ABSTRACTThe J-U relation of the KTP crystal along its z-axis under low DC field deviates from linearity, which is different from that of the crystal along the other two principle axis. The resistance of the crystal along its z-axis increases with the time under high DC stress and the crystal becomes dark. The dark color can be removed by annealing. Electrode reactions were also observed. The phenomena are related to the easy movement of ions along the z-axis of the KTP crystal.

For identification of varieties, it is desirable to use genetically predetermined traits that are decisive for the varietal identification of the distinguishing characteristics of the varieties production and new genotypes for selection. The presence a complete evaluation of the selection samples a particular crop is the basis for the formation of informative databases characteristics the varieties of standards used in plant examination to determine the level of expression a characteristic particular genotype according to the code of their manifestation. For the 20 traits we used to identify, we identified 6 least volatile, highly trait-stable traits over the years of study to identify. These are: “coloring of the pubescence of the main stem”, “the size of the lateral leaf”, “the intensity of green leaf color”, “flower color”, “the intensity of brown bean color”, “basic color of the seed coat”. The other 14 traits are highly variable and unstable among varieties, but may be significant under certain conditions. According to the results of the research we have determined the conformity of the collection varieties by code graduation. In the study, we selected varieties with corresponding codes of attributes of the reference varieties the UPOV technique. On the basic of the color the pubescence of the main stem, 36% varieties are with grey stem pubescence. Among the standards: Apache, Alaric, Talon according to the grey color of the pubescence, we identified varieties Zolotysta, Ozzie, Diona. The 2947 564/84, Stepnaya-90, Knyazhna. The lateral leaf size is a sign that affects the increase in green mass of plants and subsequently on productivity. Graduation of the sign small size of leaf had varieties: Zuma, Ksenya; middle – Heinong 37, Yuh-30; large – 2947 564/84, Vinni, DSS 2504. The following is a sign of the intensity of leaf plate, which is divided by gradation into light, moderate and dark. Among our samples with a light degree of color, we can distinguish Diona, Sribna Ruta, and Zuma. For varieties with moderate gradation of color are selected: Perlyna, 93/99, Knyazhna. To the dark color of the leaf plate we attributed the varieties: Stepnaya-90, Ozzie. Among the varieties we studied of the basics of flower color 37% varieties are with a white flower, and 63% with a purple. According to the varieties of standards: Chandor, Cresir, Toreador to the white color of the flower we attributed varieties Knyazhna, Ozzie, Zolotysta. With the purple color of the flower we have selected varieties: 93/99, Zhemchuzhna, Heinong 37. On the basis of the intensity of brown color bean, which characterizes the generative organs of the plant, is divided into weak, moderate and strong, but the other identifiers there are gradations: sandy, gray, light brown, brown and dark brown, so we decided what would be better identify by color gradation. To the sandy color of the beans we attributed varieties Perlyna, Yuh-30; gray – Sribna Ruta; light brown – Kobza, Knyazhna; brown – Ksenya; dark brown – Zhemchuzhna, Vinni. Important features that identify the description of varieties include basic color of the seed coat, which affects the taste of the seeds. In particular, the seeds are divided by color into yellow – Kobza, Yuh-30; yellow-green – Vinni, Luch Nadezhdy; green – Heorhina; light brown – 2947 564/84, brown – DSS 2504; dark brown – 2974 YS-24 and black color – not detected. Following the results of the previous collection of soybean varieties from the morphological sings of vegetative, generative organs of plants, it was possible to identify varieties with stable manifestation of standard identifying sings of soybean. Collection varieties with one standard characteristics: Heinong 37, Luch Nadezhdy, DSS 2504, 2974 YS-24; two signs: Zolotysta, Diona, Stepnaya-90, Zuma, Ksenya, Heorhina, Sribna Ruta, Perlyna, 93/99, Zhemchuzhna; three signs: Ozzie, 2947 564/84, Yuh-30, Vinni, Knyazhna.

The structures of three nitro-substituted phenothiazines [1,3,4-trifluoro-2-nitrophenothiazine, 10-(4-chlorobutyl)-1,3,4-trifluoro-2-nitrophenothiazine and 10-(4-chlorobutyl)-3-nitrophenothiazine] have been determined. The first of these red compounds forms infinite stacks in the solid state, in which donor and acceptor regions of the approximately planar molecules alternate. The molecules of the other two compounds, which have folded, or `butterfly', conformations in the solid state, do not form stacks, presumably because the bulky chlorobutyl substituents cannot be accommodated. The very dark color of solid 3-nitrophenothiazine suggests the presence of extended molecular stacks, but crystals suitable for a structure determination could not be obtained.

