Ball auto-balancing devices can to compensate changes of unbalance "on the move" only for rotors operating at supercritical speeds. For automatic balancing of such rotors, classified as flexible rotors, several auto-balancers located in different cross sections of the shaft are necessary. This makes it necessary to account bending fluctuations on studies of dynamics of the rotor with auto-balancers, that is especially important in the design of the real rotors. In view of the complexity of experimental studies of such rotors in the article the method of direct numerical simulation of the dynamics of the flexible rotor system – supports – auto-balances is considered. The methodological basis of this method is the use of a discrete multi-mass rotor model, which is equivalent in dynamic characteristics to a real rotor, and also the equations of dynamics of the system discrete rotor – supports – auto-balancers, obtained in the direct form of recording. For definition of discrete masses and a matrix of coefficients of influence of stiffness of rotor cross-sections it is supposed to use calculations for finite-element model of a real rotor by existing software complexes of the engineering analysis. The mathematical model of the system dynamics obtained by the Lagrange method takes into account the non-stationarity of the rotor rotation speed, the influence of gravity and the rolling friction of the balls in the auto-balancer cages. Verification of the mathematical model was performed by reproducing the published data using a computational model for a two-support single-disk three-mass rotor with a two-ball auto-balancer. For a four-mass rotor with two two-ball auto-balancers, the results of numerical simulation of dynamics for the modes of acceleration, steady-state rotation and deceleration are presented. It is shown that for the system under consideration, only partial auto-balancing takes place in the steady rotation mode, including after a stepwise increase of the imbalance.

Numerical simulation of the secondary cooling is applied to the design of continuous casting. The mathematical model for solidification process of the strand under air-mist was established and calculated with the finite element model. The model is used to calculate the feasible operating range of the continuous casting machines. The dynamic secondary cooling system has been analyzed with consideration of the thermo mechanical principles and numerical model. The adequacy of the model has been confirmed with experimental results.

The article deals with the development of a physical model of a car equipped with measuring, recording and remote control equipment for experimental study of car properties. A detailed description of the design of the physical model and of the electronic modules used is given, links to application libraries and the code of the first part of the program for remote control of the model are given. Atmega microcontroller on the Arduino Uno platform was used to manage the model and register the parameters. When moving the car on the memory card saved such parameters as speed, voltage on the motor, current on the motor, the angle of the steered wheel, acceleration along three coordinate axes are recorded. Use of more powerful microcontrollers will allow to expand the list of the registered parameters of movement of the car. It is possible to measure the forces acting on the elements of the car and other parameters. In the future, it is planned to develop a mathematical model of motion of the car and check its adequacy in conducting experimental studies on maneuverability on the physical model. In addition, it is possible to conduct studies of stability and consumption of electrical energy. The physical model allows to quickly change geometric dimensions and mass parameters. In the study of highway trains, this approach will allow to investigate the various layout schemes of highway trains in the short term. It is possible to make two-axle road trains and saddle towed trains, three-way hitched trains of different layout. The results obtained will allow us to improve not only the mathematical model, but also the experimental physical model, and move on to further study the properties of hybrid road trains with an active trailer link. This approach allows to reduce material and time costs when researching the properties of cars and road trains. In this study, we analyzed the endemic equilibrium point of a malaria-hygiene mathematical model. We prove that the mathematical model is biological and meaningfully well-posed. We also compute the basic reproduction number using the next generation method. Stability analysis of the endemic equilibrium point show that the point is locally stable if reproduction number is greater that unity and globally stable by the Lasalle’s invariant principle. Numerical simulation to show the dynamics of the compartment at various hygiene rate was carried out.

