We sought to evaluate whether there was variability in language used on social media across different time points of pregnancy (before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as by trimester and parity). Consenting patients shared access to their individual Facebook posts and electronic medical records. Random forest models trained on Facebook posts could differentiate first trimester of pregnancy from 3 months before pregnancy (F1 score = .63) and from a random 3-month time period (F1 score = .64). Posts during pregnancy were more likely to include themes about family (β = .22), food craving (β = .14), and date/times (β = .13), while posts 3 months prior to pregnancy included themes about social life (β = .30), sleep (β = .31), and curse words (β = .27), and 3 months post-pregnancy included themes of gratitude (β = .17), health appointments (β = .21), and religiosity (β = .18). Users who were pregnant for the first time were more likely to post about lack of sleep (β = .15), activities of daily living (β = .09), and communication (β = .08) compared with those who were pregnant after having a child who posted about others’ birthdays (β = .16) and life events (.12). A better understanding about social media timelines can provide insight into lifestyle choices that are specific to pregnancy.

Many Muslim women worldwide are pregnant during Ramadan and adhere to Ramadan fasting during pregnancy. In the present study, we determined whether maternal adherence to Ramadan fasting during pregnancy has an impact on the birth weight of the newborn, and whether the effects differed according to trimester in which Ramadan fasting took place. A prospective cohort study was conducted in 130 pregnant Muslim women who attended antenatal care in Amsterdam and Zaanstad, The Netherlands. Data on adherence to Ramadan fasting during pregnancy and demographics were self-reported by pregnant women, and the outcome of the newborn was retrieved from medical records after delivery. The results showed that half of all the women adhered to Ramadan fasting. With strict adherence to Ramadan fasting in pregnancy, the birth weight of newborns tended to be lower than that of newborns of non-fasting mothers, although this was not statistically significant ( − 198 g, 95 % CI − 447, 51, P= 0·12). Children of mothers who fasted in the first trimester of pregnancy were lighter at birth than those whose mothers had not fasted ( − 272 g, 95 % CI − 547, 3, P= 0·05). There were no differences in birth weight between children whose mothers had or had not fasted if Ramadan fasting had taken place later in pregnancy. Ramadan fasting during early pregnancy may lead to lower birth weight of newborns. These findings call for further confirmation in larger studies that should also investigate potential implications for perinatal and long-term morbidity and mortality.

Objective: To identify the characteristics of maternal mortality cases in a tertiary hospital in Jakarta, including socio-demographic characteristics, previous medical and obstetric history, and patient’s clinical condition on arrival at the hospital. Method: This was a survey to identify the descriptive data of maternal mortality cases through medical records during study period. Manual review of 51 medical records was conducted for 2 years from January 2013 to December 2014 in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). Result: Of 51 cases of maternal deaths, 46 subjects (90.19%) had nine years of minimum education background. There were two subjects less than 21 years old and another was 42 years old. None of these subjects were using intrauterine device (IUD) or implant as the contraceptive methods where 66.6% subjects with underlying disease never used contraception. Ninety-two percent of subjects did antenatal care (ANC) regularly and 80.4% (41 subjects) of them was done in midwives. There were 14 subjects (29.78%) who had ANC in the first trimester of pregnancy. Severe preeclampsia is the most prevalent complication in pregnancy (26 subjects, 65%), which all (100%) patients arrived at RSCM with HELLP Syndrome. Therefore, preeclampsia was the leading cause of death in RSCM. Conclusion: The characteristics of maternal death in RSCM are prevalent in the group of 25-34 years old with the high school as the educational background. Most of them are multiparity and do not use the long-term contraceptive methods. Preeclampsia is the major cause of maternal death in RSCM. Abstract: Undecended testicle (UDT) is a failure of the testes to descend into the scrotum, and is the most common genital disorder on infants. The predispositions are prematurity, low birth weight and estrogen usage during the first trimester of pregnancy. UDT can be diagnosed through physical examination or laparascopy. The usage of hormonal therapy for UDT is still a controversial issue. Orchidopexy is the most common surgical intervention used for UDT. The objective of the study was to indentify the number of undescended testicle cases in Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Central General Hospital Manado in 2013 – 2015. This study was a retrospective descriptive design, the sample is obtained from all the medical records of patients with undescended testicle in medical record installation of Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Central General Hospital Manado. Study shows that there are 37 cases of undescended testicle on 2013 – 2015.Keywords: undescended testicle, orchidopexyAbstrak: Undesensus testis (UDT) adalah kelainan genitalia kongenital tersering yang ditemukan, ditandai dengan tidak turunnya testis ke dalam skrotum.

Abstract Functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) have become an important component of disability evaluation during the past 10 years to assess an individual's ability to perform the essential or specific functions of a job, both preplacement and during rehabilitation. Evaluating both job performance and physical ability is a complex assessment, and some practitioners are not yet certain that an FCE can achieve these goals. An FCE is useful only if it predicts job performance, and factors that should be assessed include overall performance; consistency of performance across similar areas of the FCE; consistency between observed behaviors during the FCE and limitations or abilities reported by the worker; objective changes (eg, blood pressure and pulse) that are appropriate relative to performance; external factors (illness, lack of sleep, or medication); and a coefficient of variation that can be measured and assessed. FCEs can identify specific movement patterns or weaknesses; measure improvement during rehabilitation; identify a specific limitation that is amenable to accommodation; and identify a worker who appears to be providing a submaximal effort. FCEs are less reliable at predicting injury risk; they cannot tell us much about endurance over a time period longer than the time required for the FCE; and the FCE may measure simple muscular functions when the job requires more complex ones.

ABSTRACT The fractional determination of 17-ketosteroids in the daily urine was performed in nine cases of hyperemesis gravidarum and in four control cases, in the first trimester of pregnancy both before and after corticotrophin administration. The excretion of total 17-KS is similar in the two groups. Only in the hyperemesis group does the excretion of total 17-KS increase significantly after corticotrophin administration. The fractional determination reveals no difference between the two groups of patients with regard to the values of the fractions U (unidentified 17-KS), A (androsterone) and Rest (11-oxygenated 17-KS). The excretion of dehydroepiandrosterone is significantly higher in the hyperemesis group than in the control group. The excretion of androstanolone seems to be lower in the hyperemesis group than in the control group, but the difference is not statistically significant. The differences in the correlation between dehydroepiandrosterone and androstanolone in the two groups is significant. The high excretion of dehydroepiandrosterone and low excretion of androstanolone in cases of hyperemesis gravidarum is a sign of adrenal dysfunction.