Penelitian bertujuan menguji komponen kualitas dari beberapa klon kentang hasil seleksi untuk keripik. Penelitian dilakukan mulai bulan Juli sampai dengan September 2010 menggunakan metode eksperimen di laboratorium. Rancangan yang digunakan ialah acak kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji terdiri atas 10 klon kentang yaitu (1) 385524.9 x 392639.34, (2) 393077.54 x 391011.17, (3) 393077.54 x 391011.17, (4) 391011.17 x 391580.30, (5) 391011.17 x 385524.9, (6) 393077.54 x 391011.17, (7) 391011.17 x 385524.9, (8) 391011.17 x 385524.9, (9) 393033.54 x 391580.30, dan (10) Granola (kontrol). Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan bahwa keripik kentang yang memiliki skor antara 2,00-2,36 (kuning merata) untuk chips kentang ialah klon 7 (391011.17 x 385524.9) dan klon 8 (391011.17 x 385524.9). Kandungan gula reduksi dari kedua klon tersebut,  yaitu masing-masing 0,029 dan 0,023% lebih rendah daripada kandungan gula reduksi pada klon-klon lainnya yang keripiknya berwarna gelap. Klon-klon tersebut memenuhi persyaratan kualitas dan berpeluang untuk digunakan sebagai bahan baku industri pengolahan keripik kentang. <br /><br /><br />The objective of the research was to determine the quality of potato clones resulted from selection for potato chips. Quality test of 10 selective clones was determined. The research was conducted from July to September 2010, and was arranged in a completely randomized block design with three replications. Treatments consisted of (1) 385524.9 x 392639.34, (2) 393077.54 x 391011.17, (3) 393077.54 x 391011.17, (4) 391011.17 x 391580.30, (5) 391011.17 x 385524.9, (6) 393077.54 x 391011.17, (7) 391011.17 x 385524.9, (8) 391011.17 x 385524.9, (9) 393033.54 x 391580.30, and (10) Granola (control).  The results showed that chips which had a score value between 2.00 to 2.36 (yellow uniform) for potato chips were clone 7 (391011.17 x 385524.9) and clone 8 (391011.17 x 385524.9). The reducted sugar content of these clones was lower (0.029 and 0.023% respectively) than the reducted sugar content of the other potato clones which had dark color. The potato clones had good quality and fulfilled conditions for potato chips processing.

The aim of this study was to investigate effects of natural weathering on color stability of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestrisL.) and Oriental beech (Fagus orientalisL.) impregnated with some chemicals [tanalith-E (TN-E), adolit-KD5 (AD-KD5), and chromated copper arsenate (CCA)] and then varnished [synthetic varnish (SV) and polyurethane varnish (PV)]. While applying varnish increased lightness, impregnation decreased lightness of the wood specimens before natural weathering. Natural weathering caused greenish, bluish, and dark color tones of the wood surface. Total color change was increased with increasing exposure times in natural weathering. Untreated (control) wood specimens exhibited higher color changes than the other wood specimens in all the stages of natural weathering. The total color changes of untreated Oriental beech specimens were less than untreated Scots pine specimens. The color stability of impregnated and varnished wood specimens gave better results than untreated and solely varnished wood specimens after natural weathering. The best color stability was obtained from both Oriental beech and Scots pine wood impregnated with TN-E before PV coating.

This paper presents the results of an experimental study of the optical properties of highly resistive monocrystals of potassium titanyl phosphate (KTiOPO4, KTP) in the frequency range of 0.2–1 THz and the temperature range of (−192)–150 °C. The dispersion of the refractive indices is approximated in the form of Sellmeier equations. The results show that the temperature dependence of the Sellmeier coefficients for all three principal optical axes is close to linear and, most likely, does not experience an extremum in the vicinity of the activation temperatures of the cationic conductivity of the KTP crystal at (−73)–(−23) °C. Weak frequency dependence of an optical axis direction angle VZ in the range of 0.2–1 THz is confirmed. However, the change in VZ with temperature is three times higher than reported before.

An attempt to analyze the oeuvre of Indian-Portuguese artist Francis Newton Souza is made in this paper, adopting postcolonial theory, especially the concept of ‘hybridity’. Souza creates his special imagery, existing on the border of Indian and European cultures. Re-writing works by well-known European artists, reconsidering compositions by Titian, Picasso as well as some of his contemporaries (Francis Bacon), Souza implicates new traits, designed to discover figure of the Other. Dark color palette, monstrous forms and faces, aggressive sensuality – all these characterize those works by Souza, emerged from the clash of Indian culture and European, on Indian culture, at the same, time reminds repeatedly emerging in Souza’s oeuvre feminine images, referring to images of apsaras, Indian celestial musicians, or yakshinis, ancient nature spirits of forests.

Abstract Fe-Ppy was synthesized by in situ polymerization with varying the concentration of oxidizing agent (FeCl,3) and green tea extract. As prepared polymer samples have been characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM and TEM. DC conductivity was measured in the temperature range 303-378 K. Obtained results reveals that, the conductivity slightly increases with increase in temperature. Fe (0.31M)-Ppy-10ml green tea extracted sample exhibited highest conductivity as compared to the other composites. Activation energy found to increases up to Fe-(0.92M)-Ppy 30ml sample and it was maximum for Fe (1.54M)-Ppy 50ml sample.

AbstractBackground:Dysphagia is a relatively common symptom following laryngectomy. An anterior pharyngeal diverticulum is a rare cause of post-laryngectomy dysphagia. However, it is often an incidental finding on rigid telescopic examination.Methods and results:This article describes two patients with a symptomatic anterior pharyngeal diverticulum. They were treated by transoral micro-endoscopic potassium titanyl phosphate 532 nm laser assisted resection. Both patients could take feeds orally after the procedure without any difficulty. One patient died one and a half years after the procedure because of secondary lung cancer. The other patient died after three years as a result of regional recurrence. The patients were able to swallow during their survival period post treatment.Conclusion:Laser-assisted micro-endoscopic resection is a relatively safe, quick and effective procedure for the management of anterior pharyngeal diverticulum.

     In this study, the effect of increasing pump pulse energy and delay time on the energy conversion efficiency of the Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTP) crystal at room temperature was investigated. It was found that the higher the pump pulse the greater the efficiency at a certain value of the delay time. Moreover, at the delay time 3.524ns, we found that the efficiency of the conversion of energy increases from 0.0112 to 0.0159. We  also observed that the lower delay time between the pump and the probe pulses leads to increase the rate of energy conversion efficiency of the KTP crystal, where the reaches up to 3, which is higher than the value recorded in the absence of a pump pulse. The highest value of the rate of energy conversion efficiency recorded in this study was 0.0159. This work was achieved at room temperature.
