This study aimed to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking abilities through the application of edmodo's assisted discovery learning model. The study was conducted on students of class XI MIPA 2 high school 2018/2019. This study used a true experimental design in the form of a pre-test and post-test control group design. Sampling was done by a cluster random sampling technique. Data collection used reasoned multiple choice test instruments and questionnaires. The result of test analysis of students' critical thinking skills showed that the average post-test value of the experimental class was lower than the control class. The N-gain test result showed that the magnitude of the increasing of the experimental class was 0.43 lower than the control class which is equal to 0.57. The application of edmodo assisted discovery learning model had a positive effect on students' critical thinking abilities with a low category as indicated by the correlation coefficient of 0.37 and the magnitude of the influence given is 14.08%. The conclusion of this study is the application of edmodo assisted discovery learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills. Furthermore, students agree to use edmodo's assisted discovery learning model for acid base learning.

The learning process only focuses on the material by memorizing concepts, students do not use LKPD to do practical work optimally, so the biology learning process in schools does not encourage students to practice critical thinking skills. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills by using the PBL learning model combined with STEM-based worksheets on environmental pollution conceptin class 10th SMA Negeri Bireuen district. The approach used is experimental design, the method used is quasi-experimental, with a pretest-posttest design non-equivalent control group design. Population in class 10th IPA SMAN 1 and SMAN 2 Peusangan designed 252 people. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. The research sample was 140 students. The number of samples in the experimental class was 71 people and 69 people in the control class. The instrument used was a reasoned multiple choice question accompanied by a rubric. The data analysis used was n-gain and independent t-test. The results showed that the critical thinking skills obtained was 0.93, with an increase in class critical thinking skills including the high category. The results of the independent sample t-test obtained Sig. (0,000) α (0.05) then Ha is accepted, so it is suggested that there are differences in the critical thinking skills of students between the experimental class and the control class on environmental pollution material in class X SMAN Bireuen. The implementation of PBL learning model combined with STEM-based LKPD can improve students' critical thinking skills on environmental pollution material in class 10th SMA Negeri Bireuen Regency.

This study aimed to describe the effect of problem-based learning on students' critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. This research is a quasi-experimental study with pre-test-post test control group design. Sampling was done by saturated sampling technique in which the experimental class consisted of 35 students and the control class was 34 students. Data on critical thinking skills and student scientific literacy were collected using test instruments which were then analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results showed that the Problem-based Learning model had more effect on students’ critical thinking and scientific literacy (p <0.05) than conventional learning models applied to the control class. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Problem-based Learning model significantly effect on students’ critical thinking and science literacy in class XI MAN 1 Mataram.

The learning process at SMAN 1 Kluet Utara and SMAN 1 Kluet Selatan, does not appear to have developed critical thinking skills of students, this is because learning does not provide opportunities for students to identify problems and conclude new ideas or a observational act. The process of learning biology in schools does not encourage students to think critically. The research objective was to analyze the improvement of critical thinking skills by using the discovery learning model combined with constructivism-based modulesin on the excretory system concept. The method used was a quasi-experimental, pretest posttest design non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were 156 students of class 11th MIPA who came from two schools, while the sample was 104 taken by purposive sampling.The instrument used was a reasoned multiple choice question accompanied by a rubric. The data analysis used was n-gain and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the critical thinking skills obtained was 0.78, with an increase in class critical thinking skills including the high category. This shows that there are differences in the critical thinking skills of students between the experimental class and the control class on excretory system concept in class 11thSMAN 1 Kluet Utara and SMAN 1 Kluet Selatan. Thus, the implementation of discovery learning model combined with constructivism-based modulescan improve students' critical thinking skills on excretory system concept.

The broad scope of biology and the many sources of biology reading requires eleven grade students to think critically about sorting out information to develop and support students' critical thinking skills. CirGi is an integration of the cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) learning model and guided inquiry (GI) that emphasizes reading and writing activities, accompanied by guidance from the teacher. This study aimed to analyze the influence of CirGi's learning model on students' critical thinking skills. This research uses a quasi-experiment method with pre-post control group design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, namely 104 high school students. Data collection was carried out using instruments of critical thinking skills in the form of essays, questionnaire responses of students to learning, and observation sheets of syntax implementation. The data analysis technique used was one-way ANCOVA. After controlling for the pretest scores, the CirGi learning model's influence on students' critical thinking skills was influenced. This learning model was appropriate for learning biology, so it can regrow the activities of reading science books that impact students' critical thinking skills.

