Advanced computer technologies such as big data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital twins, and edge computing have been applied in various fields as digitalization has progressed. To study the status of the application of digital twins in the combination with AI, this paper classifies the applications and prospects of AI in digital twins by studying the research results of the current published literature. We discuss the application status of digital twins in the four areas of aerospace, intelligent manufacturing in production workshops, unmanned vehicles, and smart city transportation, and we review the current challenges and  topics that need to be looked forward to in the future. It was found that the integration of digital twins and AI has significant effects in aerospace flight detection simulation, failure warning, aircraft assembly, and even unmanned flight. In the virtual simulation test of automobile autonomous driving, it can save 80% of the time and cost, and the same road conditions reduce the parameter scale of the actual vehicle dynamics model and greatly improve the test accuracy. In the intelligent manufacturing of production workshops, the establishment of a virtual workplace environment can provide timely fault warning, extend the service life of the equipment, and ensure the overall workshop operational safety. In smart city traffic, the real road environment is simulated, and traffic accidents are restored, so that the traffic situation is clear and efficient, and urban traffic management can be carried out quickly and accurately. Finally, we looked forward to the future of digital twins and AI, hoping to provide a reference for future research in related fields.

Predicting the future is a difficult and, arguably, impossible task. This final chapter builds on the past and present and explores macro-level trends and how they may impact the future of eSports. This includes issues related to data privacy, blockchain, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, 5G wireless, and major policy and regulatory issues that may challenge eSports. Together, these trends offer a framework to map out how eSports may impact both business and society. The final section of this chapter synthesizes the detailed research questions from each chapter to guide future research in the field of eSports.

The Scientific and Educational Center "Engineering of the Future", created on the basis of the Institute of Regional Development of the Samara Region, has formed a number of important sectoral and subject committees, in which it is planned to develop breakthrough technologies in high-tech industries. The Committee on Artificial Intelligence, organized within the framework of the SEC "Engineering of the Future", forms its development strategy. The article outlines the vision for the prospects of such a strategy of the project team, consisting of specialists from universities, academia, design organizations, commercial companies and startups. The key in the proposed strategy is emergent artificial intelligence - it is a spontaneously arising, under the influence of external events or from internal causes or motives, a chain of coordinated state changes by agents who find a solution to a new problem or increase the value of an existing solution. The authors believe that the construction of emergent artificial intelligence is based on multi-agent technologies and ontologies of subject areas. The article formulates the main tasks of the Committee for the coming years and presents a technological project. The project includes the creation of mass production of intelligent resource management systems, personalized by creating digital twins of enterprise management processes, knowledge bases and multi-agent technologies. The essence of the proposed project, reflecting the important priorities of industrial partners, is to create a line of intelligent products and services for all stages of the life cycle of complex high-tech products and build a "factory" of such systems in the form of an open instrumental platform that will allow these enterprises to reduce dependence on the solution provider and on their own develop and modernize such systems. The principles of the Committee's work were proposed, its first potential projects and planned cooperation on these projects to achieve the first practical results were considered.

This report is based on the discussion that emerged from a convening of a panel of 22 experts in artificial intelligence (AI) and in learning. It introduces three layers that can frame the meaning of AI for educators. First, AI can be seen as “computational intelligence” and capability can be brought to bear on educational challenges as an additional resource to an educator’s abilities and strengths. Second, AI brings specific, exciting new capabilities to computing, including sensing, recognizing patterns, representing knowledge, making and acting on plans, and supporting naturalistic interactions with people. Third, AI can be used as a toolkit to enable us to imagine, study, and discuss futures for learning that don’t exist today. Experts voiced the opinion that the most impactful uses of AI in education have not yet been invented. The report enumerates important strengths and weaknesses of AI, as well as the respective opportunities and barriers to applying AI to learning. Through discussions among experts about these layers, we observed new design concepts for using AI in learning. The panel also made seven recommendations for future research priorities.

The city digital twin is anticipated to accurately reflect and affect the city’s functions and processes to enhance its realization, operability, and management. Although research on the city digital twin is still in its infancy, the advancement of the digital twin technology is growing fast and providing viable contributions to augmenting smart city developments. This study reviews the literature to identify the current and prospective potentials and challenges of digital twin cities. A research agenda is also proposed to guide future research on the city digital twincity digital twin to reach the utmost level of a comprehensive and complete city digital twin. Enhancing the efficiency of data processing, promoting the inclusion of socio-economic components of the city, and developing mutual integration between the two counterparts of the digital twin are proposed to be the future research directions to achieve and utilize a completely mirrored city digital twin.

In recent years, everyday activities such as work and socialization have steadily shifted to more remote and virtual settings. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the switch from physical to virtual has been accelerated, which has substantially affected almost all aspects of our lives, including business, education, commerce, healthcare, and personal life. This rapid and large-scale switch from in-person to remote interactions has exacerbated the fact that our current technologies lack functionality and are limited in their ability to recreate interpersonal interactions. To help address these limitations in the future, we introduce “Telelife,” a vision for the near and far future that depicts the potential means to improve remote living and better align it with how we interact, live and work in the physical world. Telelife encompasses novel synergies of technologies and concepts such as digital twins, virtual/physical rapid prototyping, and attention and context-aware user interfaces with innovative hardware that can support ultrarealistic graphics and haptic feedback, user state detection, and more. These ideas will guide the transformation of our daily lives and routines soon, targeting the year 2035. In addition, we identify opportunities across high-impact applications in domains related to this vision of Telelife. Along with a recent survey of relevant fields such as human-computer interaction, pervasive computing, and virtual reality, we provide a meta-synthesis in this paper that will guide future research on remote living.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of e-business and our lives, promising significant benefits to e-business companies and society. However, at the same time, AI systems in e-business may produce biased outcomes, leading to discrimination of minorities and violating human rights. Against this background, this chapter first describes the foundations of bias and discrimination in AI, highlighting its scientific and practical relevance, as well as describing its meaning, emergence, functioning, and impact in the context of e-business. Based on these foundations, the chapter further provides implications for research and practice on how to deal with AI-related bias and discrimination in the future, opening up future research directions as well as outlining solutions and recommendations for eliminating and preventing AI-related bias and discrimination in e-business.
