Abstract Background Polymastia or accessory breast is a congenital condition seen in 1% of the population at birth and in 2–6% of the female population. The most common presentation is in the pubertal age group when secondary sexual characters begin to develop or during pregnancy and lactation. Giant cell fibroblastoma is an exceedingly rare benign soft tissue neoplasm in the pediatric age group, usually seen over the back and thigh. We report a case of giant cell fibroblastoma in accessory breast tissue in a 4-year-old, female child. This case is rare in its presentation at the age of 4 years with an enlarging accessory breast without any secondary sexual characters. Giant cell fibroblastoma in the accessory breast tissue is unreported yet. Case presentation A 4-year-old female child presented with a progressively enlarging accessory breast. A wide local excision of the accessory breast with underlying growth was done. The histopathological examination revealed a giant cell fibroblastoma within the breast tissue. Conclusions Enlargement of an accessory or normal breast at a prepubescent age with the absence of secondary sexual characters should arouse suspicion of benign tumors in the breast tissue.

Accessory breast tissue (ABT) is found in approximately 2%–6% of the female population and are subject to most of the physiological and pathological changes that occur in pectoral breast. Primary breast cancer occurring in ABT is a rare occurrence and a second primary breast cancer occurring in an accessory breast has never been reported. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman with a history of mastectomy for left breast cancer 5 years prior to presentation, who presented with an enlarging right axilla mass found to be a second primary breast cancer in an accessory tissue on biopsy. Many physicians are unfamiliar with the clinical presentation of accessory breast cancer due to the rarity of the condition and this ultimately results in delayed diagnosis and advanced disease at presentation. It is therefore prudent that physicians have a high index of suspicion when patients present with axillary masses.

Background: Leiomyomas are benign tumors of smooth muscle cells commonly encountered in women of reproductive age group. Aim of this study was to conduct a histopathological study of leiomyomas in hysterectomy specimens and to correlate them with clinical findings.Methods: A prospective study was done on 130 hysterectomy specimens clinically diagnosed as leiomyoma. The specimens were subjected to histopathological examination.Results: In this study, the most common age group was 31-50 years (87.69%). Most common complaint was menorrhagia (51.54%). In endometrium, the most common histopathological diagnosis was proliferative phase (46.15%) followed by endometrial hyperplasia (19.23%). The most common secondary change was hyalinization and the most common site was intramural (62.9%).Conclusions: Hysterectomy is a commonly performed procedure in the management of uterine leiomyomas. The ultimate diagnosis and prognosis depends on the histopathological examination; therefore, every operated specimen must be subjected to histopathology.

Background: The most obvious and important changes during puberty are secondary sexual characters. To check the correlation between testicular volumes with secondary sexual characters, nutritional status in Udaipur schoolboy’s assessment of testicular volume by prayer orchidometer is easy and reliable and accurate method in community. Aim of the study was to find out mean testicular volume by prader orchidometer at different stages of pubertal development.Methods: Children between 10 to 18 years of age (525 in numbers) from schools of Udaipur city were included. Children thoroughly examined for presence of any systemic disorders or major surgery was excluded. Informed consent with parents was taken Testicular volume assessment done by praders orchidometer with Tanner staging and correlation was statically analysed.Results: Maximum boys belonged to 15-16 years of age group (14.7%), and minimum belongs to 10-11 years age group (9.3%). Secondary sexual characters increases as mean testicular volume increases. The mean testicular volume for P1 (4.46 ml) and P5 (22.68 ml) and G1 (4.69 ml) and G5 (23.27 ml) with a p<0.05.Conclusions: Testicular volume adds more objectivity in SMR detection and helps to differentiate early genital maturation than pubic hair. Study population had early rise of testicular volume before pubic hair clinically visible which shows that testicular volume is the first to increase with the onset of puberty.

