The study investigated the Phaeophyceae during the year 2019 at sixteen sampling sites representative for Cham islands. Specimens were collected by scuba diving, snorkelling and walking at the upper tidal zone in both dry and rainy seasons. Twenty-five species of the Phaeophyceae identified for Cham islands from four orders, four families and eleven genera. The Sargassaceae family is the most abundant species composition, followed by Dictyotaceae, Scytosiphonaceae and Asteronemataceae family. In the six islands surveyed, Hon Lao has the highest diversity with 19 species recorded; Hon Dai, Hon Tai, Hon Kho and Hon Mo island recorded from 10 to 14 species, and the lowest diversity is at the Hon La island with 8 species. Ten species Canistrocarpus cervicornis, Dictyota spinulosa, Lobophora obscura, Lobophora variegata, Pandina minor, Sargassum bicorne, Sargassum herklotsii, Sargassum parvifolium, Turbinaria conoides, Asteronema breviarticulatum reported as new records for the marine flora of Cham islands.

Sarcophagidae is a family of Diptera with medical-veterinary importance, which have species with sarcosaprophagous, necrophagous or causing-myiasis larvae, among others. The Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro has 92 municipalities, but only 26 have sarcophagid records and the municipality of Rio das Ostras is one of the least registered, with only nine species recorded. This works aimed to increase the knowledge of flesh fly diversity in a conservation unit of this municipality, the “Área de Relevante Interesse Ecológico de Itapebussus”. The study was conducted in restinga and semideciduous forest. We used modified Van Someren-Rydon traps baited with decayed fish, and the samples were taken in dry and rainy seasons. A total of 446 male sarcophagines of 18 species of the genera Oxysarcodexia, Peckia, Ravinia, Sarcofahrtiopsis, and Titanogrypa were collected. We found 13 new records for the sampled municipality. The forest presented higher richness than the restinga and the most abundant species was Oxysarcodexia amorosa (Schiner). Diversity and equitability showed similar values in the two areas (H'f=2.193, H'r=2.027, J'f=0.7908 and J'r=0.7682) and the cluster analysis suggest high similarity. PERMANOVA did not present significant results for any source of variation. The presence of synanthropic and asynanthropic species in the fragment demonstrates that it is already a somewhat human-impacted environment. Marked increase in the number of sarcophagid records obtained in this small sample in the studied municipality (from nine to 22 species) shows the importance of taxonomic surveys in poorly studied areas.

Español.  Se dan a conocer nuevas localizaciones y datos corológicos para 98 especies (61 Rhodophyta, 22 Ochrophyta, 15 Chlorophyta) de algas bentónicas marinas recolectadas en el intermareal y submareal de más de 80 localidades de las costas atlánticas y cantábricas de la Península Ibérica. Polysiphonia devoniensis, P. fibrata y Zonaria tournefortii son novedad para Portugal y 5 especies (Bonnemaisonia hamifera, Calosiphonia vermicularis, P. devoniensis, Hincksia intermedia y Derbesia marina stadium Halicystis ovalis) son nuevas citas para Galicia. Paralelamente, se aportan 101 primeras citas provinciales (2 Guipúzcoa, 1 Vizcaya, 8 Cantabria, 5 Asturias, 7 Lugo, 1 A Coruña, 8 Pontevedra, 1 Beira litoral, 15 Estremadura, 20 Alentejo, 25 Algarve y 8 Cádiz) y, además, se dan a conocer 108 segundas citas provinciales. Aunque la flora bentónica marina del Atlántico Peninsular ha sido objeto de numerosos estudios, estos nuevos hallazgos corológicos ponen en evidencia que todavía son necesarios más estudios florísticos en estas costas.English.  In this work, we provide new records and geographical distribution data for 98 seaweeds (61 Rhodophyta, 22 Ochrophyta, 15 Chlorophyta) inhabiting more than 80 sites (intertidal and subtidal) of the Atlantic Iberian Peninsula. Polysiphonia devoniensis, P. fibrata y Zonaria tournefortii are new records for Portugal and 5 species (Bonnemaisonia hamifera, Calosiphonia vermicularis, P. devoniensis, Hincksia intermedia and Derbesia marina stadium Halicystis ovalis) are new records for Galicia. Moreover, 101 new records are reported for the first time in the studied provinces (2 Guipúzcoa, 1 Vizcaya, 8 Cantabria, 5 Asturias, 7 Lugo, 1 A Coruña, 8 Pontevedra, 1 Beira litoral, 15 Estremadura, 20 Alentejo, 25 Algarve y 8 Cádiz) and 108 for the second time. Although the Atlantic marine algae of the Iberian Peninsula are well studied, these new findings show that further floristic studies are necessary to complete our knowledge of the natural heritage of this region.

