To the Question of Maintaining the Professional Health of Staff in Educational Organizations

The article highlights the health issues, the problem of improving its parameters, which are directly related to the stable development of modern society. This topic is especially significant in the context of socio-economic instability, high inflation, rising prices for various goods and services, and the problems of implementing health policies. The physical potential and health status of the individual have a significant impact on the main areas of society, types of social and personal communications, are a source of using the appropriate channels for self-realization, preserving environmental safety. The health of employees is deteriorating under the influence of a number of factors: environmental pollution, poverty, quality of food, smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction, etc. Changes in society draw the attention of government bodies to public health problems and contribute to more productive and thorough work with labor resources. By "professional health" the authors of the article mean a complex of psychophysiological and psychosocial individual qualities of workers that meet working conditions and ensure high efficiency of professional activity. The state of professional health of the personnel is associated with the absence of any deformations, representing the absolute psychophysical and social well-being of a person in working conditions. Simultaneously with professional health, modern researchers pay special attention to the psychological component of workers' health. Aspects such as constant overstrain, nervous and psychophysical overloads are of great interest to specialists in this field. Among the main causes of industrial accidents, overworking of workers is in the first place. The energy expenditure of workers in carrying out production tasks must be compatible with well-being. The health of the personnel is an economic value, since the efficiency and quality of labor activity of the entire enterprise depend on the efficiency, labor potential, involvement of employees in the labor process as a whole.

Recently, the issues of balanced ecological and economic development of society, which consists in the co-evolution of natural and production systems in favorable, effective and safe directions, which will ensure economic well-being along with high-quality living conditions and human health, have become increasingly acute. The purpose of the presented study is to substantiate the model of the formation of the ecological and economic orientation of an individual's personality as a key determinant of improving the quality of life and a fundamental condition for a balanced ecological and economic development of society. The methodological basis of the research was formed by the dialectical approach, the transition from the initial theoretical abstractions of ecological and economic development options to a single co-evolving trajectory is being carried out; an acmeological approach that carries out comprehensive research, observation or restoration of the integrity of a person, thereby making it possible to comprehend the core basis of the formation of an ecological and economic orientation of a person; an axiological approach that reveals the specifics of the formation of ecological and economic value orientations that are capable of adequately reflecting the ongoing changes in society; the use of the modeling method made it possible to design a universal and stable model of the formation of an ecological and economic orientation of a person. The contradictions that arise in the process of co-evolution of the natural and industrial spheres require the development of a model for the formation of the ecological and economic orientation of the individual, universal and admissible for various types of social and professional activity. The introduction of the developed model into practice will expand the possibilities for the interiorization of new ecological and economic value orientations, taking into account the fluctuating nature of the ongoing changes, but at the same time, determine our own possibilities for regulating and stabilizing the state of the modern ecological and economic crisis. The ecological and economic orientation of the individual, due to environmental and economic values, is the fundamental basis for the coming positive changes in the development of society and the improvement of the quality and level of its life.

Human health and well-being largely depend on a sufficient standard of living, educational opportunities and participation in social and social life, and successful professional activities. It should be recognized that in the surrounding society it is in these areas of life that people with disabilities and disabilities are especially disadvantaged, but not neglected by society and the state. Currently, in the Russian Federation, the State programme Accessible Environment is being implemented to support and assist persons with disabilities and disabilities, with the aim of creating legal, economic and institutional conditions conducive to the integration of persons with disabilities into society and improving their quality of life. The programme contains three subprogrammes that are effectively implemented in modern society, namely: (1) Ensuring the accessibility of priority facilities and services in priority areas of life of persons with disabilities and other mobile populations; (2) Improvement of the system of comprehensive rehabilitation and habilitation of persons with disabilities; (3) Improvement of the state system of medical and social expertise. The organizers of the Abilimpix social movement were able to demonstrate to people with disabilities their individual capabilities and prospects for accessibility to all types, forms and means of obtaining knowledge and professional skills, their effective application in practice.

