The present study investigated the relationships between the three factors of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and entrepreneurial intention among students from the Technical Secondary School in Malaysia. This study utilized the survey (questionnaire) method. A total of 163 respondents which consisted of the Year 4 students from one of the Technical Secondary School in Northern Region of Malaysia were selected to participate in this study. The findings presented that students in this institution have a high level of entrepreneurial intention (mean=3.89). Also, results presented that subjective norm is the only factor that significantly related to entrepreneurial intention (β=.331, p=.000). Meanwhile, other factors such as attitude towards behavior (β=.064, p=.474) and self-efficacy (β=.070, p=.438) are not significantly related to entrepreneurial intention. Thus, it is found that only one factor of TPB which is subjective norm has a significant relationship with entrepreneurial intention among students in this Technical Secondary School. This study contributed some fruitful knowledge which can be suggested to all Technical Secondary Schools to improve the level of students’ entrepreneurial intention, particularly in the Malaysian context. Implications of the results are discussed; and future research direction are briefly provided.

Abstract Background Motivation is critical for supporting persistence and achievement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. In this study, we focus on the assessment of mathematics motivation among secondary school students. We provide validity and reliability evidence for the Mathematics Motivation Questionnaire (MMQ)—adapted from the Science Motivation Questionnaire designed for college students—using data from 2551 secondary students from seven states across the United States. Results Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses confirmed five latent factors of the MMQ indicated by 19 items: intrinsic value, self-regulation, self-efficacy, utility value, and test anxiety. The nonlinear SEM reliability coefficients of the five constructs ranged from 0.76 to 0.91. To assess criterion validity, analyses using a subset of the data that included students’ mathematics standardized scores (n = 536) indicated that intrinsic value, self-regulation, and self-efficacy were significantly positively correlated with mathematics achievement, whereas test anxiety was significantly negatively correlated with mathematics achievement. Conclusions The MMQ provides a reliable, valid, and feasible measure of the specific factors underlying mathematics motivation among secondary students.

This current research aims to measure the effectiveness of using a proposed strategy for teaching literary texts based on the main assumptions of NLP in developing reading comprehension levels and improving reading self-efficacy for second-grade students, and to achieve this goal the researcher has prepared a list of reading comprehension levels and their behavioral indicators (Skills) required for second year secondary school students, as well as the appropriate reading self dimensions for secondary school students related to literary texts, and the researcher prepared a test that measures reading levels of comprehension, and a measure of the dimensions of the reading self, As well as preparing student worksheets and a teacher’s guide explaining how to use the proposed strategy. The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the scores of the control group in the test of post-comprehension reading and the dimensional reading self-measure in favor of the experimental group. The results also indicated the effectiveness of using the proposed strategy based on hypotheses of NLP in developing reading comprehension levels and improving The dimensions of the reading self of the experimental group students.

Purpose Entrepreneurial intention plays a crucial role in the research and application of social entrepreneurship (SE). The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of the factors affecting students’ intention towards social entrepreneurship (ISE). The study has taken entrepreneurial self-efficacy, along with entrepreneurial education, entrepreneurial network and perceived university support that have an impact on intentions, which instills interest amongst students in being future entrepreneurs. Design/methodology/approach Data were primarily taken from a survey of 380 university students from public and private universities in Chattogram, the business capital of Bangladesh. Students were preliminarily selected, focussing on different profiles such as male/female, age, socio-economic status, education level, university status and employment level. Initially, using factor analysis factors were analyzed and later multiple regression analysis was used to identify the relationship with ISE. Findings The study on the student reveals that four aspects significantly impacted the preference of students’ ISE. This study reinforces the influence of entrepreneurial self-efficacy, along with entrepreneurial education, as the factors contributing to aid young graduates recognizing and fostering an ISE. Entrepreneurial networks and perceived university support were found to have no association with social entrepreneurial intentions. Originality/value This paper contributes to the understanding of the factors and provides a basis for explaining factors that affect the intention of students towards SE. It can contribute to future research related to social entrepreneurial intention. Furthermore, it was concluded that forming social entrepreneurial intention is highly influenced by entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurship education.

