AbstractColloidal Silver nano-particles were grown at room temperature using leaf extract of Ocimum tenuiflorum. The silver nanoparticles suspended in the solution were found to be stable for over a period of 2 months. Structural, optical and photo catalytic behavior of the suspended silver (Ag) nano-particles (NPs) was characterized. From TEM analysis the size of the silver nanoparticles was estimated to be 25–30 nm. Our findings suggest that the ratio between the molarity of AgNO3 and the volume of leaf extract does not have any role in controlling the size of the Ag nano-particles. These green synthesized Ag nano-particles exhibit degradation of the carcinogenic organic pollutant sulforhodamine B in absence of light.

In the present work, green synthesized silver nanoparticles by sonofication method using pulicha extract, which can act as reducing as well as stabilizing agent. The silver nanoparticles were characterized by UV-VIS spectra, FTIR, XRD, SEM and TEM analysis. The UV –VIS SPR peak was observed at 440 nm, which represents the characteristic plasmon resonance of nanostructures. The fcc crystalline structure of silver nanoparticles is evident from XRD studies. The shape and size of synthesized AgNPs were studied by TEM. The synthesized AgNPs, were mostly mono-dispersed and spherical in shape. The particles are well separated from each other and did not exhibit any aggregation. This indicates the effective capping nature of pulchea indeca extract. The AgNPs size distribution histogram and the average size of AgNPs was found to be 14 ± 2 nm. The effect of silver ion concentration range from 1mm to 10mm and extract concentration 1% to 8% has been studied on the formation of silver nano particles. The AgNPs shows positive antibacterial acivity against stayphylococusaureoous , klebisellapneumonia, basilusbtilis and negative antibacterial activity against protious mirabilis bacteria studied. The anticancer activity of AgNps shows positive activity on HeLa cell.

Carissa carandas L. is traditionally used as antibacterial medicine and accumulates many antioxidant phytochemicals. Here, we expand this traditional usage with the green biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) achieved using a Carissa carandas L. leaf extract as a reducing and capping agent. The green synthesis of AgNPs reaction was carried out using 1mM silver nitrate and leaf extract. The effect of temperature on the synthesis of AgNPs was examined using room temperature (25 °C) and 60 °C. The silver nanoparticles were formed in one hour by stirring at room temperature. In this case, a yellowish brown colour was developed. The successful formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by UV–Vis, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The characteristic peaks of the UV-vis spectrum and XRD confirmed the synthesis of AgNPs. The biosynthesised AgNPs showed potential antioxidant activity through DPPH assay. These AgNPs also exhibited potential antibacterial activity against human pathogenic bacteria. The results were compared with the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of the plant extract, and clearly suggest that the green biosynthesized AgNPs can constitute an effective antioxidant and antibacterial agent.

AbstractThe present exploration is focused on the bio-fabrication of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) usingTrichodesma indicumaqueous leaf extract as a reducing agent. The synthesized Ag NPs were productively characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, XRD, and TEM studies. The photosynthesis of Ag NPs was done at room temperature for 24 h and at 60°C. The green synthesis of spherical-shaped Ag NPs bio-fabricated fromT. indicumwith a face centred cubic structure showed average particle sizes of 20–50 nm, which is inconsistent with the particle size calculated by the XRD Scherer equation and TEM analysis. We further explored the larvicidal efficacy of biosynthesized Ag NPs with leaf extracts ofT. indicumagainstMythimna separata. The results showed that Ag NPs (20–50 nm) ofT. indicumpossess good larvicidal activity againstM. separatawith an LC50of 500 ppm. Thus, we can advocate that Ag NPs of 20–50 nm size extracted fromT. indicummay be considered in the pest management programme ofM. separatain future.

Abstract Herein, we report the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) by a green route using the aqueous leaf extract of Morus indica L. V1. The synthesized AgNPs exhibited maximum UV-Vis absorbance at 460 nm due to surface plasmon resonance. The average diameter (~54 nm) of AgNPs was measured from HR-TEM analysis. EDX spectra also supported the formation of AgNPs, and negative zeta potential value (−14 mV) suggested its stability. Moreover, a shift in the carbonyl stretching (from 1639 cm−1 to 1630 cm−1) was noted in the FT-IR spectra of leaf extract after AgNPs synthesis which confirm the role of natural products present in leaves for the conversion of silver ions to AgNPs. The four bright circular rings (111), (200), (220) and (311) observed in the selected area electron diffraction pattern are the characteristic reflections of face centered cubic crystalline silver. LC-MS/MS study revealed the presence of phytochemicals in the leaf extract which is responsible for the reduction of silver ions. MTT assay was performed to investigate the cytotoxicity of AgNPs against two human cell lines, namely HepG2 and WRL-68. The antibacterial study revealed that MIC value of the synthesized AgNPs was 80 µg/ml against Escherichia coli K12 and Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC 96). Finally, the synthesized AgNPs at 10 µg/ml dosages showed beneficial effects on the survivability, body weights of the Bombyx mori L. larvae, pupae, cocoons and shells weights via enhancing the feed efficacy.
