Lean manufacturing (LM) is a management system focused on eliminating waste and activities that do not add value, with the aim of reducing costs and improving the quality and productivity of organizations. LM has been adopted in diverse industries and several countries due to its advantages in cost, flexibility and rapid response (Muslimen et al., 2013). The objective of this investigation is to analyze the implementation level to the Lean System via the SAE J4000 (SAE 1999a) standard carried out among companies of the State of Mexico automotive industry. In addition, this investigation shows the inferential and descriptive statistics data analysis of Mexican companies compared to the automotive industries in Spain and Brazil. Results show that the implementation level of the automotive industry is at 48.4% in the State of Mexico according to the SAE J4000 standard. Moreover, the involvement of suppliers and the use of lean tools in processes are higher in the State of Mexico compared to automotive industries in Spain and Brazil. However, previous studies ranked the State of Mexico at a lower level of LM in contrast with Spain and Brazil production lines.

Pahang is a state that is constantly intensifying development efforts to ensure the well-being of its people in achieving the target of becoming a viable state by 2050. However, the Covid-19 pandemic crisis has threatened the well-being of the population, especially the negative impact on the socio-economic landscape. As a result, almost all economic and social sectors were closed and has resulted in workers experiencing wage reductions, layoffs, and consequently rising unemployment rates. Therefore, Pahang state government needs to optimize all the opportunities available, among them is throughout efficient and effective management of employment resources. This study is a case study under the topic of employment resource management for the Pahang state government. The main objective of this study is to support Pahang state government in identifying the projected source of labor for the year 2020-2025, especially in the industrial sector. Apart from that, this study also seeks to help the Pahang state government by identifying factors related to the development of the industrial sector in line with the increase in employment resources. To realize the objectives of the study, secondary data were fully used in the data analysis. The results of the data analysis have projected that employment resources in the state of Pahang will increase approximately by 5,000 people a year and will reach a total of 1.77 million by 2025. The total labor force also increased from 748,000 in 2021 to 767,300 people in 2025 with Labor Force Participation Rate equivalent to 63.31%. At the same time the projection also records the total external labor force increasing to 42,400 people although at the same time the total working population increased to 733,600 people. The study also proposes employment projections in the industrial sector from 2021 to 2025. It is hoped that various initiatives that are implemented by various stakeholders to the industrial sector in Pahang could offers innovative employment opportunities to various sections of society to enhance socio-economic growth and spread the wellbeing to the society.

This chapter focuses on re-interpreting the findings of a recent study based on collaborative learning perspectives. The study utilized a case study design in which two online postgraduate courses were investigated as a collective case study. Online observations, analysis of the archived course content and interview transcripts were used as data collection techniques. The data from multiple sources were triangulated. Qualitative techniques were used in data analysis and descriptive statistics were integrated to extend the meaning of qualitative data. The findings of the study suggest that social interactivity is pivotal to facilitating meaningful learning in formal online education. The findings further illustrate that development of productive communities in continuing (in-service) education is a gradual process that evolves through four stages starting from community of interest to community of practice.

The purpose of this study is to know the IFRS 9 transition impact on the suitability and reliability of the quality of financial reporting information. A questionnaire was used in data collecting. Out of 92 questionnaires, only 85 were valid and suitable. The data analysis has been done by using SPSS and several statistical methods through descriptive statistics such as averages, standard deviations, and T-test. This study adds to the literature by knowing the IFRS 9 transition impact on the suitability and reliability of the quality of financial reporting information in the commercial banks of Yemen. The study reached that there is a positive relationship between the impact of the adoption of the IFRS9 on the suitability and reliability of the quality of financial reporting information in Yemen commercial banks. Finally, the study was concluded with some recommendations. Purpose: The main objective of this paper is to validate the results of the Lean manufacturing application via the DMAIC concept. This study concerns a case study carried out in an automotive company which aims at improving its flows within the production workshop by pulling the physical flow and minimizing the different wastes.   Methodology/Approach: By conducting a literature review to examine the different frameworks for applying the lean method and to extract case studies related to the DMAIC approach which is missing on the selected articles, only one article that addresses this possibility. Findings: DMAIC has allowed a better structuring of the entire project, choosing the right improvement solutions with the right choice of Lean tools and several advantages that are not valid for other frameworks. This implementation shows a spectacular improvement in the production planning, the fluidity of the flow as well as an important financial gain for the company. Research Limitation/Implication: The project duration was not sufficient to apply other beneficial lean tools as the study was limited only to a single production line. Originality/Value of paper: This article demonstrates the added value of the structured DMAIC approach to lean manufacturing methodology and implementation.

The research aims to identify the problems that hinder the production process and the most important of these problems is the waste and waste of the available resources, whether in the raw materials used in production or the waste of the time it takes to complete the production process. And the obstacles and benefits achieved from them, using the descriptive analytical method to study the basic hypothesis that says that the use of lean manufacturing tools leads to reducing waste and loss in the production process. The research has concluded that the application of the lean system leads to reducing waste and loss in the production process and thus create value for the customer The use of lean manufacturing tools creates products that meet market needs and according to the level of demand. Among the most important recommendations is the necessity for productive institutions to take into account product quality and not focus on reducing costs in order to meet the customer's desire.

Abstract This work, developed as a case study, propose, describe, and evaluates an implementation of a pull system in a SME company producing polymeric components for the automotive industry. The production system of the company was based on the push paradigm, which creates high stock levels and high lead times. The main purpose was to develop a pull production system controlled by Kanbans in the painting line. To achieve this goal, this case study demonstrates the application of relevant lean tools, such as, VSM, SMED, Kanban System, Supermarkets and Leveling. Through the SMED’s application, it was possible to reduce the setup times in 38% and make annual earnings of approximately 83000€. The application of a Kanban System, Leveling and Supermarket enabled the WIP’s reduction between injection and painting in 56% and, also, between painting and expedition in 45%. Also, the lead time decreased and the value-added time increased. Thus, this is an exemplary case study for the implementation of a pull system and can be used both by practitioners and researchers interested in this theme.

Abstract Complex systems consist of many cooperating devices. To have a transparent view on the system structure, as well as on the structural interconnections and cooperation of the subsystems, it is useful to synthesize the complex systems systematically in a prescribed order, even in analytical terms (if possible). The supervision of the subsystems seems to be a very suitable approach to accomplish these demands, and consequently it makes the complex systems diagnostics easier. The substantial agents (i.e., the agents of material nature − e.g., devices like particular production lines, robots, numerically controlled machines, etc.) can be coordinated and forced to cooperation by means of efficiently synthesized supervisors. The cooperation process has the character of DES (Discrete-Event Systems), because any system (including continuous systems), has minimally two discrete states - idle and working. DES control theory can be successfully utilized in supervisor synthesis. There are several approaches to modeling the agents and the process of supervisor synthesis. The Petri net-based approach is one of them. Place/Transition Petri Nets (P/T PN) are used here for modeling the behaviour of particular agents, as well as in the computational parocess used for the supervisor synthesis. Two main methods of the P/T PN-based supervision will be used, namely (i) the supervision based on the place invariants (P-invariants) of P/T PN, utilizing only the state vector during the supervisor synthesis, and (ii) the extended supervision utilizing not only the state vector, but also the control vector and Parikh’s vector. The efficiency of the proposed approach is illustrated in a case study.
