The article presents the results of the verification of the programme of psychological correction of the emotional states of disabled convicts, developed on the basis of a “time” approach and including three main blocks “Past”, “Present” and “Future”. The study involved 68 convicts serving sentences in a maximum security correctional colony (20 people with a disability group and 48 people without a disability). Evaluation of emotional states was carried out using the following methods – TOBOL (Lyudvig Vasserman, Aleksandr Vuks, Boris Iovlev, El'vira Karpova), State-Trate Anxiety Inventory by Charles Spielberger (in Juri Hanin's adaptation), Differential Emotions Scale by Carroll Ellis Izard, the questionnaires of the need for achievement for communication (by Yuri Orlov), the test of frustration reactions (by Saul Rosenzweig). The dynamics of changes in emotional states during the psychocorrectional programme was assessed using the SHPANA technique (Yevgeniy Osin). Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Friedman test, cluster analysis were used for statistical analysis. The results of the verification indicate the effectiveness of the psychological correction programme based on the “time” approach, with disabled convicts serving sentences in a correctional colony. The participants in the experimental group showed positive changes in the dynamics of positive affect. The data also substantiated the need to use an individually differentiated approach in correcting the emotional states of persons with a disability group.

Poor school-related well-being may influence adolescents’ school performance and lifestyle. Adolescents having disabilities or ADHD are in a vulnerable situation for having poor school-related well-being, compared to adolescents not having disabilities. We used cross-sectional data from a school-based survey among 15–18-year-olds (N = 4071) in Sörmland, Sweden, to analyse the association between poor school-related well-being and disabilities or ADHD. The analyses were carried out by logistic regression models, adjusting for background factors, school-related factors, and health-compromising behaviours. Adolescents having disabilities (n = 827) or ADHD (n = 146) reported that their disability had a negative influence on school. Compared to peers without disability, those having disabilities had an increased chance (OR = 1.40 95% CI: 1.17–1.68) of poor school-related well-being. The corresponding OR was doubled for adolescents reporting ADHD (2.23 95% CI: 1.56–3.18). For the ADHD group, the adjOR for poor school-related well-being remained significant (1.67 95% CI: 1.13–2.50) after adjustments for school-related factors and health-compromising behaviours, but not for the disability group. In conclusion, adolescents having ADHD are a particularly vulnerable group at school, having a greater risk of poor school-related well-being. Schools should actively work to achieve school satisfaction for adolescents having disabilities, to ensure that all students have similar opportunities for favourable development, health and achievement of their academic goals.

BACKGROUND: In the system of medical and social expertise and rehabilitation of disabled people, the solution of issues of employment, socialization, improvement of the level and quality of their life becomes obviously relevant. AIMS: To study and analyze the needs of disabled people in vocational rehabilitation, including employment and the creation of special jobs, in a comparative aspect - in St. Petersburg and the Russian Federation. MATERIAL AND METHODS. The materials of the study were data from Rosstat of Russia, official state statistical reporting: Forms 7-sobes "Information on medical and social expertise of persons aged 18 and older" for 20152019. RESULTS: The article analyzes the indicators of primary disability and the needs of disabled people in vocational rehabilitation activities based on the study of the individual rehabilitation or habilitation program (IPRA) for disabled people in Saint Petersburg and the Russian Federation in dynamics over five years (20152019). An analysis of the needs for vocational rehabilitation measures, taking into account its structure in IPRA (vocational guidance and employment) and the disability group, was carried out. Since the greatest difficulties arise in the selection and organization of jobs for people with disabilities of groups I and II, the needs of people with disabilities in creating a special workplace have been studied. The necessity of solving organizational, methodological, and financial issues when creating special jobs for the disabled is emphasized. CONCLUSION: The implementation of the state program "Accessible environment" and its subprograms aimed at creating models of employment of disabled people in the regions of the Russian Federation requires taking into account the territorial characteristics of the prevalence of primary disability and the specifics of the regional labor market in the employment of disabled people.

