Affective flattening is a disorder of emotional expression, of which a good definition is ‘a gross lack of emotional response to the given situation’ (Fish, 1962). It is a clinical sign whose assessment depends upon the clinician's intepretation of the patient's facial expression, tone of voice and content of talk (Harris ' Metcalfe, 1956). Although these are subtle cues, it has been shown that experienced clinicians can assess the severity of affective flattening with a high level of inter-rater agreement (Miller et al., 1953; Harris ' Metcaife, 1956; Wing, 1961; Dixon, 1968). The disorder is usually associated with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, although it may occur in other conditions, such as the organic psychoses (Bullock et al., 1951).

We show that it is possible to extend a general-purpose programming language with a convenient high-level data-type for manipulating XML documents while permitting (1) precise static analysis for guaranteeing validity of the constructed XML documents relative to the given DTD schemas, and (2) a runtime system where the operations can be performed efficiently. The system, named Xact, is based on a notion of immutable XML templates and uses XPath for deconstructing documents. A companion paper presents the program analysis; this paper focuses on the efficient runtime representation.

Turing genius anticipated current research in AI field for 65 years and stated that idea of intelligent machines “cannot be wholly ignored, because the idea of 'intelligence' is itself emotional rather than mathematical” (). This is the second article dedicated to emotional thinking bases. In the first article, the authors () created overall picture and proposed framework for computational emotional thinking. They used 3 bases for their work: AI - six thinking levels model described in book “The emotion machine” (). Evolutionary psychology model: “Wheel of emotions” (). Neuroscience (neurotransmission) theory of emotions by Lovheim “Cube of emotions” (). Based on neurotransmitters impact the authors proposed to model emotional computing systems. Current work is dedicated to three aspects left not described in first article: appraisal: algorithm and predicates - how inbound stimulus is estimated to trigger proper emotional response, coping: the way human treat with emotional state triggered by stimulus appraisal and further thinking processes, high level emotions impact on system and its computational processes.

Abstract Increasing the level of automation in material handling tasks in small volume production operations can improve human productivity and overall manufacturing system performance. In this paper, we present a teleoperated mobile manipulator system that can be used for tending machines and transporting parts in manufacturing applications. The remotely located human operator can interact with the semi-autonomous mobile manipulator by giving it high level instructions. We have incorporated several sensors on the system to ensure safe teleoperation where the operator gives only high level motion goals to the mobile manipulator, such as waypoints for mobile base motion, and interactive marker poses for the manipulator motion. The point clouds from multiple depth cameras are used for mapping the environment. The robot plans for autonomous motions between the given way-points ensuring that the resulting motions are collision-free. We have conducted case studies with two different types of parts to be extracted from a 3D printer. The system is tested by multiple users. They were successful in completing tasks in a reasonable amount of time using our interface.

Pipelines, in Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) microprocessors, are expected to provide increased throughputs in most cases. However, there are a few instructions, and therefore entire assembly language codes, that execute faster and hazard-free without pipelines. It is usual for the compilers to generate codes from high level description that are more suitable for the underlying hardware to maintain symmetry with respect to performance; this, however, is not always guaranteed. Therefore, instead of trying to optimize the description to suit the processor design, we try to determine the more suitable processor variant for the given code during compile time, and dynamically reconfigure the system accordingly. In doing so, however, we first need to classify each code according to its suitability to a different processor variant. The latter, in turn, gives us confidence in performance symmetry against various types of codes—this is the primary contribution of the proposed work. We first develop mathematical performance models of three conventional microprocessor designs, and propose a symmetry-improving nonlinear optimization method to achieve code-to-design mapping. Our analysis is based on four different architectures and 324,000 different assembly language codes, each with between 10 and 1000 instructions with different percentages of commonly seen instruction types. Our results suggest that in the sub-micron era, where execution time of each instruction is merely in a few nanoseconds, codes accumulating as low as 5% (or above) hazard causing instructions execute more swiftly on processors without pipelines.

Study of labor potential most actually from a line item of an assessment of implementation of potential of the person in the given working conditions as gives a certain idea of the strong and weaknesses of control of regional development as a whole. The characteristic of labor potential is provided in this article taking into account two pacing factors of its formation and development: 1) human potential (potential of human development), 2) potential of regional social and economic subsystems. Authors gave detail statistical data across Primorsky Krai, the population characterizing a standard of living, expected life expectancy in case of the birth, a health care status, an education level — indexes which define component values of an index of the human development, published in the annual report «About human development in the Russian Federation». The assessment of perspectives and threats of reproduction of labor capacity of Primorsky Krai has the high practical significance. Special attention is deserved by calculation of security of strategy of social and economic development of Primorsky Krai made by authors till 2025 human resources. Support of the high level of quality of life of the population is offered As the main action for increase of use and development of labor potential of the researched region.

