Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) is a time series data forecasting technique that uses fuzzy theory concepts. Forecasting systems using FTS are useful for capturing patterns of past data and then to using it to produce information in the future. Initially in the FTS each pattern of relations formed was considered to have the same weight besides using only the first order. In its development the Weighted Fuzzy Integrated Time Series (WFITS) which gave a difference in the weight of each relation and high order usage has been appeared. Measuring the accuracy of forecasting results is used the value of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). In this study both the first-order and high-order WFITS methods were applied to forecast rice prices in Indonesia based on data from January 2011 to December 2017. In this regard, the results of the analysis obtained data forecasting using Lee's high-order model WFITS algorithm (1,2,3) giving the value of RMSE and MAPE on the data testing in a row as many as 69,898 and 0.47% while for the RMSE and MAPE on the training data is as many as 70.4039 and 0.54%. Keywords: Fuzzy Time Series, Weighted Fuzzy Integrated Time Series, RMSE, MAPE, High-Order, Rice Prices

Import is one of the efforts of an area to meet the needs of its population in order to stabilize prices and maintain stock availability. The value of imports in Central Java throughout 2016 amounted to 8811.05 Million US Dollars. The value of imports in Central Java is the top 10 in all provinces in Indonesia with a percentage of 6.50%. Import data in Central Java is included in the time series data category. To maintain the stability of imports in Central Java, it is deemed necessary to make a plan based on a statistical model. One of the time series models that can be applied is the fuzzy time series model with the Chen method approach and the S. R. Singh method because the method is suitable for cyclical patterned data with monthly time periods such as Import data in Central Java. Important concepts in the preparation of the model are fuzzy sets, membership functions, set basic operators, fuzzy variables, universe sets and domains. The fuzzy time series modeling procedure is carried out through several stages, namely the determination of universe discourse which is divided into several intervals, then defines the fuzzy set so that it can be performed fuzzification. After that the fuzzy logical relations and fuzzy logical group relations are determined. The accuracy calculation in both methods uses symmetric Mean Absolute Percentage Error (sMAPE). In this study the sMAPE value obtained in the Fuzzy Time Series Chen method of 10.95% means that it shows good forecasting ability. While the sMAPE value on the Fuzzy Time Series method of S. R. Singh method by 5.50% shows very good forecasting ability. It can be concluded that the sMAPE value in the S. R. Singh fuzzy time series method is better than the Chen method. Keywords: Import value, fuzzy time series , Chen, S. R. Singh, sMAPE

Simulation study is used when real world data is hard to find or time consuming to gather and it involves generating data set by specific statistical model or using random sampling. A simulation of the process is useful to test theories and understand behavior of the statistical methods. This study aimed to compare ARIMA and Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) model in order to identify the best model for forecasting time series data based on 100 replicates on 100 generated data of the ARIMA (1,0,1) model. There are 16 scenarios used in this study as a combination between 4 data generation variance error values (0.5, 1, 3,5) with 4 ARMA(1,1) parameter values. Furthermore, The performances were evaluated based on three metric mean absolute percentage error (MAPE),Root mean squared error (RMSE) and Bias statistics criterion to determine the more appropriate method and performance of model. The results of the study show a lowest bias for the chen fuzzy time series model and the performance of all measurements is small then other models. The results also proved that chen method is compatible with the advanced forecasting techniques in all of the consided situation in providing better forecasting accuracy.

Receiving appropriate forecast accuracy is important in many countries’ economic activities, and developing effective and precise time series model is critical issue in tourism demand forecasting. In this paper, fuzzy rule-based system model for hotel occupancy forecasting is developed by analyzing 40 months’ time series data and applying fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm. Based on the values of root mean square error and mean absolute percentage error which are metrics for measuring forecast accuracy, it is defined that the model with 7 clusters and 4 inputs is the optimal forecasting model for hotel occupancy.

Price is one of the important things that need to concern as defining factor of the profit or loss of product selling as the result of price fluctuations that are very difficult to control. Price fluctuations are caused by many factors including weather, stock availability, demand and others. One of the steps to solve the price fluctuations problem is by making a forecast of fish incoming prices. The purpose of this study is to apply Markov chain’s fuzzy time series to forecast farming fish prices. Markov chain fuzzy time series is one of the prediction methods to predict time series data that has advantages in the implentation of historical data, flexible, and high level of data forecasting accuracy. This study used fish prices at November 2018. The results showed that markov chain fuzzy time series showed very accurate forecasting results with a mean error percentage of absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 1.4% so the accuracy of the Markov chain fuzzy time series method is 98, 6%.

In forecasting the fuzzy time series data, several authors took grades of membership 1, 0.5 and 0 for linguistic interval corresponding to fuzzy set. In this paper, we have proposed high-order approach for forecasting the fuzzy time series data by using the grade of membership value defined for each datum corresponding to triangular fuzzy sets and fuzzify the historical data by triangular fuzzy sets which have their maximum membership values. Also, we establish high-order fuzzy logical relationship groups and give a new technique for defuzzification process, by which we can compute the forecasted value in a more efficient way with lower value of MSE. For verifying the suitability of proposed method, we illustrate time series data of student enrollments at the University of Alabama, USA, and crop (Lahi) production of Pantnagar farm, G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India. The forecasting accuracy rate of proposed high-order forecasting method is better than those of existing methods and the forecasted production is much closer to the actual production.

Consumption of water in the Tangerang Regency continuously increases from year to year due to the increasing population and birth rates an average increase of 3% every year. So, the water demand prediction to be important to meet customer or community needs. The private water utility company needs to use a new method for predicting future monthly water consumption values and improves accuracy when forecasting time series using a visibility graph and presents to make more accurate predictions. In this study, we aim to measure the trend analysis volume of water consumption prediction by Fuzzy Time Series versus actual usage volume.  Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) is a concept plan method that uses fuzzy logic that is able to provide predictions (estimates) of time series data analysis for the next several periods. Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) is obtained for different configurations of the input sets and of the FTS model structure. From the results of the average value error accuracy was only 4.5% using FTS Chen Method and included in the low category and water consumption actual versus prediction with the FTS Chen method shown related stable.

Abstract Real-time information mining of a big dataset consisting of time series data is a very challenging task. For this purpose, we propose using the mean distance and the standard deviation to enhance the accuracy of the existing fast incremental model tree with the drift detection (FIMT-DD) algorithm. The standard FIMT-DD algorithm uses the Hoeffding bound as its splitting criterion. We propose the further use of the mean distance and standard deviation, which are used to split a tree more accurately than the standard method. We verify our proposed method using the large Traffic Demand Dataset, which consists of 4,000,000 instances; Tennet’s big wind power plant dataset, which consists of 435,268 instances; and a road weather dataset, which consists of 30,000,000 instances. The results show that our proposed FIMT-DD algorithm improves the accuracy compared to the standard method and Chernoff bound approach. The measured errors demonstrate that our approach results in a lower Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) in every stage of learning by approximately 2.49% compared with the Chernoff Bound method and 19.65% compared with the standard method.