Purpose of research. Studying the features of approaches to determining the timing of disability in rehabilitation and expert diagnostics during the examination of persons with HIV infection - AIDS. Materials and methods. The research materials were the data of Rosstat of Russia, official state statistical reporting: form 7-social security "Information on the medical and social examination of persons aged 18 years and older" for 2019. The data of our own research included the protocols of persons who were examined for HIV infection in the bureau of medical and social expertiseof (MSE) St. Petersburg and other regions: 50 patients examined in the period from 01.01.2019 to 31.12.2020, (observation group) in comparison with the analysis data of 50 protocols of examination of HIV-infected in the period 2017-2018 (control group). Results and discussion. According to the results of the study, the disability group is determined reliably more often already during the initial examination without a re-examination period (48.64% versus 19%, c2 = 0.491 at the p 0.01 significance level) when carrying out the MSE taking into account the Government Decree No. 339. Establishing disability for patients with HIV-AIDS without a period of re-examination during the initial examination allows them to get out of the supervision of medical and medical-social services.Taking into account that a part of the contingent of patients with HIV-AIDS has a "special mentality" and the presence of psychological and social risks, the lack of systematic monitoring of their treatment and social patronage contributes to an increase in the severity

This study aimed to compare rates of participation in physical activity according to the type of disability, sex, point of disability diagnosis (congenital vs. acquired), and ability to walk independently. The study involved individuals who were registered as disabled based on the 2020 Sports Survey for the Disabled project of the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare. Participants (mean age: 49.94 ± 12.35 years) included those with physical disabilities (n = 889), visual impairments (n = 523), hearing/speech impairments (n = 412), intellectual disabilities (n = 561), and disabilities associated with brain lesions (n = 364). Rates of severe (100%) and congenital disability (65.95%) were highest in the intellectual disability group. Acquired disability was most frequent in the physical disability group (94.71%). The highest frequency of independent walking ability was observed in the hearing/speech impairment group (99.27%). The rate of participation in physical activity was significantly higher in the acquired (odds ratio [OR] = 1.46, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.12–1.87, p = 0.005) and independent walking (OR = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.11–1.84, p = 0.005) hearing/speech impairment groups than in the corresponding physical disability groups after adjusting for age, sex, and severity. Our findings highlight the need to promote physical activity for people with physical and intellectual disabilities based on the factors examined in this study.

The article reflects the age and gender structure of the contingent of elderly people living in a General boarding house. The most common diseases in this category of persons, the presence of a disability group and individual programs for rehabilitation (habilitation) of the disabled person were established. The need for medical care, including medicines, was studied. There is a need to improve measures for medical and social rehabilitation, including in improving the employment of this contingent of people and the development of their leisure time. Examples of positive experience in this area among other regions of the Russian Federation are given.

Abstract Background: In economic evaluation, the quality of life of people with a disability has traditionally been assessed by applying established generic preference-based measures. To provide robust measurement of the effectiveness of programs designed to improve the quality of life of people living with a disability, preference-based measures need to be sufficiently sensitive to detect incremental changes in the quality of life dimensions that are most important to people who have a disability. Methods: An online survey was developed and administered Australia wide to two different population samples. The first sample (n = 410) comprised adults (aged 18 years and above) with a disability (n = 208) and family carers of person/s with a disability (n = 202). The second sample included adults (aged 18 years and above) without disability (n = 443). Respondents were asked to rank the importance of 12 quality of life dimensions extracted from the content of established preference based quality of life measures (EQ-5D, AQoL and ASCOT) in terms of their relative importance to their overall quality of life. The results were combined, and the preference rankings between groups were compared. Results: People with a disability placed relatively higher importance on broader quality of life dimensions (e.g. Control, Independence, Self-care) relative to health status focused dimensions (e.g. Vision, Hearing, Physical mobility), whereas these two dimension categories were less clearly differentiable for the ‘without disability’ group. The biggest differences between the groups in what dimensions were ranked as the most important (i.e. 1st preference) were in: Vision (‘with disability’ = 10th, ‘without disability’ = 4th), Self-care (‘with disability’ = 3rd, ‘without disability’ = 7th) and Mental well-being (‘with disability’ = 6th, ‘without disability’ = 2nd) Conclusions: Quality of life preferences for people with a disability differ to those without a disability. As quality of life is a key outcome for economic evaluation and for assessing the impact of disability care policy and practice in Australia and internationally, it is important that new preference-based measures of quality of life are developed which are sufficiently sensitive to and incorporate the quality of life preferences of people with a disability.

