This is the first of three papers where we present the applicable potential of an original construction process for steel space grids, named PREMIT System. After a general introduction, we explain the geometrical and structural characteristics of the proposed System. We carry out a morphological study of the principal typological schemes to which it is possible to extend the applicable field of the System. Moreover, we deduce some useful criteria for the static-economic valuation through a comparative analysis among the more frequently employed geometrical shapes.

This is the second of three papers where we present the applicable potential of an original construction process for steel space grids, named PREMIT System. Here we explain the geometrical and structural characteristics of the bolted version of the proposed System. Moreover we carry out the static analysis of basic components as well as presenting parametric modelling. A codification and an inventory of technical solutions, useful to satisfy the design requirements of a wide application case study, are formulated. Finally, in the last section, the most important System's prerogatives are Briefly exposed.

At the turn of the 20th century, terra cotta flat arches (TCFA’s) were a popular floor system in steel framed buildings for industrial and office construction in the United States. These arches were lighter but just as fireproof as standard brick arches, and were designed empirically using proprietary allowable load tables, which were based mostly on load testing.

In the 21st century, the proprietary nature of the TCFA makes evaluating these systems problematic for the modern engineer, architect, and contractor. Renovations of buildings with TCFA floor assemblies typically will have new penetrations as well as altered loading conditions from its original construction.

It is important for all parties involved in the design and construction process of a renovation to understand the history, mechanisms, and limitations of TCFAs in order to have a successful renovation from both a design and a cost perspective. Conversely, renovating a building without the proper knowledge or experience with the existing materials can lead to change orders, time overruns, and most importantly life safety risks.

This paper is a summary of a presentation given by the same author to the Association for Preservation Technology (APT) conference in September, 2018. A more in-depth paper by the same author and colleagues Derek Trelstad and Rebecca Buntrock will appear as an article in the APT Bulletin in 2019.

This research work aims to study the influence of the fabrics in the wear performance of clothing. For this, an experimental work was developed with two fabric samples having the same weight/m2, one single and another double, and a jacket prototype. Through a comparative analysis of the mechanical properties, very interesting results was obtained in the evaluation and characterization of the two fabrics performance in designing the same jacket, namely the drape and the corresponded aesthetic fabrics behaviours during wear. The structural characteristics and mechanical properties of each fabric were introduced into Marvelous Designer Version 8 software to simulate the virtual draping of fabrics in a skirt. The analysis of the drape profile of each fabric given by the software and the drape of the real fabrics evaluated in laboratory indicates, coherently, that the double fabric falls less than the single, but in a more harmonious way, what evidence the close links between technology and design of fashion products. Keywords: Fabrics design, Fabrics mechanical properties, Clothing drape, Real and simulated drape

Abstract. The objective of this article is to analyze the state-of-art regarding the construction process of the Gaussian Vaults of the Uruguayan civil engineer Eladio Dieste and to identify the elements that underlie the relationship between the constructive techniques and procedures within this specific structural typology and its resulting geometry. As complementary objectives, this research aims for the identification of the gaps in the registry of such constructive procedures. The essay focuses on the geometry of the Gaussian Vaults designed and built by Dieste, in a way that these rigid structural surfaces’ geometry had their original construction drawings redrawn and analyzed from the perspective of its construction technique by means of the Parametrical Modelling and Digital Fabrication of case studies.

ABSTRACT Powerful knight. Economic valuation studies. Economic valuation studies conduct a comparative analysis of different health interventions in terms of costs and benefits, with the aim of helping in decision-making when adopting a new health technology. The methodological aspects of its design must be known in order to assess the internal validity of the study, the importance of its results and the applicability to other populations different from those of the target population of the study.

This article studies modern software packages used in drawing construction master plans and their elements. A special emphasis is placed on increasing the level of design works, improving their quality, and expanding the community of technically unskilled users. The article describes approaches to solving the task of visualization of organizational and technological solutions and gives a comparative analysis thereof. It presents a visualization diagram of an organizational and technological solution for the construction of a building. It also highlights the most promising direction in graphic modeling of a construction process for buildings and structures with visualization seen as the most objective solution to address the assigned task.

Widespread use of polymeric materials from the items for daily use to electrical engineering, electronics and medical applications causes a need for their detailed examination under various external influences. Dielectric spectroscopy allows monitoring changes in the structure of polymers under various external influences. In this paper we analyzed β relaxation recorded in polymer woven structures and meshes based on polyethyleneterephtalate. Based on the results obtained, a comparative analysis of dielectric parameters and structural characteristics of the samples was done.

The risk of steel sheet pile cofferdam construction is very high, and the collapse often results in heavy casualties. This paper discusses the calculation model of single wall steel sheet pile cofferdam system in detail during construction. Take for instance the R38# pier construction process of Haihe Bridge, the construction monitoring system of the steel sheet pile cofferdam is established to get the deformation and stress ofsteel sheet pile and supporting system. Comparative analysis between measurable results and 3D FEM results is done, and both are basically consistent.
