AbstractOne of the issues related to formation flights, which requires to be still discussed, is the stability of formation flight in turns, where the aerodynamic conditions can be substantially different for outer vehicles due to varying bank angles. Therefore, this paper proposes a decentralized control algorithm based on a leader as the reference point for followers, i.e. other UAVs and two flocking behaviors responsible for local position control, i.e. cohesion and repulsion. But opposite to other research in this area, the structure of the formation becomes flexible (structure is being reshaped and bent according to actual turn radius of the leader. During turns the structure is bent basing on concentred circles with different radiuses corresponding to relative locations of vehicles in the structure. Simultaneously, UAVs' air-speeds must be modified according to the length of turn radius to achieve the stability of the structure. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by the results of simulated flights of five UAVs.

SUMMARYThis paper addresses the trajectory tracking control problem for a quadrotor aerial vehicle, equipped with a robotic manipulator (aerial manipulator). The controller is organized in two layers: in the top layer, an inverse kinematics algorithm computes the motion references for the actuated variables; in the bottom layer, a motion control algorithm is in charge of tracking the motion references computed by the upper layer. To the purpose, a model-based control scheme is adopted, where modelling uncertainties are compensated through an adaptive term. The stability of the proposed scheme is proven by resorting to Lyapunov arguments. Finally, a simulation case study is proposed to prove the effectiveness of the approach.

Existing hybrid force/position control algorithms mostly explicitly contain a dynamic model. Moreover, force and position controllers will be switched frequently. To solve the above problems, a novel voltage-based weighted hybrid force/position control algorithm is proposed for redundant robot manipulators. Firstly, mapping between voltage and terminal position and orientation is established so that the designed controller can be simplified by adopting the motor current as the feedback to replace the tedious calculation of the dynamic model. Secondly, a voltage-based weighted hybrid force/position control algorithm is proposed to eliminate the selection matrix. Force and position control laws are summed directly through a weighted way to avoid the problems of space decomposition and switching. Thirdly, the stability is proven using Lyapunov stability theory, then the selection method for weighted coefficient is provided. Fourthly, comparative simulations are performed. Results show that the proposed algorithm is suitable for impedance control and hybrid force/position control and can compensate for their deficiencies. Lastly, the transport experiment in the YZ plane is conducted. Results show that position and force accuracies in the Y- and Z-axis directions are 3.489 × 10−4 and 7.313 × 10−4 m and 1.238 × 10−1 and 1.997 × 10−1 N, respectively. Accordingly, it can effectively improve the operation capability and control accuracy.

Distributed generators (DGs) based on renewable energy systems such as wind turbines, solar panels, and storage systems, are key in transforming the current electric grid into a green and sustainable network. These DGs are called inverter-interfaced systems because they are integrated into the grid through power converters. However, inverter-interfaced systems lack inertia, deteriorating the stability of the grid as frequency and voltage oscillations emerge. Additionally, when DGs are connected to the grid, its robustness against unbalanced conditions must to be ensured. This paper presents a robust control scheme for power regulation in DGs, which includes inertia and operates under unbalanced conditions. The proposed scheme integrates a robust control algorithm to ensured power regulation, despite unbalanced voltages. The control algorithm is an artificial hydrocarbon network controller, which is a chemically-inspired technique, based on carbon networks, that provides stability, robustness, and accuracy. The robustness and stability of the proposed control scheme are tested using Lyapunov techniques. Simulation, considering one- and three-phase voltage sags, is executed to validate the performance of the control scheme.

Teleoperation systems have been developed in order to manipulate objects in environments where the presence of humans is impossible, dangerous or less effective. One of the most attractive applications is micro telemanipulation with micropositioning actuators. Due to the sensitivity of this operation, task performance should be accurately considered. The presence of force signals in the control scheme could effectively improve transparency. However, the main restriction is force measurement in micromanipulation scales. A new modified strategy for estimating the external forces acting on the master and slave robots is the major contribution of this paper. The main advantage of this strategy is that the necessity for force sensors is eliminated, leading to lower cost and further applicability. A novel control algorithm with estimated force signals is proposed for a general nonlinear macro–micro bilateral teleoperation system with time delay. The stability condition in the macro–micro teleoperation system with the new control algorithm is verified by means of Lyapunov stability analysis. The designed control algorithm guarantees stability of the macro–micro teleoperation system in the presence of an estimated operator and environmental force. Experimental results confirm the efficiency of the novel control algorithm in position tracking and force reflection.

