When a homogeneous amorphous Pd40.5Ni40.5P19 alloy was subjected to thermal annealing for 30 min at various temperatures, novel microstructures were observed. At an annealing temperature of 603 K, phase separation of the amorphous phase dominated. At 628 K, a precipitation reaction proceeded first. After its completion, a eutectic growth set in. At 638 K, metastable spinodal decomposition occurred first, followed by a eutectic growth. Finally at 673 K, crystal growth of crystalline spinodal network was fast enough to compete with a eutectic growth.

Impact Polypropylene Copolymer (IPC) is one of the PP type which is widely used. IPC was made with addition of ethylene in PP which decreases PP crystallinity. Many efforts have been made to improve the properties of PP crystallinity by addition of nucleating agents. In this study, we use Arenga Pinnata “Ijuk” fiber as PP nucleating agent. In order to determine the effect of “Ijuk” fiber as nucleating agents in kinetics aspect, we used DSC measurement based on Avrami equation. The results showed that the addition of ijuk decreases crystallizationhalf timeand dimension of crystal growth which indicate the effects of “Ijuk” fiber as a nucleating agent.

Amorphous soft magnetic materials have significant potential applications in specialist power transformers and in inductive devices. With the composition of Fe82Si8B10, 82% of the transition metals Fe and about 18% of metalloid or glass-former elements like B and Si are strongly magnetic at room temperature and offer dynamic opportunities for engineering applications. The crystallization kinetics has been studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA). The sample was annealed in a controlled way in the temperature range of 350-450°C at constant annealing time one hour. The kinetics of primary crystallization α-Fe(Si) phase and secondary crystallization Fe2B phase was studied as affected due to temperature. The sample annealed at 350oC temperature is almost unchanged which is still lower than that of primary crystallization temperature but the same condition when sample annealed at 450°C completely shows that the primary crystallization α-Fe(Si) phase has vanished and crystallization event took place to a good extent. ABSTRACTIn order to understand thickness and interfacial effects on the crystallization kinetics of amorphous solids, Ni(P) thin films electrolessly deposited on Cu seed layers were annealed at constant heating rates or at constant temperatures in a DSC to obtain activation energies andAvrami exponents. It was found that the activation energy of crystallization in Ni(P) changes asa function of sample thickness when the sample thickness is less than 1.0 μm. Furthermore, the Avrami exponent was found to change not only as a function of thickness but also as a function of annealing temperature.

Crystallization kinetics experiment of calcium sulfate dehydrates, which is prepared by bittern under 20°C and 120r/min conditions, is carried out. According to the results of the experimental data, nucleation densityn0of gypsum crystals is proportional to the residence time, and the rate of crystal growth lineGis inversely proportional to the residence time. Meanwhile, the crystallization kinetics formula is derived to be:B0= 5.78×102G0.87.

Continuous phase separation or spinodal decomposition occurs within a miscibility gap through the selective amplification of long wavelength concentration waves to produce a two-phase modulated microstructure. To comprehensively study the formation of these modulated microstructures and the kinetics of continuous phase separation the behavior of the composition fluctuations in the decomposing material should be monitored directly. The atom probe field-ion microscope is an ideal instrument for this type of investigation of fine-scale microstructures because of its ultra-high spatial resolution and microchemical analysis capability.