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of the inquiry type CTL learning model on critical thinking skills. The population in this study were eighth grade students of MTs. Al-Asy’ariyah Bandar Lampung Year 2015/2016. The research method used in this study is Quasi Experimental Design. The research design used in this quasi-experimental was the pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique is random sampling. The sample in this study consisted of two classes namely the experimental class and the control class. Data collection techniques in the form of tests to measure students' critical thinking skills and observations to observe behaviors that arise in students according to indicators of critical thinking skills. The results of hypothesis testing obtained thitung = 5.78, while ttabel at a significance level of 5% by 2.00, it can be said that thitung > ttabel. This shows that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of the inquiry type CTL learning model on students' critical thinking abilities.

This study aims to describe the differences in students’ critical thinking skill between class which use discovery learning and conventional learning in electromagnetic wave material. The research method used was a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design which was conducted in MAS 01 Darussalam Kepahiang. In non-equivalent control group design, the sample (was) not taken randomly but by purposive sampling technique. The research sample taken by the researcher consists of two classes,  (i.e.) the class XII A2 as an experimental class and the class XII A3 as a control class. Both classes were given a pretest to find out the students’ fundamental critical thinking skills and a posttest to find out the students' final critical thinking skills. This research was conducted in two meetings according to subchapters on electromagnetic wave material. Discovery learning model was applied in the experimental class with the steps of learning are stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization. The average value of critical thinking of the experimental class student was 65.7 and (the) control class was 48.12 with a value of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 sig. α = 0.05. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in students’ ' critical thinking skills using the discovery learning model with the critical thinking skills of students using conventional learning.

The hoax informations that spread through social media had a negative impact on society. Therefore, research had been conducted in Gedongtataan Upper Secondary School No.1  to describe the effectiveness of problem-based learning model on hoax informations in improving students' critical thinking skills. This study was used the matching only pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study was the 11th grade of IPA 4 (experimental class) and the 11th grade of IPA 5 (control class) which was obtained by using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the average n-gain in the experimental and control classes was 0.7 and 0.6, respectively. Based on this, it could be concluded that the problem based learning model on the hoax informations was effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. Keywords: critical thinking skills, hoax informations, problem-based learning.

Mathematical Critical thinking is one of  mathematical abilities that must be obtained by students. Critical thinking is one of the high order thinking processes that can make concepts in student knowledge.  Students with critical thinking in mathematics learning mostly do rational activities such as interpreting information based on a particular theoretical framework, linking theory with practice, making claims and justifying it, utilizing data in support of argumentation, making relations or relationships between various ideas, asking questions, evaluating knowledge, predict, describe something, analyze, synthesize, and categorize. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Concept-Based Learning Model on the critical thingking mathematical abilities.The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Concept-Based Learning Model toward mathematics critical thinking ability. The method used in this research is quasi experiment by Randomize Control Group Post Test Only Design with cluster random sampling technique. Indicators of mathematics critical thinking skills measured in this study include providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, making more explanations, and deciding an action. The results showed that the mathematics critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class for the five indicators that being analyze was higher than the ability of students in the control class. A fairly high difference in the indicator showed in give a simple explanation and concluding. and it means that the application of Concept-Based Learning Model significantly influences the  abilities  of students' mathematics critical thinking.

The STAD cooperative learning model can support active, independent and responsible learning for students. The application of this model is expected to improve students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills using Edmodo-assisted learning models. Edmodo was modified to become a teacher tool to expand learning at home. This research is an experimental study using a pretest-posttest control group design involving 39 students of class VIII MTs At-Taqwa Beru, Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara. Based on the results of the study it was found that the Edmodo-assisted STAD type cooperative learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Based on observations when apprenticed at SMAN 7 Pontianak it was known that students' critical thinking skills are still low. Therefore, a variety of learning models are needed to improve students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this research was to determine the differences and effective learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills between students taught using the project-based learning model and the problem based learning model. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The data collection techniques used were measurement. The results showed a significant value of the T-test was 0.000<0.05. This means that there are differences in students' critical thinking skills taught using the project-based learning model and problem-based learning. The average value of N-Gain in the project-based learning model was 0.69 (moderate) while the problem-based learning model was 0.58 (moderate), so the project-based learning model is more effective than the problem based learning model on students' critical thinking skills.Keywords: Critical thinking skills, problem-based learning, project-based learning, cell material
