Abstract The new female bulletproof vest was designed with a superior female fit, this body armour providing a good balance between protection and comfort. One of the new issues in designing the female ballistic vest consists in taking into account the shape and bras size of Romanian female body, based on anthropometric survey using the 3D scanner technology. This bulletproof vest will provide comfort and mobility with the same or superior ballistic resistance properties versus standard body armour equipment. The ballistic performance parameters have been evaluated, in agreement with the international standards, in specialized laboratories of the Romanian MoD.

The present study analyzes the effect of pressure dam depth and relief track depth on the performance of three-lobe pressure dam bearing. Different values of dam depth and relief track depth are taken in nondimensional form in order to analyze their effect. Results are plotted for different parameters against eccentricity ratios and it is shown that the effect of pressure dam depth and relief track depth has great significance on stability and other performance parameters. Study of stability and performance characteristics is undertaken simultaneously.

The aim of this study was to examine the physical and selected performance characteristics of 9-week High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on sedentary university students. Participants were separated two groups as HIIT and control group (CG). HIIT group applied training 3 times a week for 9 weeks. CG was not applied any training. Before and after HIIT training program, the subjects were applied to age, height, body weight (BW), body mass index (BMI) tests for physical parameters and standing long jump (SLJ), vertical jump (VJ), 10-20 m sprint, T agility test (TAT), star excursion balance test (SEBT), running-based anaerobic sprint test (RAST) for performance parameters. Multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used to analyze of inter-group, intra group and the effect of training in repeated measurements. Bonferroni test was used for Post Hoc comparisons; the significance level was accepted as 0.05. There was a significant difference in BW, BMI and all performance parameters in favor of HIIT group. HIIT provided effective development to physical and performance characteristics of university students.

Paper deals with the test procedure for evaluating performance parameters of the heat pump air water system. The objective of measurements was tuning errors and optimizes the work of the whole system. The main aim was to find the most acceptable evaporator with which the heat pump COP reached the best results. Choosing of the evaporator consisted of comparing the operating and performance characteristics of individual exchangers.

The clinical hemostasis laboratory is a complex testing arena which employs numerous coagulation assays and spans several different test methodologies. Adding further complexity, these test results are expressed in a wide variety of unique units (concentration, activity, time, percentage, and ratio). Unfortunately, many of these reference values are derived from a local plasma pool or manufacturer's standards, as there are few established international standards. These three main issues complicate the validation and performance of the coagulation testing. Before an assay can be introduced into clinical use, both analytical and clinical performance parameters must be validated or verified using the standard validation procedures of the laboratory. This article summarizes the initial evaluation and validation processes of the coagulation laboratory, which sometimes can be difficult concepts to implement. A standardized validation protocol is described in this article and, if used, will help to objectively evaluate the assay performance and determine if it meets acceptable laboratory criteria.

The development of armour systems with higher ballistic resistance and light weight has gained considerable attention as an increasing number of countries are recognising the need to build up advanced self-defence system to deter potential military conflicts and threats. Graphene is a two dimensional one-atom thick nanomaterial which possesses excellent tensile strength (130 GPa) and specific penetration energy (10 times higher than steel). It is also lightweight, tough and stiff and is expected to replace the current aramid fibre-based polymer composites. Currently, insights derived from the study of the nacre (natural armour system) are finding applications on the development of artificial nacre structures using graphene-based materials that can achieve high toughness and energy dissipation. The aim of this review is to discuss the potential of graphene-based nanomaterials with regard to the penetration energy, toughness and ballistic limit for personal body armour applications. This review addresses the cutting-edge research in the ballistic performance of graphene-based materials through theoretical, experimentation as well as simulations. The influence of fabrication techniques and interfacial interactions of graphene-based bioinspired polymer composites for ballistic application are also discussed. This review also covers the artificial nacre which is shown to exhibit superior mechanical and toughness behaviours.
