In this paper a historical overview is presented dealing with the conception and development of devices that can be considered as robots today with the aim to identify the future challenges for roboticists. Clipperton Atoll is one of the most isolated tropical island in the world and the only atoll of the eastern Pacific. Its outer slopes also make the largest coral reef of this region. Clipperton is a remarkable site for the geochemistry of its closed eutrophic stratified lagoon, the influence of both tropical eastern Pacific and Oceania gene pool on coral reef communities, the low diversity of the marine and land fauna, and for the equilibrium of its land ecosystem. The three components of the Clipperton Atoll seascape (coral reef-lagoon-land) all appear to have remarkable properties and history. All components experienced important changes in the last century due to anthropogenic (importation of exogenous species) or natural perturbations (closing of passes, coral bleaching). Here, we review the history of these three systems (land-lagoon-coral reef) and provide new insights of the current status of the atoll based on recent surveys and high resolution IKONOS satellite imagery. Most dramatic changes occurring in the last decades include explosion in crab Gecarcinus planatus population, almost-complete desertification of the island and increase in Masked Boobies Sula dactylatra population, making Clipperton Atoll one of the most important sites for this specie in the world. This review intends to provide a sound basis to discuss the future of Clipperton balanced between conservation and development priorities, and to raise awareness on the future of a delicate ecosystem.

In the previous two parts of this series, we discussed the history and current status of quantitative geography. In this final part, we focus on the future. We argue that quantitative geographers are most helpful when we can simplify difficult problems using our distinct domain expertise. To do this, we must clarify the theory underpinning core conceptual problems in quantitative geography. Then, we examine the social forces that are shaping the future of quantitative geography. We conclude with criteria for how quantitative geography might succeed in addressing these challenges.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to assess the influence of the Italian comparative law scholarship outside its national boundaries, and particularly in Latin America, where it has had its strongest impact. In order to achieve our goal we will start by sketching a picture of the current status of the Italian comparative law, tracing its roots, explaining its development and analyzing its weaknesses and strengths. After exploring its reception in South America, we will ultimately try to envisage the future challenges, directions and contributions of the Italian Theory – as we labeled the Italian comparative law “way”.

Industry 4.0 is a key activity as of late presented by the German government. The objective of the activity is a change of mechanical fabricating through digitization and misuse of possibilities of new advancements. An Industry 4.0 generation framework is in this way adaptable and empowers individualized and modified items. The point of this chapter is to introduce and encourage a comprehension of Industry 4.0 ideas, its drivers, empowering influences, objectives, impediments. Building squares are depicted and a keen industrial facility idea is displayed. An architecture model and job of institutionalization in the future execution of Industry 4.0 idea are addressed. Also, sure contextual investigations of organizations, for example, Bosche and Siemens case studies, have been mentioned. These case studies emphasize on practical implementation of Industry 4.0 and future challenges to deal with successful adoption of Industry 4.0. The current status of Industry 4.0 availability in the German organizations is introduced and remarked.

AbstractLegal Information Management has reached 50 years since it was launched, under a different name, by the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL). In this article the current editor of the journal, David Wills, reviews the history of the journal from its launch in spring 1970 when it took the name The Law Librarian, and describes how it has evolved, often reflecting the changing nature of the legal information profession in those intervening years. He follows the journey as this periodical developed from small beginnings, explains how it was enhanced by successive editors, why it became necessary to change its title in 2001 and describes the move to the current publisher, Cambridge University Press in 2004. He reflects on the current status of the journal, as an electronic product while also retaining its profile in print and, finally, he draws attention to some possible challenges for the future.

Abstract This review paper describes the history of development, current issues, and future expectations of UV-B laser diodes, which are expected to be adopted in various applications such as microfabrication and biotechnology in the near future. In order to achieve room temperature operation of this device, there were several challenges are remained, including the development of a crystal growth technique of high crystalline quality AlGaN that enables a laser oscillation with a low excitation carrier density, and the development of a semiconductor layer structure that simultaneously formation of a desirable optical cavity and injection of high density carriers (operation of high current density) to active layer allowing for laser oscillation. These challenges and the technologies that have overcome them are reviewed. Current status of the device characteristics and future challenges are also discussed.