The use of brown-macroalgae (Phaeophyceae) as an alginate source is very broad, covering the food and non-food industry, because of that it is necessary to know the safety of these natural resources, one of which is safe from heavy metal contamination. The purpose of this study was to determine heavy metals concentrations accumulated in several types of Phaeophyceae (brown macroalgae) as an alginate source from Malang Rapat waters, Bintan. The method used was descriptive non-experimental. The determination of the location of sampling was done by purposive sampling method. Samples were taken through free collection, identified species and measured of metal contamination concentrations for As, Cd, and Pb. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that Phaeophyceae found in Malang Rapat waters were Turbinaria conoides, Sargassum aquifolium, Padina australis, Hormophysa cuneiformis with each metal concentration contamination of As 13.95 to 23.30 µg.g-1 dry weight; Cd from 0.33 to 1.08 µg.g-1 dry weight and Pb from 4.72 to 9.92 µg.g-1 dry weight. This study showed that all metal contamination ranges in all Phaeophyceae were on the verge of the maximum limit set by the National Standardization Agency of Indonesia Indonesian (SNI) No 7387 of 2009 and National Agency of Drug and Food Control of RI (BPOM) Regulation No 5 of 2018 for dried macroalgae product so that Phaeophyceae from Malang Rapat waters - Bintan was not safe to be used as raw material for alginate source or other processed products of brown-macroalgae.

In this contribution we have studied the planktonic ciliates from Morenito Lake, an oligotrophic lake situated in the South Andes of Argentina. Six species that are new records for South America or Argentina are described and illustrated. Besides, population dynamics of the ciliate species were studied during a spring--summer period. Strobilidium lacustris and Balanion planctonicum were the most abundant species, showing a maximum in mid summer. Paradileptus elephantinus was present all over the period while Urotricha furcata was observed in late summer samples. Strobilidium lacustris and S. humile were found to be occasional species during the studied period. The recorded ciliate assemblage with oligotrichs and prostomates as dominant indicate the oligotrophic condition of the lake.

Ruizanthedella mutabilis (Spinola) is a very abundant species in Chile and the northwest of Argentinean Patagonia. In this contribution, Halictus nigrocaeruleus Spinola 1851 is established as a junior synonym of R. mutabilis (Spinola 1851), after considering morphological data, DNA barcoding results, and biological observations. The variability in the colouration of the metasoma has been incorrectly used to distinguish these colour forms as valid species. New records enlarge the distribution of the species in Argentina, from the Andes to the Atlantic coast.

Macroalgal beds are recognised for their role as nursery and feeding grounds for several marine species. This study was conducted in the Tamandaré reef complex within the limits of the Costa dos Corais Marine Protected Area (MPA), North-eastern Brazil. The macroalgal bed studied is subjected to several disturbances, especially from tourism. The reef fish were assessed with free dives during the day and night using visual censuses within transects (20 × 2 m) and random swims. The percentage algal cover was estimated using quadrats (40 cm2). The behavioural traits of the fish also provided an understanding of their habitat use. In total, 68 fish species were recorded. The most abundant species were representatives of the families Labridae, Pomacentridae, Acanthuridae and Haemulidae. Sargassum polyceratium, Dictyopteris delicatula and Canistrocarpus cervicornis were the most abundant macroalgae. Because the most abundant fish trophic guild included primarily mobile invertebrate feeders (41.8%) and carnivores (28.4%), it is suggested that the high-canopy macroalgae harbour epiphytic invertebrates, which these fish use for food. Thereby, the study area would act as important nursery and feeding grounds. Tourism activity (e.g. laying chairs, trampling and anchoring) may disrupt fish behaviour and life- history traits and result in damage that would require mitigation through environmental awareness and law enforcement in the most affected areas.