Interior design of space is somewhat different from product design in view of followings: the space should afford the multiple users at the same time and afford appropriate interactions with human and objects which exist inside the space. This paper presents a case study of interior design of a conference room based on affordance concept. We analyzed all of users’ tasks in a conference room based on the human activities that are divided into human-object and human-human interactions. Function decomposition of an every object in conference room was conducted. The concept of a high-level function is used such as “configure the space” to satisfy the given condition of the number of humans, the types of conference, and so forth. The Function-Task Interaction (FTI) method was enhanced to analyze the interactions between functions and user tasks. Many low-level affordances were extracted, and high-level affordances such as enter/exitability, prepare-ability, present-ability, discuss-ability and conclude-ability were also extracted by grouping low-level affordances in the enhanced FTI matrix. In addition, the benchmarking simulation was conducted for several existing conference rooms and the results confirmed that the extracted affordances can be used for checklist and also for good guidance on interior design process.

Recently, a significant amount of data has been reported indicating on the link between consumption of dairy products and development of oncological diseases. This could be explained by the presence in milk of various hormones, particularly insulin-like growth factor (IGF). This hormone is a mediator between somatotropin and tissues. In response to the increase of the blood level of growth hormone, hepatocytes begin actively synthesize the IGF, which accelerates the rate of the metabolism, including those of onco-cells. The majority of studies relate to humane medicine, and data on the dependence of IGF milk levels on breed, period of lactation, diet, physiological, and clinical status of an animal are lacking. Taking this into consideration, the purpose of this study was to analyze the concentration of insulin-like factor in colostrum, milk of cows and blood plasma at various stages of lactation. Study was performed on cows of Ukrainian black-and-white dairy breed in their from second to fifth lactation with milk yield 5100–5700 kg per previous lactation. Concentration of IGF was detected in colostrum, milk and plasma of cows, using enzyme immunoassay. Obtained material gives evidence that the highest IGF level is present in colostrum. After that hormone concentration decreases up to 10–14 day of lactation. High level of IGF in colostrum might be associated with necessity to stimulate metabolism of calves in early postnatal period of ontogenesis. Immediately after calving plasma level of IGF decreases. The highest level was observed on 10–14th days of lactation. Taking into consideration physiological function of the given hormone, there is no univocal explanation of the decrease of its plasma level in cows at the beginning of lactation. This could be associated with energy deficit, physiological condition of animals or with developing of lactation dominant and levels of other hormones. Potential of further research lies in investigation of the dependence of the IGF level in the secretion of the mammary gland on productivity, breed, age and diet of animals.

In the article there is analyzed the problem of primary disability leave in retirement age citizens in the Russian Federation in the period of2005-2014. In particular, there are presented results of research of main indices ofprimary disability of the given numerous category of population. There are highlighted the prevalence and dynamics of primary disability in the Russian Federation, and features of the level ofprimary disability in individual subjects of the Russian Federation identified in the course of the comparative analysis. There is given the estimation of the gender composition of the cohort of citizens of the retirement age, which initially were defined the disability group in the Russian Federation. There were revealed the subjects of the Russian Federation with the high level of primary disability rate due to social diseases.

Despite having achieved good performance, visual tracking is still an open area of research, especially when target undergoes serious appearance changes which are not included in the model. So, in this paper, we replace the appearance model by a concept model which is learned from large-scale datasets using a deep learning network. The concept model is a combination of high-level semantic information that is learned from myriads of objects with various appearances. In our tracking method, we generate the target’s concept by combining the learned object concepts from classification task. We also demonstrate that the last convolutional feature map can be used to generate a heat map to highlight the possible location of the given target in new frames. Finally, in the proposed tracking framework, we utilize the target image, the search image cropped from the new frame and their heat maps as input into a localization network to find the final target position. Compared to the other state-of-the-art trackers, the proposed method shows the comparable and at times better performance in real-time.

The theoretical analysis of home and foreign research shows that teacher's ability to set up trusting atmosphere in educational space is the most important factor of professional success and the guarantee of occupational health. The given research is based on the author`s concept that human trust in others is inseparable from self-trust, and the ratio of the level of expression of these two oppositely directed attitudes creates the features of trusting relations between a teacher and his (her) students. The mentioned trusting attitudes are included by the author into the teacher's communicative competence structure. A study of self-trust and trust in others among teachers revealed six different models of expression of trusting relations among teachers a model with high self-trust and trust in others; a model with high level of trust in others and medium self-trust; a model with high level of trust in others and low self-trust; a model with low level of trust in others and high self-trust; a model with low level of trust in others and medium self-trust; a model with low self-trust and low level of trust in others. An analysis of the relationships of trusting relations indicators in each of the identified models was then carried out with such qualities of communicative competence as strategies of behaviour in conflict, communicative tolerance, self-control in communication and empathy. The results showed that each empirical model of trusting relationships inherent to different teachers had different relationships with other indicators of communicative teacher`s competence included in the study. The results of the study enabled to obtain six different models of teacher-student interaction.