The sheave installation method (SIM) is an effective and non-conventional method to solve the installation of subsea equipment in deep water (>1000m), which has been developed to deploy the 175t Roncador Manifold I into 1,885 meters water depth in 2002. With the weight increment of subsea cluster manifold, how to solve its installation with the high reliability in the deep sea is still a great challenge. In this paper, the installation of the 300t subsea cluster manifold using the SIM is studied in the two-dimensional coordinate system. The mathematical model is established and the lumped mass method is used to calculate the hydrodynamic forces of the wireropes. Taking into account the complex environment loads, the numerical simulation of the lowering process is carried out by OrcaFlex. The displacement and vibration of the subsea cluster manifold in the z-axis direction and the effective tension at the top of the wireropes can be gotten, which can provide guidance for the installation of the cluster manifold in the South China Sea.

Mathematical modeling utilized to simplify real phenomena that occur in everyday life. Mathematical modeling is popular to modeling the case of the spread of disease in an area, the growth of living things, and social behavior in everyday life and so on. This type of research is included in the study of theoretical and applied mathematics. The research steps carried out include 1) constructing a mathematical model type SEIRS, 2) analysis on the SEIRS type mathematical model by using parameter values for conditions 1and , 3) Numerical simulation to see the behavior of the population in the model, and 4) to conclude the results of the numerical simulation of the SEIRS type mathematical model. The simulation results show that the model stabilized in disease free quilibrium for the condition  and stabilized in endemic equilibrium for the condition .

Purpose A saturated iron core superconducting fault current limiter (SISFCL) has an important role to play in the present-day power system, providing effective protection against electrical faults and thus ensuring an uninterrupted supply of electricity to the consumers. Previous mathematical models developed to describe the SISFCL use a simple flux density-magnetic field intensity curve representing the ferromagnetic core. As the magnetic state of the core affects the efficient working of the device, this paper aims to present a novel approach in the mathematical modeling of the device with the inclusion of hysteresis. Design/methodology/approach The Jiles–Atherton’s hysteresis model is utilized to develop the mathematical model of the limiter. The model is numerically solved using MATLAB. To support the validity of model, finite element model (FEM) with similar specifications was simulated. Findings Response of the limiter based on the developed mathematical model is in close agreement with the FEM simulations. To illustrate the effect of the hysteresis, the responses are compared by using three different hysteresis characteristics. Harmonic analysis is performed and comparison is carried out utilizing fast Fourier transform and continuous wavelet transform. It is observed that the core with narrower hysteresis characteristic not only produces a better current suppression but also creates a higher voltage drop across the DC source. It also injects more harmonics in the system under fault condition. Originality/value Inclusion of hysteresis in the mathematical model presents a more realistic approach in the transient analysis of the device. The paper provides an essential insight into the effect of the core hysteresis characteristic on the device performance.

Mechanical resonance is one of the most pervasive problems in servo control. Closed-loop simulations are requisite when the servo control system with high accuracy is designed. The mathematical model of resonance mode must be considered when the closed-loop simulations of servo systems are done. There will be a big difference between the simulation results and the real actualities of servo systems when the resonance mode is not considered in simulations. Firstly, the mathematical model of resonance mode is introduced in this paper. This model can be perceived as a product of a differentiation element and an oscillating element. Secondly, the second-order differentiation element is proposed to simulate the resonant part and the oscillating element is proposed to simulate the antiresonant part. Thirdly, the simulation approach for two resonance modes in servo systems is proposed. Similarly, this approach can be extended to the simulation of three or even more resonances in servo systems. Finally, two numerical simulation examples are given.

The wear of the spark plug electrode and the value of spark discharge were determined for various impurities and configurations of the air-fuel mixture.

Current work covers experimental and theoretical investigation of conic confusers impact on the intensity shock wave, generated in the shock tube by explosion of gunpowder charge. For given conditions optimal geometric characteristics of the confuser, providing maximal pressure in the shock wave front, were found experimentally. The mathematical model was developed and numerical simulation of the axisymmetric shock-wave gas flow in the channel was carried out. Experimentally was shown, that the application of the optimal confuser provides significant increase of the efficiency gasdynamic effect on the combustion of forest combustible materials.
