AbstractSupported polyoxide catalysts on the base of Mo and W, as well as natural Kazakhstan's clays were tested in the process of oxidative conversion of propane and propane-butane mixture. The influence of reaction temperature, contact time, composition and percentage of the active component of catalyst were determined. The important petrochemical products - acetone (500-550°) and acetaldehyde (300-350°) were the main liquid products of reaction on natural Kazakhstan's clays and also on clays modified by Mo, Bi, Cr and Ga ions.

Introduction Volatiles are easily accessible and widely used in a form of liquid petroleum gas. Death as a consequence of inhalation of volatiles can be either accidental or suicidal. Case Outline We present a 62-year-old men who committed suicide by placing a plastic bag over the head and inhaling propane-butane mixture from a domestic gas tank. A rubber hose was attached to the tank valve and connected with the plastic bag. The body of the deceased showed signs of advanced postmortal changes. A suicidal note was found at the scene. Conclusion Propane-butane mixture, i.e. liquified petroleum gas leads to the depletion of oxygen in the air consequently causing hypoxia and anoxia, and therefore, unconsciousness and eventual death. The mechanisms of death in cases of volatile inhalation include cardiac arrhythmias, reflex cardiac vagal inhibition, and/or central nervous system depression. Similar mechanisms occur in cases of asphyxiation with a plastic bag. The reconstruction of the event in this case was based, not so much on autopsy findings (because of significant putrefaction changes), but on the police investigation and traces found at the scene. .

The liquefaction of corncob in polyhydric alcohols was investigated by using sulfuric acid as a catalyst. Results showed that the best liquefaction could be obtained with residue percent of 4.5% under the conditions with the corncob/polyhydric alcohols mass ratio of 1/5, reaction temperature of 150°C, reaction time of 60 min, catalyst amount of 3% (based on the weight of corncob), PEG 400/glycerin mass ratio of 7/3 in the polyhydric alcohols, respectively. The liquefied liquid products had acid number of 18.9 mg KOH/g and hydroxyl number of 616.3mg KOH/g, respectively.

The paper presents the data on activity of the deposited catalyst based on vanadium. The developed catalyst allows conducting the process of oxidative conversion of propane into ethylene and hydrogen using CO2 as an oxidant. The study of the activity of the developed vanadium catalyst at the oxidative conversion of propane showed that the maximum ethylene yield was 24.5% at: C3H8:CO2=2:1, T=700°C and W=1000 h-1. The increase of temperature to 800°C resulted in the in formation of 27.5% hydrogen. By methods of BET and XRD the developed catalyst 5% V/Al2O3, is differed by increase of specific surface area and bonding of the carrier with active phase, contributing to increase of efficiency of the developed catalyst in the oxidative conversion of propane to ethylene and hydrogen.

The threat of people as a result of delivery vehicle fire handling 11 kg and 33 kg bottles with propane-butane, due to leakage of these bottles was estimated. The probability of unsealing LPG bottles with gas during the year at loading, unloading and transport operations in carrier trade company was determined. Partial and total risk of serious driver injuries and the risk of death in the event of a fire in open load-carrying body of the car and tire damage was estimated. The risk assessment uses the methods of the event and fault tree as well as the probabilistic method.

The method of unloading and reloading solidified oil fuels, with the use of pipelines made according to temporary technological schemes, produced in winter, is considered. Cooling of solidified fuels is accompanied by a sharp increase in their viscosity, which makes pipeline transmission impossible. In fire hazard, it is proposed to produce continuous heating of the pumped fuel using devices based on low-temperature combustion of propane-butane mixture on the surface of the catalyst carried out at fire-safe temperatures. It is also proposed to install a temporary heat-insulating shell on the pipeline that meets the operating modes of the heaters.
