In order to solve the problems of low computational security in the encoding mapping and difficulty in practical operation of biological experiments in DNA-based one-time-pad cryptography, we proposed a one-time-pad cipher algorithm based on confusion mapping and DNA storage technology. In our constructed algorithm, the confusion mapping methods such as chaos map, encoding mapping, confusion encoding table and simulating biological operation process are used to increase the key space. Among them, the encoding mapping and the confusion encoding table provide the realization conditions for the transition of data and biological information. By selecting security parameters and confounding parameters, the algorithm realizes a more random dynamic encryption and decryption process than similar algorithms. In addition, the use of DNA storage technologies including DNA synthesis and high-throughput sequencing ensures a viable biological encryption process. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments show that the algorithm provides both mathematical and biological security, which not only has the difficult advantage of cracking DNA biological experiments, but also provides relatively high computational security.

ABSTRACTAs magnetization and semiconductor based storage technologies approach their limits, bio-molecules, such as DNA, have been identified as promising media for future storage systems, due to their high storage density (petabytes/gram) and long-term durability (thousands of years). Furthermore, nanopore DNA sequencing enables high-throughput sequencing using devices as small as a USB thumb drive and thus is ideally suited for DNA storage applications. Due to the high insertion/deletion error rates associated with basecalled nanopore reads, current approaches rely heavily on consensus among multiple reads and thus incur very high reading costs. We propose a novel approach which overcomes the high error rates in basecalled sequences by integrating a Viterbi error correction decoder with the basecaller, enabling the decoder to exploit the soft information available in the deep learning based basecaller pipeline. Using convolutional codes for error correction, we experimentally observed 3x lower reading costs than the state-of-the-art techniques at comparable writing costs. The code, data and Supplementary Material is available at https://github.com/shubhamchandak94/nanopore_dna_storage.

: In the information age, data storage technology has become the key to improving computer systems. Since traditional storage technologies cannot meet the demand for massive storage, new DNA storage technology based on biomolecules attracts much attentions. DNA storage refers to the technology that uses artificially synthesized deoxynucleotide chains to store and read all information, such as documents, pictures, and audio. First, data are encoded into binary number strings. Then, the four types of base, A(Adenine), T(Thymine), C(Cytosine), and G(Guanine), are used to encode the corresponding binary numbers so that the data can be used to construct the target DNA molecules in the form of deoxynucleotide chains. Subsequently, the corresponding DNA molecules are artificially synthesized, enabling the data to be stored within them. Compared with traditional storage systems, DNA storage has major advantages, such as high storage density, long duration, as well as low hardware cost, high access parallelism, and strong scalability, which satisfies the demands for big data storage. This manuscript first reviews the origin and development of DNA storage technology, then the storage principles, contents and methods are introduced. Finally, the development of DNA storage technology are analyzed. From the initial research to the cutting edge of this field and beyond, the advantages, disadvantages, and practical applications of DNA storage technology require continuous exploration.

Abstract Background: Serum dragon bile is a Chinese medicine used to treat pneumonia, but its mechanism of action is not clear. Meanwhile, due to the development of microarray and RNA‐sequencing technology, high-throughput sequencing analysis is being used increasingly, and it has been applied as an indispensable tool in many medical fields. Therefore, in this article, we want to employed the bioinformatics approach to explore the relevant pharmacological mechanism of dragon serum bile in the treatment of pneumonia through network pharmacology. Methods: In this paper, the active chemical composition and action target of serum dragon bile are obtained through the pharmacology database (TCMSP) of Chinese medicine system and the literature, and the data set of the intersection of active ingredient and disease target is established, and the protein interoperability network of serum gallbladder action target and pneumonia action target is analyzed by using protein interaction network (PPI). Using the Biological Information Annotation Database (DAVID) for gene ontology (GO) functional richness analysis and based on kyoto Gene and Genomics Encyclopedia (KEGG) pathogenic rich analysis, to predict the mechanism of the role of seroclon bile against pneumonia. Results: Through the network pharmacological prediction, it is shown that the main chemical components of serum dragon bile are quercetin, isoorientin, luteolin, Stigmasterol, vanillic acid, etc, all of which have anti-pneumonia effects. The anti-pneumonia effect of serum dragon bile is mainly regulated by pathways in cancer, Bradder cancer, TNF signaling pathway, Hepatitis B and Non-small cell lung cancer, among which the TNF signaling pathway is more associated with pneumonia. Conclusions: It is concluded from the network pharmacological prediction that serum dragon bile may play an anti-pneumonia role by promoting apoptosis, survival, immunity, etc. Its anti-pneumonia path is closely related to key targets IL6, FOS, CASP3 and AKT1. This study provides theoretical support for the follow-up study of the anti-pneumonia mechanism of serum gentian bile.

Unstructured data is growing exponentially. Present day storage infrastructures like Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage are not very suitable for storing huge volumes of unstructured data. This has led to the development of new types of storage technologies like object-based storage. Huge amounts of both structured and unstructured data that needs to be made available in real time for analytical insights is referred to as Big Data. On account of the distinct nature of big data, the storage infrastructures for storing big data should possess some specific features. In this chapter, the authors examine the various storage technology options that are available nowadays and their suitability for storing big data. This chapter also provides a bird's eye view of cloud storage technology, which is used widely for big data storage.

In Bangladesh, traditional technologies like Dole, Auri, Bamboo Gola, Motka, and Plastic bag are widely used in rice storage. Hot and humid weather of the country favors the growth of insects in these which are not functional for rice storage. Recently, hermetic bag (HB) GrainPro and PICS bags are suggested for rice storage without being subjected to economic analysis in the country. Very few empirical studies on the economic analysis of storage technologies were conducted at laboratory and field conditions. In it, losses of rice storage using traditional technologies and HB were evaluated to judge the economic effects of these. Moreover, determinants of storage benefit were analyzed for different devices and econometric modeling was formulated to have the understanding the benefit of reduced loss by storage over time. These benefits were found to increase with time meaning that a farmer gained more benefit by storing longer period in HB. Results showed that economically feasible and attractive in investing these technologies at a discount rate of 12 percent by using financial analytical tools like net present value (NPV) and benefit-cost ratio (BCR) of different storage technologies. The results also indicate that gain of storage clearly increased over time. Considering BCR, Plastic drum use in rice storage is the most profitable storage technology followed by GrainPro and PICS Bag for consumption. Regression analysis of treatment and time effect of storage indicated that percentage profit per month is found the highest in GrainPro bag followed by PICS bag, Dole, Plastic bag and Motka, respectively. Promotion of PICS and GrainPro bags in rice seed storage would be more cost-effective and economically feasible to farmers.