Background: Ovarian tumor is the seventh most common cause of cancer related deaths in female. The aim of this study is to find the, morphological and clinicopathological correlation, gross, histological pattern, and incidence of age distribution of ovarian tumors.Materials and Methods: This retrospective and prospective study was carried out from January 2011 to December 2015. The diagnosis was confirmed by histopathological examination using hematoxylin and eosin stain. Special stains and immunohistochemistry were carried out whenever needed.Results: Out of total 158 cases, 62.65% were benign, 3.79% were borderline, and 33.55% were malignant. Histologically, surface epithelial tumors were the most common (74.06%) followed by germ cell tumours(15.82%) and sex cord–stromal tumors (10.12%).Benign tumors were mostly seen in age group of 20–40 years, borderline 21–40 years, and malignant 50–80 years.Conclusion: Tumors originating from surface epithelium are the most common and their malignant counterparts are more frequent in the elderly age group.

Abstract Background: Primary sacral tumors (PST) are a rare group of skeletal tumors that can affect children and adults of all ages. Little is known about the epidemiological characteristics of PST in China.Methods: 1385 patients with primary sacral tumors, which had the clinical record at our bone tumor center from 2000 to November 2018 were analyzed.Results: 51.7% (716 cases) were malignant and 48.3 % (669 cases) were benign. Of malignant tumors, chordoma was the most common malignant tumor (316 cases, 22.8% of all tumors), followed by chondrosarcoma, myeloma and other histologic types. The most common histological type of benign tumors was giant cell tumor accounting for 14.8% (205 cases) of all tumors, followed by neurofibroma, schwannoma and other types. The most common age group affected by malignant bone tumors was the 51- to 60-year-old group, followed by the 41- to 50-year-old group. The most commonly affected age group for benign tumors was the 31- to 50-year-old group, followed by the 21- to 30-year old group. Furthermore, the following histologic types had the gender predilection. Chordoma, chondrosarcoma, myeloma and osteosarcoma of PST affected more frequently males than females. Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, lymphoma, giant cell tumor, neurofibroma, tuberculosis, teratoma and epidermoid cyst more frequently affected females than males.Conclusions: The large cohort of primary sacral tumors in our database may reveal their epidemiologic characteristics of primary sacral malignant and benign tumors in China and epidemiological feature of PST is fairly distinct from the mobile spine and extremities.

Introduction. Accessory breast is a congenital anomaly where ectopic breast tissue is found at any place other than the normal location. It is an extra tissue or a fully developed breast with a nipple. The incidence of this malformation is 0.4-6%. It is believed that this congenital malformation is associated with incomplete regression of the primitive milk streak during embryonic development. The diagnosis and treatment of accessory breasts is very important, because an ectopic breast tissue can undergo various pathological changes, as well as the normal breast tissue. Case Report. The authors present a 45-year-old female patient who was referred to a surgeon by a general practitioner with a diagnosis of lipomas in both axillary regions. After clinical examination and additional imaging diagnostic procedures (ultrasound and mammography) accessory breasts were suspected. The patient underwent surgery and the accessory tissue was resected. The histopathological examination confirmed the clinical diagnosis of ectopic breasts without any pathological processes. Conclusion. Accessory breast is a rare congenital malformation and its early diagnosis and surgical removal should prevent development of different pathological processes, including breast cancer.

