The paper presents the results of the research of relation of sex and gender roles, more precisely, how much the degree of egalitarianism in attitudes toward gender roles depends on the category and the level of adopted sex role. The sample included 236 subjects of both sexes with high education between the ages of 25 to 65, in central and south Serbia. For the evaluation of gender role BSRI (Bem) was used and for egalitarianism in attitudes SRES (Raboteg-Saric, Ravlic). The results show that egalitarianism of attitudes is positively correlated with femininity (p<0.01) and negatively with masculinity (p<0.05). The adoption of androgyne sex role is evident in men (p<0.01) and the adoption of feminine but also of masculine role in women which correlates positively with egalitarianism in attitudes (p<0.05). Younger respondents show more femininity and more egalitarianism, but also androgyny which correlates negatively with egalitarianism (p<0.05). Considering the location of respondents we found that those who grew up in urban areas show greater egalitarianism in attitudes (p<0.01), but greater masculinity as well (p<0.05).

The purpose of this study was to investigate if religious tendency and gender roles predicted attitudes of Turkish university students towards women's work roles. The study was conducted with 138 students from the Educational Sciences faculty of Ankara University. The Attitude Towards Women's Work Roles Scale (Kuzgun & Sevin, 2004), Religious Tendency Scale (Onay, 1997, 2002), and Bem Sex-Role Inventory (Bem, 1981) were the tools employed in order to collect data. The findings revealed that the thought dimension of religious tendency, feminine and androgynous gender roles significantly predicted attitudes towards women's work roles.

This research aimed to measure the level of androgyny of Sanata Dharma University students. The subjects were 100 students of Sanata Dharma University consisted of men and women of age 18 to 22 years old participating the research. There search uses quantitative approach parallel with descriptive method. The only variable is androgyny, which composed of masculinity and femininity equally in one individual. The instrument to measure is Bem Sex Role Inventory which adopted to Indonesian language. The test was taken to measure the androgyny by descriptive analysis and gender roles division based on group median scores of masculine and feminine scale. The analysis has resulted in greater masculine mean empirical value than mean theoretical value {87,28 >73,5} which exposing higher average of the group than its average theoretical value, therefore means the subjects has the tendency of high masculinity. In addition, the analysis has resulted in larger feminine mean empirical value than its average theoretical value, consequently means the research subject has the tendency of high femininity {88,43 >70} which featuring higher average group value than its average theoretical, which means widely the research subject has the tendency of high femininity. All things considered, the gender roles division from 100 students have explained that 70% of them have androgyny gender roles, while other 30% have masculinity, femininity and or undifferentiated. Finally, the students of Sanata Dharma University aged of 18 to 22 years old mostly have gender roles of androgyny

Sexual attraction is an essential part of sex, just as the instrumental and expressive traits are the mainstay of gender. Various hypotheses concerning the dimensionality and independence versus dependence/overlapping of these core entities were tested. A group of 423 university students completed the Sexual Attraction Questionnaire (SAQ; Fernández, Quiroga, & Rodríguez, 2006) and the 12-item Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI; Bem, 1974). Internal consistency and factor analyses (PAF) were conducted. The results support the dimensionality established for the SAQ and reveal some psychometric and conceptual weaknesses of the 12-item BSRI. The results also support the independence of the two cores: sexual attraction and the instrumental and expressive traits. The logical implications for the different viewpoints of the relations between sex and gender are discussed.

In this study, the relationships between university students and their perceptions of gender roles and epistemological beliefs were investigated. Gender roles are a phenomenon that are determined by culture, and begin to emerge at an early age, which may include some stereotypical behaviors along with a number of attitudes, duties and obligations that the individual is expected to perform as a woman or a man. Epistemological belief is seen as an individual feature of how knowing and learning take place. In this study, a mixed method was used. The quantitative study group consists of 517 students from both universities, while the qualitative study group consists of 85 people. Gender Role Attitudes Scale and Epistemological Beliefs Scale were used to collect quantitative data. In order to obtain qualitative data, participants were given a form consisting of open-ended questions. According to the analyses, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the participants' epistemological beliefs and gender roles attitudes and, epistemological beliefs were a significant predictor of gender roles attitudes. The results obtained are discussed in line with the existing literature.

Article visualizations:

This study aims to evaluate the mediation role of resilience on the link between self-efficacy and competitiveness among university students in Malaysia. One hundred and thirty-six participants from several universities in Malaysia were recruited to respond to an online form consisted of the following scales: adapted versions of brief resilience scale from Smith et al, self-efficacy scale from Biemann, Kearney and Marggraf, and Personal Development Competitive Attitude Scale from Ryckman, Hammer, Kaczor and Gold. Data was analyzed by using SPSS with PROCESS Macro and full mediation has been observed. Bias-corrected bootstrap confidence interval test indicated that the indirect effect of self-efficacy on competitiveness was significant and the Sobel test had confirmed the significance of the mediation. Further discussion, limitation and suggestion are discussed in the end of the paper.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of opportunity recognition and entrepreneurial self-efficacy on the entrepreneurial intention of Indian university students. This paper also examines the moderating role of entrepreneurship education and gender on the opportunity recognition–intention and self-efficacy–intention relationships.Design/methodology/approachThe data were collected through a comprehensive questionnaire from 334 students having business and management background. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to ensure the reliability and validity of all the constructs, and structural equation modeling was used to test the proposed hypotheses.FindingsThis study unveils three important findings. First, opportunity recognition and self-efficacy both show a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurial intention of students. Second, education positively moderates “self-efficacy–intention relationship”, and third, gender negatively moderates “opportunity recognition–intention” and “self-efficacy–intention” relationships.Research limitations/implicationsThis study has been carried out using a sample of students from only one university, and the study included only business and management background students. Similar studies can be conducted by adding more motivational and contextual factors with an increased sample size of students having different educational backgrounds.Practical implicationsThis study provides pragmatic support to formulate new educational initiatives that can support students in their present or future entrepreneurial projects.Originality/valueThis study adds to the scarce literature on opportunity recognition and entrepreneurial intention and also highlights the moderating role of entrepreneurship education and gender on opportunity recognition–intention and entrepreneurial self-efficacy–intention relationships.