The theory of the executive activity of a personality and the ability to determine its correlates are analyzed. High efficiency executive activity is considered as a predictor of a high quality of life and professional activity of an individual. The results of the study of the individual psychological properties of the personality associated with the characteristics of performing activities are presented. A combination of properties is highlighted: irritability, sociability, extraversion, which positively affect the type of execution. They form a triad closely associated with all the properties of executive activities. Some personality properties that inhibit the development of characteristics necessary for effectiveness are identified. Aggressiveness and high emotional lability are characteristic of students with low responsibility. According to the research results, mutually exclusive properties are organization and openness. The definition of determinants and correlates of performing activities opens up opportunities for psychologists and educators to create spaces for the development of a highly effective personality. Executive activity is a system construct. Understanding its structure allows us to see its flexibility and form individual trajectories of learning and personality development.

The study of the needs of the elderly and the possibilities to activate their life position and improve their well-being and social security was carried out using the methods of a questionnaire, expert survey, interviewing, and testing. The results were tested in a socio-pedagogical experiment. The conclusions derived as a result of the study show that the potential of the elderly is used to a lesser extent than required by the elderly themselves and society as a whole. At the same time, the level of education directly affects the quality of life, the level of well-being of older people, and the degree of their involvement in professional activities and social activity. Overall, there is a direct correlation between the level of education of older people and their adaptation in modern society, as well as between senior citizens’ level of education and satisfaction with life.

This study addressed the psychological effects on personal well-being and reported quality of life of staying professionally active in late adulthood, and to what extent years of professional inactivity modulates cognitive abilities. Design and Methods: We collected data on 262 elderly adults, 129 of whom were professionally active elderly adults (who voluntarily maintained their professional activity after the age of retirement) and 133 of whom were retired adults, in a set of experimental tasks to measure basic cognitive resources. The study took place during the first quarter of 2020. Results: Active elderly people performed better on cognitive tasks that assessed attention, memory, and solving abilities and also reported more satisfaction with life and their current work. Multiple linear regressions analyses revealed that years of inactivity were associated with lower cognitive performance. Mentally demanding jobs were significantly associated with memory performance, but not with attention and planning. Conclusions: An involuntary separation from professional activity in the beginning of late adulthood may cause a deeper decline of cognitive functions, poorer adaptive adjustment to the aging process, and higher dissatisfaction with the period of life the individual is going through.

The Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) refers to the quality of indoor spaces in relation to the health and well-being of users. IEQ is a holistic concept considering various components of the overall indoor comfort: thermo-hygrometric, lighting, air quality and acoustics. Each component is described through specific performance indicators and benchmarks. The quality of the built environment is assessed at different stages from design to operational phase. The scientific literature reports several case studies related to the assessment of the individual components of the IEQ Tools aimed at the evaluation of the overall IEQ. The paper proposes an assessment tool based on the SB Method (Sustainable Building Method) and the Multi Criteria Analysis for the evaluation of IEQ during the operational phase of a building. Each component of IEQ is analysed through objective indicators and calculation methods. The tool provides two main outcomes: a global score expressing the overall performance of the building from the IEQ perspective; quantitative evaluations of all indoor comfort components through monitoring and measurement of the environmental variables. The above contributes to select intervention areas to optimize indoor design and to identify technologies aimed at ensuring the best IEQ levels for users at the operational stage. The system was applied to an open-plan working space of an office building. Monitoring activities and measurements are carried out to detect the indoor and outdoor variables affecting the IEQ. All aspects of IEQ were analysed and quantified so to evaluate the overall performance of the building and provide data to improve the working conditions.

