Introduction: The treatment of atrophic jaw fractures requires extensive knowledge by the maxillofacial surgeon. The correct diagnosis and planning optimize the possibility of oral rehabilitation towards many possible alternatives. The difficulty in repairing these fractures makes the treatment complex, in which normally invasive techniques are used. However; which give us satisfactory and predictable aesthetic-functional results. Objective: The objective of this work is to report an atrophic jaw fracture and posterior dental implants rehabilitation. Case report: A 53 years old female patient, victim of in face aggression referred to the emergency care. At the clinical examination, the patient had laceration in the upper lip region and the left side of the mandibular area, with bilateral mobility and paresis. In the oral examination, total lower and partial upper edentulism. After tomographic evaluation, a bilateral fracture of the mandibular body was confirmed, with significant bone fragments uneven. Surgery was performed with total transcervical access and use of reconstruction plate. After 90 days of follow-up, the oral rehabilitation with osseointegrated implants was performed. Conclusion: Complex atrophic mandible fractures in total edentulous patients can be treated with open reduction and stable fixation, allowing a faster return to normal function, improve of quality of life and assists in increasing safety for implant installation.KeywordsEdentulous jaw; Jaw fixation techniques; Dental implants.

Comminuted jaw fractures represent a challenge in terms of treatment. The advancement of fixation techniques and materials has contributed to the surgeon providing faster treatment and less complication. Even so, cases that present severe mandibular fragmentation require additional therapies, such as the use of bone grafts and dental implants, in order to recover function, aesthetics and anatomy of the mandible. This work aims to report a case of comminuted mandibular body fracture, which was treated with reconstruction, initially by rigid internal fixation, and secondly, by iliac bone graft and implant-supported oral rehabilitation. Although studies in the literature demonstrate that autogenous grafts show significant resorption, they are still considered the gold standard, and allow an ideal basis for obtaining osseointegration of dental implants. Thus, we concluded that the use of the autogenous bone graft coming from the iliac crest and rehabilitation with implants can be a satisfactory option for functional and aesthetic repair of patients who presented high impact fractures, and developed significant bone defects.

Introduction: Maxillary canines play strategic roles in maintaining the normal function and visibility of teeth. However, rare cases of bilateral permanent congenitally missing maxillary canines were occurring. Replacing these missing canines with dental implant prostheses is an optimal treatment plan for aesthetics and functions. Case Report: In this case report, we described the replacement of bilateral maxillary canines with osseointegrated implants to support all-ceramic prostheses for a young female patient. This treatment avoids the conventional preparation of adjacent teeth as a part of prosthetic reconstructions. In addition to that, all-ceramic crowns are biocompatible with oral cavity structures. Conclusion: The stable short-term result has been achieved with the replacement of the bilateral congenitally missed canines with an implant and cemented all-ceramic crowns, with 3-years cumulative success rate.

Hemangiomas are benign neoplasms that are common in the head and neck, but relatively rare in the oral cavity. They can cause esthetic and functional impairment, depending on location. The most common site is the upper lip, but they can occur in other areas, such as the tongue, buccal mucosa and palate. Treatment is primarily dependent on correct diagnosis of the lesion and on its anatomic location. The purpose of this article is to provide a description of a case of a hemangioma on the upper lip, treated by therapeutic sclerosis with monoethanolamine oleate (Ethamolin®), covering clinical characteristics and methods for diagnosing these lesions. Precise diagnosis and appropriate therapeutic management resulted in satisfactory esthetic and functional results, with total regression of the lesion and no signs of relapse at 1-year follow-up.

Abstract Rhabdomyosarcoma is a malignant tumor that is most often seen in children younger than 15 years of age. This pathology is found mainly in the head and neck region. Treatment of rhabdomyosarcoma at early stages of life usually affects the dental and osseous development of children. Because of impaired development, microstomia can arise, making dental treatment more difficult. This article presents a patient with microstomia caused by resection of an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in the nasolabial region. The patient was treated with 5 dental implants and fixed hybrid prosthesis in the maxilla and 2 implants supporting an overdenture in the mandible.

Introduction: Osseointegrated dental implants have been routinely used in oral rehabilitation. Patients with dysplastic bone diseases represent a particular challenge for oral rehabilitation with dental implants. Nevertheless, the installation of implants in patients with cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) has been reported with apparent success. Objective: In this paper, we present a case of a patient with COD in which a dental implant had been installed and lost six months later. In this regard, we analyzed pertinent aspects of the indications for dental implants in patients with COD considering the pathogenesis, dysplastic nature, and behavior of the disease. Conclusion: The present case report illustrates that COD can be considered a limiting factor in the recommendation for a dental implant. Because of this, it is imperative to inform the patient about the risks of surgically manipulating the diseased bone.

Dental implants are now considered as a predictable treatment modality for the oral rehabilitation of partially or fully edentulous patients. Recently emphasis has changed towards achieving a predictable esthetic success. Creating aesthetically successful implant-supported restoration in the anterior region of oral cavity depends on the presence of interimplant papilla when multiple implants are used. The present paper reports a case of interimplant papilla reconstruction in esthetic zone of maxilla during one stage early loading multiple implant procedure using demineralized freeze dried bone allograft block fixed by titanium screw.

One of the most important concerns during posterior mandibular implant placement is avoiding the mandibular canal. Nerve injury can be very disturbing to the patient, possibly causing mild paresthesia to complete anesthesia. Explantation of a dental implant that gas violated the mandibular canal is the most recommended treatment. However, an osseointegrated implant that placed in the mandibular canal can be left if the patient shows no symptoms. In this case report, we describe a technique to maintain the apexes of the implants while partially removing fractured osseointegrated implants previously placed in the mandibular canal.

AbstractIntroduction: Oral rehabilitation is based on establishing a correct diagnosis and designing a plan to give appropriate treatment to each clinical case. Patients’ aesthetic requirements show an increasing trend in current practice. Sjögren’s syndrome and obesity can have a negative impact on a person’s quality of life, and it is therefore imperative to identify and reduce these significant barriers to paving the way for better oral health and the overall well-being of the individual. Hypertension NYHA II type patients may present oral manifestations like ageusia, burning sensation, xerostomia, lichenoid reactions or gingival hyperplasia. Case presentation: This time, at our clinic, a 71-year-old man requested a complex oral rehabilitation. He presented partial edentulism at both arches. We are talking about a non-smoking patient, with chronical medication treatment for the mentioned pathology. Conclusions: A well-controlled hypertensive patient is not a risk in clinical practice. When choosing an implant based therapy, the old age of the patient can be considered a negative factor for successful results, but it is not a strict contraindication. This case report shows the most suitable treatment solution, regarding all the advantages and disadvantages of other treatment options, represented by implant supported fixed prosthetic restaurations.
