developing country and a leading exporter of apparel products worldwide. The authors used a sample of 224 early internationalizing apparel firms to test the hypotheses. Findings – Research describes the relationship between export assistance and performance as direct. Recently, some researchers have suggested moderators between them. The authors argue that the relationship between the two is contingent on the level of export commitment. The authors find that neither informational nor experiential marketing assistance is directly related to export performance. The relationship between informational assistance and export performance is significantly, but (unexpectedly) negatively, moderated by export commitment. The effect of experiential assistance is positively, but only marginally, moderated by export commitment. Originality/value – Contrary to researchers’ overarching focus on a direct relationship, the authors investigate the moderation on the relationship between export informational and experiential marketing assistance, and early internationalizing firms’ performance in a developing country’s low-tech industry setting. The authors use export commitment as the moderator; it is one of the most important internal determinants of export performance and extremely relevant in early internationalizing firms. The differential impact of informational and experiential assistance provides additional insights.

Abstract. Identifying pilot attributes associated with risk is important, especially in general aviation where pilot error is implicated in most accidents. This research examined the relationship of pilot age, expertise, and cognitive functioning to deviations from an ideal circuit trajectory. In all, 54 pilots, of varying age, flew a Cessna 172 simulator. Cognitive measures were obtained using the CogScreen-AE ( Kay, 1995 ). Older age and lower levels of expertise and cognitive functioning were associated with significantly greater flight path deviations. The relationship between age and performance was fully mediated by a cluster of cognitive factors: speed and working memory, visual attention, and cognitive flexibility. These findings add to the literature showing that age-related changes in cognition may impact pilot performance.

What do growth-oriented business models look like? While several economic theories, such as the theory of the firm, are based on the assumption that firms aim to maximise their profits, past research has shown that growth intention is heterogeneous among firms and that many business owners prefer to keep their firm at a size that they can manage with few resources. This paper explores the relationship of growth intention and business models, based on a sample of 135 German ICT businesses. Following an exploratory approach, Mann–Whitney U tests are applied to analyse how different business model designs correspond with different levels of growth intention. The results indicate that growth intention relates to business owners’ decisions regarding the provision of consulting services, the level of standardisation in offered products and services, the choice of addressed markets, the implementation of competitive strategies based on cost efficiency and of revenue streams based on one-time- and performance-based payments. Furthermore, the results show that growth oriented firms are no more likely than non-growth oriented firms to adapt their business models dynamically to changed internal or external conditions.

The purpose of this research is to determine the organizational support for professionalism that has never been done before. The research approach is to conceptualize the structure of the relationship of variables from a study. Verification research is to test the hypothesis through data collection in the field using two methods, namely descriptive survey and explanatory survey. The use of both methods aims to analyze the causality relationship between research variables in accordance with the hypothesis quantitatively. There is significant influence between the variables of organizational support to professional variables. However, different results are found on the influence of organizational support variables on OCB and performance that have no significant effect. There is also an indirect influence between organizational support variables on OCB and performance through intermediary intervening professionalism variables. The difference between this research and the previous research are the use of constructs and the measurement in the unit of analysis being used.

The present paper is a study of axillary temperature and performance during the waking part of the day and the relationship of these two variables to Morningness-Eveningness preferences. A reduced scale of the Home and Östberg questionnaire was adapted and standardized for the Spanish population, and 3 groups of subjects were formed (Morning-types: 3 men, 2 women; Neither-type: 3 men, 6 women; Evening-types: 1 man, 4 women). Three different tasks were tested, auditory reaction time (to measure alertness and speed), index finger tapping (motor skill), and verbal memory (information processing). The subjects were tested hourly in 13 sessions spread out over the day. Morningness-Eveningness preference groups did not differ in temperature and performance. Neither-type subjects did not present values intermediate between those of the Morning- and Evening-types.

Abstract Introduction Noninvasive tests are increasingly used to assess liver fibrosis and determine prognosis but suggested test thresholds vary. We describe the selection of standardized thresholds for the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) test for the detection of liver fibrosis and for prognostication in chronic liver disease. Methods A Delphi method was used to identify thresholds for the ELF test to predict histological liver fibrosis stages, including cirrhosis, using data derived from 921 patients in the EUROGOLF cohort. These thresholds were then used to determine the prognostic performance of ELF in a subset of 457 patients followed for a mean of 5 years. Results The Delphi panel selected sensitivity of 85% for the detection of fibrosis and >95% specificity for cirrhosis. The corresponding thresholds were 7.7, 9.8, and 11.3. Eighty-five percent of patients with mild or worse fibrosis had an ELF score ≥7.7. The sensitivity for cirrhosis of ELF ≥9.8 was 76%. ELF ≥11.3 was 97% specific for cirrhosis. ELF scores show a near-linear relationship with Ishak fibrosis stages. Relative to the <7.7 group, the hazard ratios for a liver-related outcome at 5 years were 21.00 (95% CI, 2.68–164.65) and 71.04 (95% CI, 9.4–536.7) in the 9.8 to <11.3 and ≥11.3 subgroups, respectively. Conclusion The selection of standard thresholds for detection and prognosis of liver fibrosis is described and their performance reported. These thresholds should prove useful in both interpreting and explaining test results and when considering the relationship of ELF score to Ishak stage in the context of monitoring.
