AbstractWith the curriculum reform of the basic school in the Republic of Slovenia, the experiential learning and conducting classes outside the classroom become one of the more important starting points for the subject of Environmental Studies, which is taught in the first three years. With the empirical study, we wanted to research which location is most often selected by educators for Environmental Studies outside the classroom, how often they conduct such activities, which work methods they use, how many hours out of total subject hours for Environmental Studies they dedicate to teaching outside the classroom, and in what form they wish to acquire additional knowledge on this subject. We discovered that educators, when teaching the subject of Environmental Studies outside the classroom, most often use an area located in direct vicinity of the school, and that the largest percentage of participants very often teaches the subject of Environmental Studies outside the classroom once per month. Both analyses showed certain statistically significant differences regarding the location of the school and the educator’s years of employment. The results showed that educators, when teaching the subject of Environmental Studies outside the classroom, most often use the method of direct observation, while the least used methods are work with texts and learning resources. Predominantly, educators dedicate up to 30% of total planned hours of the subject of Environmental Studies to conducting class outside the classroom. The analysis showed that educators want to obtain additional information, knowledge, and competence for teaching Environmental Studies outside the classroom primarily by examples of good practices.

This qualitative study was planned to identify the curiosity enhancing strategies (CES) and explore the challenges faced by teachers during the use of strategies at primary school students in the subject of science. Curiosity is the desire to acquire new knowledge through exploration in order to grow and expand understanding. Curiosity refers to the tendency of children to ask, investigate, and find out the new knowledge obtained from their environment. The researchers did not find a study in the literature that specifically examined identification of curiosity related strategies used by teachers in Pakistan. This research study was conducted to identify the curiosity related strategies used by the public sector school teachers in teaching Science to students enrolled in primary classes in Lahore. Purposive sampling technique was used for selection of the participants of the study. Data was collected from teachers and students of primary school (5th grade) level in science subject. Data from teachers was collected personally and on telephone. Data from students was collected through interviews by visiting the respective schools and after taking consent of the school principal. Two semi structured interview protocols were developed for taking responses at primary school level teachers and students. Data was analyzed by using thematic analysis technique. Findings of the study reflected that primary school teachers of the study were using different strategies for enhancing curiosity in students in the subject of Science. During the use of these strategies public sector primary school teachers faced many challenges like lack of resources, large strength of students in a classroom, lack of students attention, lack of parents cooperation. This study recommended that teachers and parents may use these strategies for enhancing curiosity in students.

The problem of pension financing in the system of mandatory pension insurance in the Republic of Serbia became actual after the great economic crisis of the 1990s, although this problem had been present before. Accordingly, considerable attention has been paid to the analysis of determinants of pension expenditures. Considering the fact that in the Republic of Serbia the possibilities for reducing expenditures in the system of mandatory state pension and disability insurance have already been exhausted by reforms so far, it is necessary to consider other measures and possibilities for changing the design of the pension disability system. Therefore, the subject of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between pension beneficiaries, the type and amount of pensions. The aim of the paper is to analyze the influence of the pension beneficiary and the type of pension on the amount of the pension, based on the analysis of the collected data.

The phenomenon of migration has transformed the Greek school into a multiethnic environment, reshaping the issues raised about good practices and the role the teacher plays in the smooth integration of diverse cultures, not only in the school but also in the wider Greek society. This paper examines how cultural diversity is managed in Greek primary schools by focusing on the content of teachers’ personal theories, which guide their actions, although those actions to a large extent show lack of consciousness. The study investigated the personal theories of five female primary school teachers in the Regional Unit of Pella in Central Macedonia, Greece, using qualitative research methods, through a variety of tools, such as teaching observation, in-depth interviews, and text analysis. These teachers, although teaching in mainstream schools, have students from other ethnic backgrounds in their classes.  The findings show that teachers’ personal theories on which they base how they manage cultural diversity are largely still determined by an assimilative approach.

The aim of the study was to clarify the impact of teachers’ own experience connected to the implementation of the curricular reform on their attitude towards the reform. Based on the previous research in the same field, the authors decided to focus on the state of the teachers’ attitudes during the three stages. The analyses dealt with the expectations of teachers before the implementation of the reform, crucial moments during the implementation of the reform into practice, and final teachers’ attitudes towards the reform today. For this purpose, three qualitative case studies were conducted focusing on three primary school teachers who were chosen based on their different attitude trajectories. The data which were gathered through the method of in-depth interviews were analysed by the means of qualitative content analysis. Initial expectations of all the three respondents can be characterized as positive because the reform was perceived as an opportunity to deepen teaching, enable specialization of a certain school and improve communication among teachers. Even though crucial moments of one of the teachers had positive connotations and led to her positive attitude, the other two teachers experienced mostly negative moments that included weak organisation support, not fulfilling the potential of the reform and underappreciation of teachers’ work. The negative moments led to the resistance towards the whole reform and its current form or to the search for compensation strategies which would allow the teacher to cope with the reform as it is.
