Undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclastic giant cells is a distinctive rare neoplasm involving pancreas and rarely bile ducts. This neoplasm shows characteristic histologic features with variable admixture of mononuclear histiocytic cells, non- neoplastic osteoclastic giant cells and neoplastic mononuclear cell component. Though, this tumor has been shown to share genetic alterations with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, clinically, it behaves unpredictably with a substantial proportion of patient showing prolonged survival period. We present a case of this rare pancreatic tumour with brief literature review discussing the key pathologic features, immunophenotype, genetic profile and clinical behavior. Undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclastic giant cells is a rare neoplasm in pancreas which is believed to be of epithelial origin and shares genetic aberrations with ductal adenocarcinoma. Despite this, these tumours have better prognosis with prolonged survival period.

Background: Visha (Poison) is a substance, which after entering the body, disturbs natural and physiological functions of body (i.e. Dosha, Dhatu, Mala). Due to its potency, it may potentially cause death in a relatively short period. A significant proportion of Indians live in villages distant from the city and work in agriculture with their lower extremities exposed. Snake-rat habitat is more prevalent in rice and sugarcane fields. Aims and Objective: To study the efficacy of Sanjeevani Vati in common cobra venom poisoning and Russell’s viper venom as a first aid measure. Materials and Methods: The preparation of Sanjeevani Vatiis carried out in Department of Rasashastra, Govt. Ayurved College, Nagpur and venom was collected from snake farm’, Haffkine Institute for Training Research and Testing, Mumbai. Animal Experiment for efficacy of Sanjeevani Vati as a first aid measure on Common cobra venom and Russell’s viper venom was carried out in National Toxicology Center (NTC) Pune. Results: The results of survival period in Russell’s viper venom group were proved to be statistically significant. P value is 0.0055(Unpaired t-test; Two tail). But in results of Common Cobra venom, it was observed that there is no delay in appearance of paralysis, convulsion & survival period. In fact all these symptoms appear near about at same time, when Sanjeevani Vati was given orally after ingestion of Cobra Venom. Conclusion: Sanjeevani Vati property is an ophidian. If you have Russell's viper venom, it is helpful as a first aid measure since it extends its life time. Poly Valent Anti snake venom serum does not interact with it (PVASVS).

Abstract BACKGROUND Maintenance of functioning and wellbeing during the progression-free survival (PFS) period is important for glioma patients. This study aimed to determine whether health-related quality of life (HRQoL) can be maintained during progression-free time, and factors associated with HRQoL deterioration in this period. MATERIAL AND METHODS We included longitudinal HRQoL data from previously published clinical trials in glioma. The percentage of patients with stable HRQoL until progression was determined per scale and at the individual patient level (i.e. considering all scales simultaneously). We assessed time to a clinically relevant deterioration in HRQoL, expressed in deterioration-free survival and time-to-deterioration (the first including progression as an event). We also determined the association between sociodemographic and clinical factors and HRQoL deterioration in the progression-free period. RESULTS 5539 patients with at least baseline HRQoL scores had a median time from randomization to progression of 7.6 months. Between 9%-29% of the patients deteriorated before disease progression on the evaluated HRQoL scales. When considering all scales simultaneously, 47% of patients deteriorated on ≥1 scale. Median deterioration-free survival period ranged between 3.8–5.4 months, and median time-to-deterioration between 8.2–11.9 months. For most scales, only poor performance status was independently associated with clinically relevant HRQoL deterioration in the progression-free period. CONCLUSION HRQoL was maintained in only 53% of patients in their progression-free period, and treatment was not independently associated with this deterioration in HRQoL. Routine monitoring of the patients’ functioning and well-being during the entire disease course is therefore important, so that interventions can be initiated when problems are signalled.

Abstract Background/purpose of the study Tumor heterogeneity based on copy number variations is associated with the evolution of cancer and its clinical grade. Clonal composition (CC) represents the number of clones based on the distribution of B-allele frequency (BAF) obtained from a genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array. A higher CC number represents a high degree of heterogeneity. We hypothesized and evaluated that the CC number in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues might be associated with the clinical outcomes of patients. Methods Somatic mutation, whole transcriptome, and copy number variations of 36 frozen tissue samples of operably resected HCC tissues by targeted deepsequencing, RNAseq and SNP array. Results The samples were classified the heterogeneous tumors as poly-CC (n = 26) and the homogeneous tumors as mono-CC (n = 8). The patients with poly-CC had a higher rate of early recurrence and a significantly shorter recurrence-free survival period than the mono-CC patients (7.0 vs. not reached, p = 0.0084). No differences in pathogenic non-synonymous mutations, such as TP53, were observed between the two groups when targeted deep sequencing was applied. A transcriptome analysis showed that cell cycle-related pathways were enriched in the poly-CC tumors, compared with the mono-CC tumors. poly-CC HCC is highly proliferative and has a high risk of early recurrence. Conclusion CC is a candidate biomarker for predicting the risk of early postoperative recurrence and warrants further investigation.

Brazil is the world's largest producer of passion fruit, however, the crop suffers from serious phytosanitary problems, as well as those caused by soil fungi. Thus, the objective of the present work was to estimate the genetic parameters and to select genotypes resistant to Fusarium solani species complex—FSSC in a segregating population from the first generation of backcross among P. edulis and interspecific hybrids, aiming at advancing generation in the genetic improvement program of passion fruit. The Interspecific Hybrid was used (IH) UNEMAT 142 resistant to colon rot, for generation advancement and to cultivate BRS Sol do Cerrado (Passiflora edulis Sims). In order to evaluate the resistance of the 27 genotypes of the first generation of backcrosses, inoculation with the FSUNEMAT 40 (F. solani) inoculum was performed. To estimate the components of variances, the method of maximum restricted likelihood (REML) was used and to select the best genotypes by the non-addicted linear prediction (BLUP). The variables that showed the highest heritability values were the survival period and the area under the lesion length expansion curve. The three families of backcrosses presented genotypes resistant to the fungus F. solani, however, by the methodology of mixed models REML/BLUP, only the genotypes BC1-22/1, BC1-22/2, BC1-22/3, BC1-22/4, BC1-22/6, BC1-22/7, BC1-113/3, BC1-113/7 and BC1-113/8, were selected to advance the generation of the UNEMAT passion fruit breeding program, therefore, they presented among the ten placed, mainly for the variable survival period (SP).
