A munkaerő-piaci követelményeknek megfelelően kialakított képzések versenyképesebbek a társaiknál. A napjainkban is zajló magyar felsőoktatási reform központi elemét alkotja a képzések ennek megfelelően történő átalakítása. ____ Tendencies can be observed on international and domestic levels that call for restructuring of higher education according to the needs of labor market. This paper presents an information system that can investigate the compliance of education programs and current labor market needs. Competences serve as a basis for this compliance checking, which is built on ontologybased approach. Having examined the distribution of roles (developer, operator etc.) appeared in IT job offers in time and space, a prototype of this system will be showed, related to Business Informatics degree program at Corvinus University of Budapest.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyse whether there is an adjustment between the Portuguese higher education supply and the needs of the labour market.Design/methodology/approachAn empirical study is performed, using a quantitative approach, relating the job offers for graduates registered at the employment centres and the number of graduates by higher education institutions (HEIs) in Portugal, at an aggregate level and NUT II regions, by areas of education and training, over the 2003–2018 period. To understand how job offers and graduates are correlated, bilateral Spearman's rank correlation coefficients were calculated.FindingsThe results show that, in large groups of educational areas, exists a match between the higher education supply and the labour market needs, with an emphasis on the fields of “social sciences, business and law”, “engineering, manufacturing and construction” and “health and welfare”. However, at a more disaggregated level, a mismatch in the sub-areas of “teacher training and education science” and “computing” was found since labour market needs are much greater than graduates by HEIs and the two variables are moving in opposite directions.Practical implicationsThe study has revealed important aspects that the educational policy should take into account in order to create the conditions for a gradual adjustment to the labour market needs. Also, the results demonstrate that some measures should be taken in short/medium term to avoid problems in the medium/long term.Originality/valueOne implication of this empirical study was the elaboration of a correspondence table to standardise the data analysis units from two different sources. As this correspondence did not exist prior to this study, this output is a relevant contribution to the research field. Another important contribution is the demonstration of a mismatch in some educational sub-areas that deserves special attention from educational policymakers.

The debate on what should be offered by universities concerning their marketing education curricula in order to serve the market needs, specifically the employers' has been widely present in the literature. Its relevance derives from the fact that employers are one of the most important stakeholders of higher education institutions, given their responsibility in the career of graduate students. In this chapter we intend to contribute to the understanding of the state of undergraduate marketing education offered by Portuguese universities and assess whether there is a mismatch between marketing education and market needs. A better understanding of the mismatch and its implications can lead to better marketing education programs, increasing not only the acceptance and employability of students but also the transfer of innovative marketing knowledge to companies. The findings show that there is indeed a gap between what is being offered by the academia and what is requested by the job market, in terms of marketing, that could be higher than 50% of the requirements expected by employers.

There is a constant increase in the graduates supply in the labour market in Albania. It seems that the expansion is going on a basis that risks distorting the distribution of students not in line with labor market needs. These expansions have been predicated on the assumption that more education is good for individuals and for society as a whole, not only in terms of economic outcomes like wages or employment, but also for a wide range of social outcomes like improved health and higher well-being. However, along with expansion of the system has come a range of new questions that have emerged as consequence of being many more tertiary graduates. For example, has the increase in tertiary graduates resulted in an oversupply of workers with tertiary qualifications, and thus a decline in the ‘value of a degree?’ If overeducation is a temporary disequilibrium or a permanent feature of economy; if the subject of degree affects the likelihood of being overeducated etc. are raised. This paper represents a research, aiming a total covering of the labour market measuring the overeducation rate for the graduates in Albania and drawing some take aways. The main contribution of the paper consists in providing estimations of graduate overeducation rate in national level. Some guidelines for possible recommendations for policies makers, relevant government agencies, higher education institutions, parents and other stakeholders involved in higher education sector in Albania, are also provided.

Through the lenses of equity and social justice-related practices, this chapter outlines one university's efforts to offer credentials and degrees that meet industry demands based on labor market needs, along with the needs of today's contemporary learners, in a dynamic higher education landscape. An overview of contemporary learners is provided in relation to equity and social justice, while providing a connection to the featured university and its rich history of serving the respective region. The authors outline the university's guiding principles, in the form of pillars, and discuss how these pillars impact contemporary learners, who are served through innovative, affordable programming. Examples of specific programs are provided that are designed to meet the need of the contemporary learners. The chapter closes with suggestions for implementing programs based on partnerships, researching industry need, and guidance through a specific mission that reflects the changing landscape in higher education.

The labor market in our time is experiencing revolutionary changes. The era of a relatively stable labor market is over. There is no balance of vacancies between the needs of the modern economy and specialists trained by the education system. New technologies lead to the emergence of new professions, new vacancies. And hence the main and paradoxical trend of the modern labor market of new technologies - a lot of “non-specialists” (that is, people who have not received a special education) who create new types of labor activity, and then new professions appear, and as a result, new vacancies, and, again, new "non-specialists" creating new specialties. From the point of view of the structure of modern education, it is ready to solve these problems. But, unfortunately, these education functions are not yet activated. And the labor market needs them more and more. Those. education should teach students to self-seek.