Medical workers, in comparison with specialists in other fields, are more susceptible to the negative impact of the current situation of the spread of coronavirus infection. The new working conditions pose a threat to the mental and psychological well-being of healthcare workers of all levels. The article presents the results of an empirical study of anxiety and motivation of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic in relation to their assessment of the quality of life. The research was carried out based on GAUZ SO SOKB No. 1, Yekaterinburg. The sample consisted of nursing staff of the department of anaesthesiology and intensive care; the number of participants — 62 people, including 6 men and 54 women aged from 23 to 65 years. Research methods: Scale of Reactive (Situational) and Personal Anxiety” (Ch.D. Spielberger, Yu.L. Khanin); Motivation of Professional Activity (K. Zamfir, modification by A. A. Rean); the short questionnaire for the assessment of quality of life (WHOQOL). The results showed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, increased indicators of quality of life characterized nurses. It was also confirmed (but not for all indicators) that an increased level of motivation to work and a reduced level of anxiety characterize participants during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a positive assessment of the quality of life. The results obtained can be used in organizing a system of psychological support and accompanying medical workers in the process of performing professional activities in a situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Smart City concept includes a fairly wide range of characteristics of this new phenomenon for modern society. The main goal of creating smart cities is the comfortable living in them of people with a high level of well-being. The quality of living conditions for people in smart cities directly depends on how clean their natural environment is. The article examines the features of the development of the ecological vector of creating cities with maximum amenities for residents. Possible risks associated with negligence towards objects of animate and inanimate nature are listed, ways of high-quality environmental protection of cities of the future are outlined.

Introduction. Modern technologies are generating new types of production and transformation of old ones, which results in the loss of jobs, income and status among the representatives of elder generation and leads to a professional loss crisis. All these factors make it necessary to study the peculiarities of professional development in late adulthood.The aim of the current publication is to investigate psychological peculiarities of professional development in late adulthood.Methodology and research methods. The conceptual idea of the research methodology is the subject-based approach, which considers an individual as an active subject of labour, who is able to successfully and effectively realise various occupational activities, thus ensuring a decent standard of living. A standardised questionnaire “Motivation of Professional Activity” by K. Zamfir in modification of A. A. Rean was used to assess the level of internal and external motivation. The “WHO Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF)” was applied to determine the level of quality of life. The parameters of professional development were evaluated employing a questionnaire with closed-type questions – adapted method “Questionnaire of a Working Pensioner” by N. S. Glukhanyuk and T. B. Sergeeva. The study involved 77 professional respondents aged from 50 to 74 years (19 men and 58 women). The Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman rank correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis of the obtained data. Maximum likelihood factor analysis was used as well.Results. The comparison of motivation among the respondents of various age groups demonstrated that the employees over 60 years are more motivated to stability and working conditions than the employees aged 50-60. The comparison of professional experience showed that employees with more than 30 years of working experience rated their physical and mental health and well-being higher than employees with 21-30 years of professional experience. Correlation analysis confirmed the research hypothesis about the correlation between the quality of life and work motivation with the characteristics of professional development. It was also confirmed that the quality of life in late adulthood is associated with the ability to overcome workplace challenges. Factor analysis revealed the factors of psychological preparedness for mentoring (“Need for Mentoring”, “Benefits of Mentoring”, “Impact of Mentoring on the Main Place of Work”, “Cons of mentoring”), the factors of self-assessment of work activity (“Social Aspect”, “Professional Aspect”, “Continuation of Work”, “Demand in the Labour Market”) and the factors of psychological difficulties in late adulthood (“Age Changes”, “Impact of Experience”, “Psychophysiological difficulties”, “Cognitive Changes”). Scientific novelty. For the first time in developmental psychology, the relationship between motivation and quality of life at a later age is discussed; the most significant factors of professional development are analysed. It is established that the most important characteristic of the quality of life for professional development is the environment. The results of the study prove the validity of considering late adulthood as the age of development, which contains the necessary psychological resources to overcome age-related changes and realise oneself in professional activities.Practical significance. The data obtained are important for developing a strategy of professional development in late adulthood, which will allow for determining the methods of the psychological support of employees, the improvement of productivity and the reduction of occupational injuries. Based on the specifics of motivation of professional activity in late adulthood and the characteristics of quality of life, the relevant programmes can be developed to overcome the professional loss crisis.