Post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) is characterized by several prolonged symptoms after critical care, including physical and cognitive dysfunctions as well as mental illness. In clinical practice, the long-term follow-up of PICS is initiated after patients have been discharged from the intensive care unit, and one of the approaches used is a PICS clinic. Although physical dysfunction and mental illness often present in combination, they have not yet been examined in detail in PICS patients. Grip strength is a useful physical examination for PICS, and is reported to be associated with mental status in the elderly. We herein investigated the relationship between grip strength and the mental status using data from our PICS clinic. We primarily aimed to analyze the correlation between grip strength and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) score. We also analyzed the association between grip strength and the EuroQol 5 Dimension (EQ5D) score as quality of life (QOL). Subjects comprised 133 patients who visited the PICS clinic at one month after hospital discharge between August 2019 and December 2020. Total HADS scores were 7 (4, 13) and 10 (6, 16) (p = 0.029) and EQ5D scores were 0.96 (0.84, 1) and 0.77 (0.62, 0.89) (p ≤ 0.0001) in the no walking disability group and walking disability group, respectively. Grip strength negatively correlated with HADS and EQ5D scores. Correlation coefficients were r = −0.25 (p = 0.011) and r = −0.47 (p < 0.0001) for HADS and EQ5D scores, respectively. Grip strength was a useful evaluation that also reflected the mental status and QOL.

AbstractAdipokines, especially chemerin, can interact with cytokines and other molecules in inflammation. To date, there is insufficient information regarding a possible correlation between functional disability and chemerin and other pro-inflammatory molecules in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). To identify the association of functional disability with serum chemerin and other pro-inflammatory molecules, including other adipokines, cytokines and E-selectin, in patients with RA. Cross-sectional study. Assessment: disease activity (DAS28-ESR) and functional disability (HAQ-DI). We compared the adipokines (chemerin, leptin, adiponectin, resistin, and visfatin), cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, and IL-18) and E-selectin levels between RA with functional disability and RA non-disabled patients. Of 82 patients with RA, 43 (52%) had functional disability. The RA with functional disability group had higher chemerin (140 vs. 112 ng/mL, p = 0.007) than the non-disabled RA group. Chemerin correlated with the HAQ-DI (rho = 0.27, p = 0.02) and DAS28-ESR (rho = 0.21, p = 0.05). Severe activity correlated with IL-6 (rho = 0.33, p = 0.003) and E-selectin (rho = 0.23, p = 0.03) but not with disability. No other pro-inflammatory molecules correlated with HAQ-DI. High chemerin levels were associated with functional disability in RA, whereas no other molecules correlated with loss of function. These results encourage further studies assessing new roles of chemerin as a marker of impairment in RA.

In this article, the authors have studied the main factors affecting the level of social development of the state. The analysis of the state of social policy of the Crimea and the Russian Federation on the main demographic indicators is carried out. Indicators of crime, inequality, and poverty were studied. The dynamics of indicators of older generations is considered. Indicators of a special category of the population — citizens with a disability group-are analyzed. Employment of the population in modern conditions is studied. Based on the analysis, current problems are identified and priority directions for the development of social policy in the region are proposed. It is concluded that the level of social development in the Russian Federation and Crimea is not at a high enough level, which, in turn, determines the need for additional development of social aspects of the state’s activities.
