The issues associated with the geometrical and graphics training contents for the competence-based model of engineering higher education are discusses. Inconsistencies in the process of curricula projecting arising as a result of transfer from the traditional discipline-based to the innovative competence-based education model are analyzed. It is concluded that the old education model does not fit with the new educational goals to bring up students with a set of needed competences. Principles and rules for designing the educational content structure suitable for a competencebased model are outlined. It is proposed to develop the design and engineering competences based on geometrical modeling on the basis of sequential-staged structure. That methodology should be preferred, instructs the author, which allows to lift the building-of-projecting-competences activities at the over-disciplinary and highly integrative level.

China and Vietnam have experienced drastic social, economic and political changes, especially when these two socialist regimes have started economic reforms in the last few decades. In order to create more opportunities for higher education with limited national resources, both Chinese and Vietnamese governments have adopted strategies along the lines of marketization and privatization to reform their higher education systems. The major objective of this article is to critically examine how the market transition taking place in China and Vietnam has led to changes in education governance, particularly examine how these two governments have approached the challenges of global capitalism by transforming the socialist education model into a more market-oriented one. This article also discusses the major challenges and policy implications when education is increasingly privatized and marketized in China and Vietnam.

The growing availability of modern mobile smartphones and tablet computers is leading to an increase in the volume of content users consumed, including educational content. The development of mobile technologies opens up many opportunities for learning in higher education institutions. However, the use of mobile learning in student training should not be a spontaneous process, it is necessary to create pedagogically substantiate approaches and training methods. This article analyzes and interprets the results of existing research in pedagogy regarding the didactic potential of mobile learning in higher education system. A classification of didactic properties and functions of mobile learning is developed and proposed. The main didactic properties of mobile learning include: by the didactic feature of mobile learning — ten properties; by the technological feature of mobile learning — eleven properties. The main didactic functions of mobile learning are: by the didactic feature of mobile learning — eleven functions; by the technological feature of mobile learning — five functions. The didactic potential of mobile learning, due to its inherent didactic properties and functions, makes the educational process more effective, as well as contributes to the guaranteed achievement of students’ educational goals and planned learning outcomes.

The article explores the task of making higher education more profession-oriented. In this context, we consider the technology of structuring and matching professional activities and content of professional education curricula with the help of ontology. This technology employs intelligent analysis of labor market and educational content matching with the aim to organize educational programs and verify professional competences based on their ontological properties. The article also considers development of a professional training cognitive map that can help design the student’s personalized educational trajectory factoring in the given parameters.

In recent years, the rate of access to higher education has increased dramatically in Turkey. Although this case provides many advantages in the medium and long term, it is also a source of a significant problem. This problem is ”over education“ problem. This study addresses the over education problem in the dimension of education and particularly in the context of higher education curricula. As a result of the documentary analysis, we argue that Turkey can alleviate over education problem by adopting a market-oriented higher education model.

Three Dimensional Virtual Worlds (3DVW) have been substantially adopted in educational and pedagogical fields worldwide. The current study conducted a systematic literature review of the published research relevant to the application of 3DVWs in higher education. A literature search was performed in eight high-ranking databases, and following scrutiny according to inclusion criteria, 164 papers were selected for review. The systematic literature review process was summarized, reviews undertaken by the authors, and results about the applicability of 3DVWs in higher education were extracted. A wide variety of application areas for the 3DVWs in higher education were found, and were classified into five main categories. Various 3DVW platforms and virtual environments used for educational goals were also identified. The results revealed Second Life as the most popular 3DVW platform in higher education. This study also found that by using 3DVW technology a wide range of virtual environments and virtual tools have been designed and applied in teaching and learning for higher education.

The purpose of the chapter is to show to what extent university-based teacher training programs reflect the new educational standards required by the reform applied to the Romanian higher education system. Specifically, it attempts to analyze the relevance of the curriculum that forms the basis of the language teachers' preparation focusing on its content, structure, and educational aims and purposes. It also tries to highlight the degree to which such programs meet not only learners' needs but also the ones of today's society. Last but not least, the study aims to identify what elements resulted from the Romanian educational reform could be useful for the researchers interested in the field of initial language teacher training.