The objective: study the features of gynecological, physical history, diagnosis and treatment of patients with benign epithelial ovarian tumors (BeEOT) and borderline epithelial ovarian tumors (BEOT), determining the frequency of recurrence of ovarian tumors in the postoperative period. Patients and methods. According to a retrospective analysis of case histories of 112 women with epithelial ovarian tumors (EOT) underwent conservative or radical surgical treatment in a hospital, two groups were formed: I group – patients with benign epithelial ovarian tumors (BeEOT), which amounted to 85 (75.9%) women, and group II – patients with borderline epithelial ovarian tumors (BEOT), which amounted to 27 (24.1%) women. It was found that the main complaints of patients with EOT were pain (49.1%), abdominal distension (17%), and abnormal uterine bleeding (12.5%). The highest incidence of BeEOT (31.8%) observed in the age group of 41–50 years, while the peak incidence of BEOT (44.4%) corresponds to the age group of 51–60 years. Results. In BEOT endocrine pathology occurs significantly more frequently (p<0.05) than in BeEOT – 25.9% vs. 9.4%, respectively. Pathology of pancreatic-hepatobiliary system occurs significantly more frequently (p<0.05) in patients with BEOT compared with BeEOT – 81.5% versus 57.6%, respectively. Venous disorders (varicose veins of the pelvic organs, lower limbs, haemorrhoids) observed in BEOT significantly more frequently (p<0.05) than in BeEOT – 18.5% vs. 5.9%, respectively. EOT most often diagnosed in the period from 1 to 6 months after the first clinical manifestations with an average uptake of medical care 4.6±0.57 months. In assessing of peritoneal exudate cytogram the mesothelium cells are significantly more common for BeEOT (p<0.01) than BEOT – 79.4% versus 40.9%, respectively. Cervicitis is more likely significantly to occur in BeEOT (p<0.01) than in BEOT – 29.4% vs. 7.4%, respectively. The most common histological type among the benign tumors of the ovaries are endometriomas, which occurred in 48.2% of all BeEOT cases, and among the borderline tumors – serous tumors, which accounted for 59.3% of all BEOTs. Conclusion. The use of organ sparing surgery in EOT increases the risk of recurrence, especially in the case of endometrial histology or borderline variant of tumor. Abstract Aim- 1. The aim of this study was to investigate the average maximum range of inter-incisal mouth opening in a representative sample of the adult subjects of Haryana. 2. To see any correlation between maximal inter-incisal opening with age. Methods- Maximum mouth opening was studied in 756 adult subjects with age range of 20-50 years in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Age limit was further divided into three groups (20-30, 31-40, 41-50). Those with clinical history of TMJ involvement, OSMF, any trauma, odontogenic and non-odontogenic infections, dental prosthesis on the anterior teeth, congenital anomalies in the maxillofacial region were excluded from this study. The measurements were recorded twice and mean of the two values were taken. Statistical Analysis- Independent sample t-test was calculated to compare age and mouth opening in both male and females respectively. Bivariate pearson correlation was used to see any relationship between age and mouth opening. P-value ≤ 0.05 and CI (confidence interval) at 95% were considered statistically significant. The Results- The average mouth opening of males (45.36±6.70 mm) subjects was higher as compared to female (41.27 ± 6.75 mm) with significant, p-value 0.000. The mean mouth opening ± SD for both sexes combined was 43.39 ± 7.02 mm. The corresponding values for mean inter-incisal opening in male population aged 20-30, 31-40, 41-50 were 45.52 ± 7.15, 46.16 ± 5.47, 42.96 ± 6.82 mm and in female population aged 20-30, 31-40, 41-50 were 41.40 ± 7.08, 41.60 ± 6.29 and 40.03 ± 6.38 mm respectively. Conclusion- Maximal mouth opening differ significantly with gender. There is a decrease in MMO with older age group.

Objective: To study the spectrum of histopathological diagnosis of endometrial lesions and their distribution according to age. Methods: All the endometrium samples obtained by the procedure of dilatation and curettage and hysterectomy sent for histopathological examination at Pathology Department of Gandaki Medical College Teaching Hospital, Pokhara, Nepal. The study duration was total 12 months ranging from July 2016 to June 2017. All the endometrial samples were processed, sectioned at 4 - 6 μm and stained with routine H & E stain. Patient’s data including age, sex, procedure of the biopsy taken and histopathological diagnosis were noted. A pathologist, using Olympus microscope, reported the slides. Cases were reviewed by a second pathologist whenever necessary. Results: A total of 128 cases were studied. The most common histopathological diagnosis was proliferative endometrium (28.9%) followed by disorder proliferative endometrium (15.65%). Most of the patients were in age group 36 - 45 years comprising 32.03%. Hydatidiform mole comprised of 7.03% and among Hydatidiform mole, partial mole was more common. Dilatation and curettage (82.8%) was the common procedure in compare to hysterectomy for the evaluation of endometrial lesions. Conclusions: In this study, we observed a variety of endometrial lesions. Most of them are benign; among benign, proliferative endometrium was the common histopathological diagnosis followed by disorder proliferative endometrium. Most common presenting age group was found to be at 36 - 45 years. In evaluation of hydatidiform mole, partial mole was more frequent in compare to complete mole. Conventional dilatation and curettage is the preferred method in developing countries with limited resource to screen endometrial lesion and therefore biopsy should be sent for histopathological examination. Thus histopathological examination of routinely stained hematoxylin and eosin is readily available and widely accepted standard technique for evaluation of the endometrial lesions.
