AbstractThis text is devoted to a discussion of current achievements in the psychology of creativity, as well as to the further development of the field. It is concerned with a criticism of former and current theses in the field of the psychology of creativity discussed by Glăveanu (2014). The arguments presented indicate that, despite Glăveanu’s (2014) proposition, the psychology of creativity is not in crisis. It is pointed out that the difference in views between supporters of the social psychology approach to creativity and psychology researchers oriented towards the study of creative potential on how to conduct creativity research, stems from a concentration on different levels of creativity, and not necessarily from an ineffective theory of creativity. As a consequence of these different perceptions of creativity at its particular levels, determining the prime standard of creative potential is not sufficient to understand the social conditioning of creative activity and the social assessment of creativity, and vice versa.

Annotation. The paper presents the results of statistical calculations of psychophysiological examinations of 80 military pilots and flight navigators with different levels of suitability for flight performance. The authors analyze the effects of the temporal factor (after the vacation leave) on the psychophysiological qualities of military pilots, other indices of individual typological and psychodynamic qualities which prove to be the indicator of the possibilities of man’s adaptation to the conditions of the task performance. With respect to investigating the above possibilities, we have determined the time period for carrying out their assessment with the aim of determining reasonably the level of the military pilot professional suitability. This makes it possible to timely prevent the negative changes in the state of health and professionally important qualities of pilots in order to support and rehabilitate their readiness for performing the tasks assigned. When carrying out the investigation we managed to take into account the external criteria of success rate in performing the professional duties of pilots: the efficiency of professional activities, the pilot’s qualification and total flight hours. The authors also reveal the difference in the correlation of psychophysiological functions in pilots suitable and unsuitable for performing their professional duties. The authors suggest the up-to-date methodical approaches to monitoring the psychophysiological qualities with the aim of the further development on this basis the criteria for the professional suitability of the pilot. Special solution rules of determining the level of suitability of military pilots for performing their professional duties are developed.

AbstractFor about three decades, cartography has been (critically) studied from a theoretical perspective. This perspective has contributed to the recognition of the social preconditions and effects of cartographic representations, but little to their further development. From the theory of three worlds, a theory of three spaces or its special case of landscapes is derived, whose modes of construction are presented as well as the derivations from the different modes. The categories of material, virtual and their combination of augmented spaces as well as the media (such as painting, texts or models) of the construction of space/landscape are added. The formulas derived from this illustrate the different aspects and relations of the constructions of space on the different levels and against the background of the different categories. Thus developed, the theory of three spaces or landscapes provides a framework for neopragmatic exploration, here, of maps, virtual and augmented spaces.

The present article gives an overview of sociocultural approaches to creativity and advances a particular theory of the creative process grounded in the notions of difference, position, perspective, dialogue, and affordance. If sociocultural psychology challenges old dichotomies between mind and body, individual and society, then creativity is ideally placed to demonstrate their interdependence. While sociocultural thinking in creativity research has traditionally emphasized the social or collaborative nature of creative processes, recovering old scholarship and reviewing it in light of current empirical developments shows how socio-materiality can properly inform psychological theory in this area. The article starts with an outline of sociocultural principles before considering their application to creativity. It then formulates four propositions regarding the creative process: (a) differences of perspective increase creative potential; (b) exchanging positions and perspectives, within and between individuals, fosters creative processes; (c) these exchanges result in perspectives that reveal previously unperceived affordances; and (d) oftentimes, it is the affordances of material objects or of unique idea combinations that guide the development of novel perspectives in creative work. Evidence supporting these key hypotheses of the perspective-affordance theory of creativity (PAT) comes from research conducted in a variety of areas within psychology and in related fields. In the end, the methodological and practical implications of considering creativity as a process of recognizing differences, exchanging positions, developing perspectives and discovering affordances will be discussed, as well as the broader implications of building theories that bring together, rather than keep separate, the social, the material, and the psychological.
