ABSTRACT Objective: Construct and validate instrument content for nursing consultation in an adult chemotherapy outpatient clinic. Method: Methodological study composed of two stages: elaboration of the instrument and validation of content. A literary review of the dimensions of customer care was carried out in the light of Theory of Basic Human Needs Theory, culminating in two instruments: one for admission consultation and other for follow-up. The content was validated by the evaluation of listed experts based on the adapted Fehring’s Validation Model. Results: In the first round, two items of the admission instrument and three items of follow-up required reformulation. In the second round, there was an increase in agreement rate: 11% in the instrument of admission and 10% in follow-up. Final Consideration: The instrument represents a guideline for the Nursing Process and future research, but it cannot be seen as a substitute for nurses’ knowledge and clinical reasoning.

Nursing diagnoses of alcoholics admitted in a health unit.Abstract: Descriptive and quantitative research in order to identify nursing diagnoses and the congruence of his writing in relation to NANDA International and to correlate them with basic human needs. From medical records of 131 alcoholic admitted to hospitals, we verified the presence of 72 distinct diagnoses. The most common was “risk for falls” (12.2. The physiological needs were most affected. Introduction: Accidental tetanus is an infectious disease with systemic repercussions and high lethality. Due to the complexity surrounding the care for these patients, nursing care must be conducted in a systematic, scientific and individualized way. Objective: To report the experience of systematization of nursing care to a patient affected by accidental tetanus in the light of the Basic Human Needs theory. Outline: This is a descriptive study, an experience report, developed in March 2019 after nursing care for a patient diagnosed with accidental tetanus, admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) of a public hospital. Results: The elaboration of the care plan included information about the risk diagnosis and real diagnosis, nursing interventions and expected results, associated with the affected basic human need. Implications: It is well known that the provision of qualified care in the admission of patients with suspected accidental tetanus as well as their proper referral to the ICU contributes to a better prognosis.

This article seeks to broaden emotional labor research through the lens of a Human Experience (HX) perspective, in contrast to either an Employee (EX) or a Customer (CX) perspective. In services, an HX perspective explicitly acknowledges that both employees and customers are humans with the same set of basic human needs to gratify in their Moment of Truth (MOT) interactions. The focus here is on both parties’ needs for authenticity and justice. This HX perspective is applied here to guide integrating emotional labor dynamics and scholarship into a service climate research framework (Bowen and Schneider 2014). The emotional labor focus on employees helps balance the stronger focus on the customer in the service literature. An agenda for future research on the HX perspective is outlined, including the study of emotional labor in underdeveloped areas of the world where the human experience of both those who serve and those served can be unbearable.

Prosociality, understood as the capacity to act in a way that benefits others, is an important feature for emerging adults to fulfill their personal needs and fulfill developmental tasks. This life period is a time of exploration within various areas of life, enabling individuals to try out and choose own worldview, lifestyle, work and preferred patterns of interpersonal relationships. This review aims at bringing together the evidence on how prosociality (prosocial orientations, values, behaviors) or deficits in such features may be linked to the fulfillment of three basic human needs as conceptualized by the self-determination theory in emerging adults. The relation of prosociality to the three tasks in the context of development in emerging adulthood: (1) reaching autonomy from the family of origin, (2) achieving own identity and (3) establishing positive relationships with others, are outlined based on a literature review. Implications for future research are also provided.

ABSTRACTObjective: to propose a Nursing Care Systematization in an ‘Agreste’ of Pernambuco hospital rooming. Method: It´s a descriptive, exploratory study realized in two steps: first, a data collect tool was created, grounded on Horta’s conceptual model which is based on the Basic Human Needs. In the second step the tool was submitted to validation of content and appearances. The research was done by six nurses, called the research judges, who answered the questionnaire to validate the tool and besides they did the direct care to patients in the rooming of Jesus Nazareno Hospital in Caruaru- Pernambuco, after the approval of Research Ethics Committee with human beings – CEP/ASCES, under protocol 062/10. Results: despite the fact that 100% of the evaluators judged the tools as clear and adequate, the majority of judges suggested it should be more practical because the tool was long and of hard application in clinic practices due to work overcharge. Conclusion: the research enabled the reflection about the necessity of elaboration of an action plan which must include group sensibilization, involvement and participation in order to implement the systematization of care.