Purpose: In this study, the story of the Art Yard at Dadaocheng, Taipei, Taiwan, was adopted as a case study. We thoroughly investigated the founder, a former television reporter, and her social entrepreneurial intention (SEI) to initiate a social enterprise. Methodology: By integrating the two classic models of entrepreneurship intention, entrepreneurial event theory and theory of planned behavior, we investigated the antecedents of SEI (i.e., empathy, entrepreneurial alertness, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, social responsibility, and social capital and support). Findings: The founder possessed capability of communication and coordination because of her professional journalism experience and successfully introduced her passionate empathy and profound sense of social responsibility into her entrepreneurial aspirations. Her entrepreneurial alertness and self-disciplined entrepreneurial self-efficacy originated from in-service education and inspiration through action. Social networks accumulated during her journalism career did not represent the primary source of support when establishing her social enterprise. In this research, two additional antecedents of SEI were identified: knowledge capital and work experience. Implications for theory and practice: Social entrepreneurial attitudes can be developed on the basis of passionate empathy and social entrepreneurial alertness is required to address the professional development needs in service programs. Social entrepreneurial self-efficacy in communication and marketing management is closely associated with the journalism profession, and the journalistic passion for social justice can motivate social responsibility activities. Careful selection, maintenance, and transformation of business partners for social support are essential. Originality and value: A new SEI theory was subsequently proposed for future research, and practical implications were addressed for social entrepreneurship.

The primary purpose of the study was to develop a model for measuring entrepreneurship intentions among university art students. Therefore, the study investigated and attempted to answer the following question: To what extent does entrepreneurial environment affect the antecedents of entrepreneurial intention (Attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norm and perceived behavioural control? A sample of 150 graduates from the Arts and Design programme took part in the study and data collected was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The results provide evidence that subjective norm is an insignificant predictor of entrepreneurial intention compared to attitudes towards entrepreneurial behaviour and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Perceived environment support was observed to directly relate to future Entrepreneurial Intentions and it also mediates the relationship between Perceived University Environment, Perceived Entrepreneurial Abilities and immediate Entrepreneurial Intentions. It is recommended that policymakers should consider the development of a coherent national policy framework that addresses entrepreneurship for the art/creative industries sector. Future research is recommended to fully evaluate the effectiveness of the impact that subject components in Entrepreneurship Education have on students’ attitudes towards entrepreneurship, perceived entrepreneurial abilities, and Entrepreneurial Intentions.

Entrepreneurship education is one of the national programs to boost the number of entrepreneurs in the country. The success of creating educated entrepreneurs depends on several factors such as the curriculum, mentors, the method and the readiness of the participant. The intention to become an entrepreneur cannot be separated from the individual’s self-efficacy. This research examined the effect of master’s students’ self-efficacy on their entrepreneurial intention, with the mediation of the Planned Behavior Theory variables. The sample included 134 master’s students out of the total of 203. All had been conducting business for at least six months and were recruited through purposive sampling. A 1-5 Likert scale questionnaire was given to the respondents in print and through Google Forms. Quantitative data analysis was done using smart-PLS version 3. Two of the three variables of the Planned Behavior Theory were significant as mediators of self-efficacy, namely attitude toward behavior and subjective norm. Perceived behavioral control did not have an effect on self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intent through mediation. Keywords: self-efficacy, theory of planned behavior, attitude toward behavior, perceived behavioral control, subjective norm, entrepreneurial intention

Family and education have often been studied by numerous researchers as the factors of entrepreneurs’ creation. The research discusses the influence of background of family and education in entrepreneurship on the entrepreneurial self-efficacy in shaping the entrepreneurial intention among Chinese Indonesian Gen Z. Through the application of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), this research employed quantitative method design. This current study uses Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis of 202 individuals. The finding indicates that Family Background and Entrepreneurship Education affect Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy, and Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy mediates the relationship between Family Background and Entrepreneurship Education in Entrepreneurial Intention. However, Family Background and Entrepreneurship Education do not have direct influences on Entrepreneurial Intention. Based on the finding, it can be determined that Family Background and Entrepreneurship Education will stimulate a high Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy which leads to Entrepreneurial Intention. Thus, this study suggests the stakeholder in education in Indonesia create an entrepreneurship-based system in the education curriculum to equip students with knowledge of entrepreneurship and develop the skills not only to discover the business opportunity, but also to create a sustainable one, and at the same time encouraging them to have self-confident in their capability in becoming thriving entrepreneurs. While the finding on Family Background signify that entrepreneurs are nurture, not nature since they need to be stimulated along with Entrepreneurship Education and Self-Efficacy. The limitation of this study lies in the size of the sample, thus future research is recommended to take a larger sample to get more representable data to envisage the Entrepreneurial Intention. This study provides an insight into the Entrepreneurial Intention among Chinese Indonesian Gen Z which has never been investigated in the past. Additionally, it contributes the empirical evidence of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy role in transforming Family Background and Entrepreneurship Education into Entrepreneurial Intention.