Quadrotor is a kind of popular unmanned aerial vehicle which obtains prime advantages in simple structure, vertically taking off and landing and hovering ability; hence it possesses wide application prospects in reconnaissance and rescue, geological exploration and video surveillance. However, attitude and position control of the quadrotor are challenging tasks because it is an under-actuated system with strong nonlinear, coupling and model uncertainty characteristics. In this paper, the dynamics model and the state space function of the micro-quadrotor are firstly established. Then, a cascade control scheme is proposed to decouple the control system and a multivariate RBF(Radial Basis Function) neural network control PID algorithm is proposed to realize robust control of the quadrotor. This algorithm is not only characterized by simple structure and easy implementation, but also capable of self-adaption and online learning. Simulation results show that the proposed control algorithm performs well in tracking and under disturbances and model uncertainties.

A decentralized control scheme can effectively solve the control problem of civil engineering structure vibration under earthquake. This paper takes a research into the decentralized control scheme of adjacent buildings when the earthquake happens. It combines overlapping decentralized control method and linear matrix inequality (LMI) with H ∞ control algorithm and puts forward the overlapping decentralized H ∞ control method. A simplified dynamical model of structural vibration control has been established considering the topology structural features of adjacent buildings. The H ∞ control algorithm is applied into each dynamically different subsystems and can be also served as the decentralized H ∞ controllers. Therefore, by contracting decentralized H ∞ controllers to original state space, overlapping decentralized H ∞ controllers are obtained. In this manner, the adjacent buildings’ structure model is analyzed in terms of simulation and calculation which provides a comprehensive insight into vibration control. The results show that the centralized control, the decentralized control, and the overlapping decentralized control, based on linear matrix inequality, can be nearly effective in cases above satisfactorily. Besides, it can also reduce the computational cost as well as increase the flexibility of controller design.

The vibration control system of a building structure under a strong earthquake can be regarded as a large complex system composed of a series of overlapping subsystems. In this paper, the overlapping decentralized control of building structure vibration under seismic excitation is studied. Combining the overlapping decentralized control method, H∞ control algorithm, and passive fault-tolerant control method, a passive fault-tolerant overlapping decentralized control method based on the H∞ control algorithm is proposed. In this paper, the design of robust H∞ finite frequency passive fault-tolerant static output feedback controller for each subsystem is studied. The fault matrix of the subcontroller is expressed by a polyhedron with finite vertices. In order to reduce the influence of external disturbance on the controlled output, the finite frequency H∞ control is adopted and the Hamiltonian matrix is avoided. In this paper, the passive fault-tolerant overlapping decentralized control method based on H∞ control algorithm is applied to the vibration control system of the four-story building structure excited by the Hachinohe seismic wave. One drive is set on each layer of the structure, and a total of four drives are set. Select the driver fault factor of 0.5 or 1 and the frequency band [0.3, 8] Hz. The overlapping decentralized control scheme and 16 fault-tolerant fault matrices are designed, and the numerical comparison results are given. The results show that both overlapping decentralized control strategy and multioverlapping decentralized control strategy have achieved good control results. Due to the different number of subsystems and overlapping information, the overlapping decentralized control scheme increases the flexibility of controller setting and reduces the computational cost.

MPC also known as moving or receding horizon control, is a feedback control scheme that has originated in industry as a real-time computer control algorithm to solve linear and nonlinear multi-variable problems that have constraints and time delays. Since disturbances can drive model predictive control into non-convexity and instability this problem has attracted many researchers. The stability studies in this paper are illustrated in presence of colored noise, error in delay estimation, unstable and non-minimum phase system by means of numerical example. The simulation is carried out using an example, which is the main contribution of the paper.
