<p>Designing and strategically developing viable business models is vital for value creation and capture and in turn for the survival and performance of entrepreneurial ventures. However, the widely held firm-centric and static business model perspective appears inadequate to reflect the realities of increasingly blurred industry boundaries, interconnected economies, and the resulting collapse of incumbent value chains. This PhD thesis adds understanding of the dynamic business model development process from an ecosystem perspective. The evolution of ten entrepreneurial ventures’ business models was documented and investigated through longitudinal in-depth case studies over twelve months. Analysing and comparing the cases revealed strategies that resulted in the development of effective interactive structures and robust value co-creation and capture mechanisms. The development of interactive structures, i.e. firm-ecosystem fits, was either supported by a focused or diversified ecosystem integration approach underpinned by heterogeneous interdependencies of value proposition and business model components across ecosystems. The obtained insights allowed the derivation of sets of capabilities that supported the business model development process and enhanced entrepreneurial ventures’ chances of survival. The findings have several implications for advancements of the business model theory. In particular they indicate what integration strategies can inform entrepreneurs’ and managers’ business model design and execution strategies for operating in increasingly complex ecosystems.</p>

Abstract Racing tires and motorcycle tires present individual segments of the tire market. For instance, while the average life of car and truck tires is 50 000 miles, the average life of race tires is 100 miles. Because tires play a critical role in a race, technical demands to assure safety and performance are growing. Similarly, tires have a large influence on safety, handling/grip, and performance of the rapidly growing world fleet of motorcycles, due to the fact of only two wheels being in contact with the ground. Thus, the common feature of both market segments is that the typical tire compromise of wear, rolling resistance, and traction is strongly weighted toward traction. Most of the recent efforts of rubber scientists have been directed toward lowering rolling resistance of the tread compounds, which left a certain void in the science of compounding for racing and motorcycle treads. Particularly, the industrial assortment of polymers and fillers used for motorcycle treads is commonly different from that used for car or truck treads, but it is not known how the filler properties affect the hysteresis–stiffness compromise. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of the carbon black characteristics on the important properties of a typical racing and motorcycle tire tread compound. More than 50 individual carbon blacks were mixed in a SBR formulation. The acquired data were statistically analyzed, and a linear multiple regression model was developed to relate rubber properties (responses), such as static modulus, complex dynamic modulus, hysteresis, and viscosity to the key carbon black characteristics (variables) of surface area, structure, aggregate size distribution, and surface activity. Prediction profiles created from the model demonstrate rubber performance limits for the range of carbon blacks tested, and indicate the niches to provide required combinations of the rubber properties.

A mathematical model based on the momentum, continuity and energy balance equations was developed to simulate the behavior of the air flow inside the solar chimney system. The model can estimate the power output and performance of solar chimney systems. The developed mathematical model is validated by the experimental data that were collected from small pilot solar chimney; (experiment was presented in part I). Good agreement was obtained between the experimental results and that from the mathematical model. The model can be used to analyze the solar chimney systems and to determine the effect of geometrical parameters such as chimney height and collector diameter on the power output and the efficiency of the system

Introduction: The vision of development in East Java is to realize a prosperous society and morals. In order to improve public health, as one of the measures to achieve this vision will require proximity access and improving the quality of health services in the community. Health cottage village (Ponkesdes) is a basic health services located in the village or villages that are part of the development of village midwife (Polindes). The aim of this study was to develop into a Community Nursing Center Ponkesdes based Health Promotion Model Theory, Nursing Center, and Performance Behavior nurse.Methods: The study design was an observational analytic consisting of two phases, namely the implementation of the exploratory and descriptive exploration causa effect. The population used in this study were nurses ponkesdes Tuban district that fit inclusion criteria as much as 20, with a sample of 20 respondents were determined using simple techniques saturated. The independent variable in this study is Nursing Center, Health Promotion and Behavior Model Performance dependent variable is the commitment and the action plan ponkesdes duty nurse. Instruments used in the collection of data in the form of questionnaires and data results focused discussion. Analysis of studies using the Partial Least Square.Results: This study showed a significant effect on Nursing Center nurse commitment Ponkesdes (t = 3.197). Health Promotion Model a significant effect on the commitment of nurses Ponkesdes (t = 2.185). Commitment nurses significantly influence nurses task Ponkesdes (t = 29.546).Discussion and Conclusions: Model development of community nursing center Ponkesdes be very relevant to be applied to programs that can improve the health and can be a solution for institutions of public health services.

Abstract Background Prediction tools that identify chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients at a high risk of developing kidney failure have the potential for great clinical value, but limited uptake. The aim of the current study is to systematically review all available models predicting kidney failure in CKD patients, organize empirical evidence on their validity and ultimately provide guidance in the interpretation and uptake of these tools. Methods PubMed and EMBASE were searched for relevant articles. Titles, abstracts and full-text articles were sequentially screened for inclusion by two independent researchers. Data on study design, model development and performance were extracted. The risk of bias and clinical usefulness were assessed and combined in order to provide recommendations on which models to use. Results Of 2183 screened studies, a total of 42 studies were included in the current review. Most studies showed high discriminatory capacity and the included predictors had large overlap. Overall, the risk of bias was high. Slightly less than half the studies (48%) presented enough detail for the use of their prediction tool in practice and few models were externally validated. Conclusions The current systematic review may be used as a tool to select the most appropriate and robust prognostic model for various settings. Although some models showed great potential, many lacked clinical relevance due to being developed in a prevalent patient population with a wide range of disease severity. Future research efforts should focus on external validation and impact assessment in clinically relevant patient populations.

Purpose How can customer service be so bad in an era when companies collect endless data on customer interactions? The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the important challenge of elevating customer service delivery by providing guidelines for when and how to select optimal measures of customer service measurement using a new decision framework. Design/methodology/approach The paper uses a comprehensive, multi-dimensional review of extant literature related to customer service, journey mapping and performance measurement and applied a qualitative, taxonomic approach for model development. Findings A process model and customer journey mapping framework can facilitate the selection and application of appropriate and relevant customer service experience metrics to enhance customer service experience strategies, creation and delivery. Research limitations/implications The taxonomy of customer service metrics is limited to current publicly and commercially available metrics. The dynamic nature of the customer service environment necessitates continuous updates of the model and framework. Practical implications Selection of customer service performance measures should match relevant stages of the customer journey; use perception-based, operational and outcome-based metrics that track employee and customer behaviours; improve omni-channel measurement; and integrate data-sharing and benchmark measurement initiatives through collaboration with customer service communities. Originality/value A reimagined perspective is offered to the complex challenge of measuring and improving customer service, providing a new decision-making framework for customer service experience measurement and guidance for future research.