<p>Mites can establish association with different arthropods as coleopterans families Scarabaeidae and Passalidae. Passalids are distributed in tropical and templates zones, and until now, more than 200 species of mites have been associated to them. One of the relationships between passalids and mites is the phoresy where one small animal (the phoretic) seeks out and attaches to another animal (the host) for transportation. Herein, we studied the mites associated to <em>O</em>. <em>zodiacus</em> and <em>O</em>. <em>striatopunctatus</em>; for this, 80 <em>Odontotaenius</em> with mites were reviewed; passalids were collected in and under decaying logs from six states of Mexico, and were individually kept in vials with 80% ethanol. The specimens were carried to the laboratory and mites removed with fine-pointed forceps under stereo microscope. The mites were stored with 80 % alcohol until some were cleared with lacto-phenol and mounted in Hoyer’s solution. We found 1 945 mites belonging to 13 families (Acaridae, Ascidae, Diarthrophallidae, Digamasellidae, Diplogyniidae, Euzerconidae, Heterocheylidae, Histiostomatidae, Klinckowstroemiidae, Laelapidae, Megisthanidae, Trematuridae, and Uropodidae) and 42 species, being the most abundant species <em>Anoetus</em> sp. For <em>O.</em> <em>striatopunctatus</em> (16 specimens) we found 562 mites (95 ♀♀, 34 ♂♂, 197 hypopus, 234 deutonymph, 2 tritonymph) of 11 families and 22 species; the most abundant were Uropodidae (42 %) and Histiostomatidae (26 %). While for <em>O.</em> <em>zodiacus</em> (64 specimens) were found 1 383 mites (300 ♀♀, 204 ♂♂, 608 hypopus, 139 deutonymphs, 133 tritonymphs) of 10 families and 30 species; the most abundant were: Diartrophallidae, Acaridae, and Histiostomatidae (23 % for the two first and 21 % for third). The high abundance and richness was in <em>O. zodiacus</em>, likewise Margalef (<strong>S´)</strong> and Shanon-Winner (<strong>H´) </strong>indexes were higher in this species (<em>O. zodiacus</em> <strong>S´</strong> = 4.05, <strong>H´ </strong>= 2.2; <em>O striatopunctatus</em> <strong>S´ </strong>= 3.34, <strong>H´ </strong>= 1.94), while Equity (E<sub>H</sub>) was similar to both hosts (<em>O. zodiacus</em> <strong>E<sub>H </sub></strong>= 0.64; <em>O. striatopunctatus </em><strong>E<sub>H </sub></strong>= 0.63). The mites were found principally in the protected zone of the passalid’s body, as under elytron, membranous wings, and in the clefts of the ventral region of the passalid, and, in minor proportion, on the head and coxal regions. From our findings, 12 species were new records for the Mexican passalids: <em>Abrotarsala cuneiformis</em>, <em>A. obesa</em>, <em>A. pyriformis</em>, <em>Brachytremella </em>sp., <em>Diarthrophallus cartwrighti</em>, <em>D. crinatus</em>, <em>Lombardiniella </em>sp., <em>Trichodiplogynium carlosi</em>, <em>T. sahlbergi</em>, <em>T. hirsutum </em>and <em>Trichodiplogynium </em>sp., and additional studies may help describe and understand these mites-passalids associations.</p>

<p>Aphids are among the phytophagous pests that cause serious damage to crop plants. In Northern Algeria, we have little information on their diversity. In this context, the study of the diversity of aphids was carried out in three regions of Tizi-Ouzou (North of Algeria) namely Tizi-Ouzou center, Tizi-Rached and Aghribs on the potato crop using yellow traps. The results showed a total richness of 65 aphid species, divided into 36 genera, 9 tribes and 8 sub-families, of which 11 species were identified for the first time in Algeria. These are <em>Aphis coreopsidis</em> (Thomas, 1878), <em>Capitophorus hippophae</em> (Walker, 1852), <em>Cavariella theobaldi </em>(Gillette &amp; Bragg, 1918), <em>Hyadaphis coriandri </em>(B. Das, 1918), <em>Macrosiphoniella linariae </em>(Koch, 1855),<em>Monelliopsis pecanis </em>Bissell, 1983, <em>Myzus hemerocallis</em> Takahashi, 1921, <em>Pseudoregma panicola </em>(Takahashi, 1921), <em>Rhopalosiphoninus staphyleae</em> (Koch, 1854), <em>Schizaphis eastopi</em> Van Harten &amp; Ilharco, 1971 and <em>Ovatus inulae </em>(Walker, 1849)<em>. </em>The field located in the center of Tizi-Ouzou is the richest with 55 species, followed by the field of Tizi-Rached with 30 species, and 24 species have been recorded in Aghribs. During the sampling season, <em>Hyperomyzus lactucae</em> (Linnaeus, 1758) and <em>Brachycaudus helichrysi</em> (Kaltenbach, 1843)  are the most abundant species with 24.44 % and 21.8 % respectively. Three aphid species have been observed on potato leaves, namely <em>Macrosiphum</em> <em>euphorbiae</em> (Thomas, 1878), <em>Aphis</em> <em>gossypii</em> Glover, 1877  and <em>Myzus persicae</em> (Sulzer, 1776). The latter species was observed in all three study regions.</p>

Four species of scorpions (Ananteris mauryi Lourenço, 1982, Tityus neglectus Mello-Leitão, 1932, T. pusillus Pocock, 1893 and T. stigmurus (Thorell, 1876)) were collected in the " Mata do Buraquinho" , João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, Brazil. Aspects of biology for A. mauryi and new records on the geographic distribution of other species were annotated. Notes on the abundance and sex ratio on A. mauryi, the most abundant species in the area, are presented and discussed.
