AbstractWe report on experimental investigations of CexLa1-xF3 colloidal nanocrystals (CNCs) and their properties in function of Ce content. The CNCs were characterized by TEM, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), steady-state UV-VIS optical absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, and by PL lifetime measurements. We also report on observations of scintillation from the cerium-doped lanthanum fluoride CNC material in experiments on radiation detection.

AbstractThermodynamic parameters were assessed for the MgO–FeOx system and combined with already available descriptions of ZrO2-FeOx and ZrO2-MgO systems to calculate preliminary phase diagrams for planning experimental investigations. Samples of selected compositions were heat treated at 1523, 1673 and 1873 K and characterized using x-ray and scanning electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX). Experiments indicated extension of cubic ZrO2 solid solution into the ternary system at 1873 K (75 mol.% ZrO2, 10 mol.% FeOx and 15 mol.% MgO) and limited solubility of 4 mol.% ZrO2 in spinel phase. Based on the obtained results thermodynamic parameters of C-ZrO2 and spinel phase were optimized.

The CdS nanoparticles of different sizes are synthesized by a simple chemical method. Here, CdS nanoparticles are grown through the reaction of solution of different concentration of CdCl2 with H2S. X-ray diffraction pattern confirms nano nature of CdS and has been used to determine the size of particle. Optical absorption spectroscopy is used to measure the energy band gap of these nanomaterials by using Tauc relation. Energy band gap ranging between 3.12 eV to 2.47 eV have been obtained for the samples containing the nanoparticles in the range of 2.3 to 6.0 nm size. A correlation between the band gap and size of the nanoparticles is also established.

Natural dyes extracted from black rice are used as sensitizer for dye sensitized solar cell. The anthocyanin extracted with various pH in acidic and neutral coditions. Preparation of fotolectrode TiO2 film using doctor blade method and resulting average grain size 33,9 nm using X-Ray Diffractometer. Characterization of morphology and cross-section film TiO2 is confirmed by Scanning Electron microscopy (SEM). Optical absorption using UV-Visible Spectroscopy to obtain spectrum absorbance of anthocyanin in various pH. The current-voltage (J-V) characterization shows the performance DSSC have a match relation to the optical absorption. The best absorption of anthocyanin obtained at pH 6 as well as conversion efficiency reaches 2.26% at this pH condition.

ZnGa2O4 nanoparticles doped with lanthanide ions (Tb3+ and Eu3+) were prepared at a low temperature of 120 °C based on urea hydrolysis in ethylene glycol medium. X-ray diffraction studies have confirmed that strain associated with nanoparticles changes as Tb3+ gets incorporated in the ZnGa2O4 lattice. Based on steady state emission and excitation studies of ZnGa2O4:Tb nanoparticles, it has been inferred that ZnGa2O4 host is characterized by a broad emission around 427 nm and there exists energy transfer between the host and Tb3+ ions. Unlike this, for ZnGa2O4:Eu nanoparticles, very poor energy transfer between the host and Eu3+ ions is observed. These nanoparticles when coated with ligands like oleic acid results in their improved dispersion in organic solvents like chloroform and dichloromethane.
