An important aspect of human mating is to appeal to prospective mates. Accordingly, the current research attempted to identify the strategies that people use in order to become more attractive as prospective intimate partners. More specifically, using open-ended questionnaires in a sample of 326 Greek-speaking participants, we identified 87 acts that people performed in order to become more attractive as mates. By using quantitative research methods in a sample of 2,197 Greek-speaking participants, we classified these acts into 16 different strategies. We found that, enhancing one's looks and becoming more pleasant, were among the most preferred strategies. Women were more likely than men to adopt strategies that involved looks, while men were more likely than women to adopt strategies that involved resource acquisition capacity. Moreover, age effects were found for most strategies. The identified strategies were classified into two broader domains, one aiming to develop and demonstrate fitness-increasing qualities, and the other to deceive about fitness-impairing traits.

This research investigates the effect of crowdfunding on entrepreneurship. The population of the study includes Jordanian entrepreneurs, (200) questionnaires were distributed among 200 Jordanian entrepreneurs; the (200) questionnaires were all collected. The researcher used the quantitative research methods in the form of simple liner regression and multi regression. The study confirms that there is a positive impact of crowdfunding on entrepreneurship in general as well as entrepreneurs’ freedom of innovation and value of creation. In addition, it was realized that out of the four investigated crowdfunding methods:  reward, pre-purchasing, donation, equity and lending, the pre-purchasing method has the most positive influence on entrepreneurship freedom of innovation and value of creation. On the other hand, reward, equity, and lending did not contribute any significant effect on entrepreneurship’s value of creation and freedom of innovation compared to the latter two. Furthermore, both crowdfunding processes of all-or- nothing and keep-it-all have significant effect on entrepreneurship with the latter process having a more significant effect than the former.  This study confirmed the positive effect of crowdfunding methods and processes on Jordanian entrepreneurship in term of value of creation and freedom of innovation.

Worship is an action that is not foreign to humans in the sense that every human being basically commits an act of worship (homo adorance). So that basically every human being must worship something. Especially for people who are religious, of course they realize that there are people who exceed everything called God / ALLAH.               It becomes a problem when sin enters humans, which causes a blurred image of Allah and results in an inaccurate / distorted object of worship that God should be something else. On the other hand, Allah gives freedom to humans to express their worship to Allah which makes people feel that the worship they have done is correct and even feel that the worship they do is the most correct.Jesus in John 4: 1-26 then provides the standard for being a true worshiper, that is, a worshiper who worships in spirit and in truth. This benchmark then becomes a benchmark for researchers to measure and examine the implementation of true worshipers based on John 4: 1-26 among the National Church level congregations throughout the city of Jember. This research uses quantitative research methods with survey and confirmatory methods consisting of the first, literature study or literature study as a basis for a true worshiper theory based on John 4: 1-26. Second, in the form of a statement survey or questionnaire made to identify the correct level of implementation of worshipers based on John 4: 1-26 among the National Church level congregations in Jember which was initially tested for validation by 4 doctors, then construct tests were carried out through orthogonal iterations. 30 samples, then 35 questionnaire items were submitted as the final test to 150 samples.

This paper is to examine the IPv6 in Palestine and to examine where are Palestinian companies in the deployment process. Also, to examine if the infrastructure can withstand the transition to IPv6 or not. This study used quantitative research methods and collect the data through a survey from the Internet companies in Palestine as reported anonymously. Due to the lack of research related to the internet in Palestine, we saw that it is necessary to discover the internet companies and how much they achieved of the deployment process. The collected data have been analyzed and described using SPSS. The data analysis showed that one internet company representing 11% of the companies in Palestine did apply the transition process to IPv6, and the percentages have set a positive indicator for the transition process. It turns out that the other companies on their way to start deploying the IPv6.

The evidence suggests that about 90% of all startups fail; so to what extend does innovation enable the startups to survive? This paper investigates key variables that drive startups’ innovativeness, and analyzes how important they are in creating new products and patents consequently impacting the start-up’s performance (success). The paper uses the database of ZEW with more than 60.000 observations about the startups through 7 years (2007-2016). The study puts forward a conceptual model that is tested using quantitative research methods. It concludes that there are evidences to support some of the seven hypotheses tested. The results show that innovation has an effect on a start-ups’ performance, and that variables such as investment, industry, start-up size, founder’s highest qualification, and graduated employees all have an effect on boosting the chances of having more innovativeness in the start-ups, thus resulting in a rise in performance. On the other hand, the evidence did not show a significant effect of the startup centers (accelerators, incubators) and their services vis-à-vis startups’ performance; however, startups centers had a significant effect on startups’ innovativeness.

In practice, waqf in Indonesia faces many hard problems, because commonly known as non-productive waqf. Talking about waqf, it’s not only as religious rituality but also could touch humanity aspect by empowering its potency to maximize public wealth. On the other hand, the research related to waqf is still very lack, but it is very important to do. This study reviews on research around waqf. The study used descriptive statistical analysis based on 100 journal publications related to waqf, both national and international journal. The entire sample journal publications have published last 5 years from 2011 to 2015. Results show that the waqf research is still dominated by the discussion of non-cash waqf (62%) then the cash waqf (38%). This gives a general overview for researchers to produce better research related to cash waqf. In addition, comparison of quantitative research methods is still far less than the qualitative approach.DOI: 10.15408/etk.v15i1.3110

For some, research in learning and teaching of a second language (L2) runs the risk of disintegrating into irreconcilable approaches to L2 learning and use. On the one side, we find researchers investigating linguistic-cognitive issues, often using quantitative research methods including inferential statistics; on the other side, we find researchers working on the basis of sociocultural or sociocognitive views, often using qualitative research methods including case studies and ethnography. Is there a gap in research in L2 learning and teaching? The present article developed from an invited colloquium at the 2013 meeting of the American Association for Applied Linguistics in Dallas, Texas. It comprises nine single-authored pieces, with an introduction and a conclusion by the coeditors. Our overarching goals are (a) to raise awareness of the limitations of addressing only the cognitive or only the social in research on L2 learning and teaching and (b) to explore ways of bridging and/or productively appreciating the cognitive-social gap in research. Collectively, the nine contributions advance the possibility that the approaches are not irreconcilable and that, in fact, cognitive researchers and social researchers will benefit by acknowledging insights and methods from one another.
