ABSTRACT The Covid-19 is a global health threatening pandemic, so dental surgeons need to look for strategies to perform dental care safely for the patient, the dental professional himself, and the dental team. The goal is to design strategies to optimize dental impression practice during the Covid-19 pandemic. The strategies that optimize dental impression practice during the pandemic are to adopt the digital fingerprint workflow. If necessary, a conventional impression technique that favors the professional’s performance, select the impression material that is easy to decontaminate and affinity for the professional; the plaster leak must be performed still inside the dental office, and then the disinfection of the plaster model must be previously sent to the prosthesis laboratory.

The diverse viscosities of silicone impression materials are suited for their use in various impression techniques, intended to improve the precision of the cast impression in the form of a plaster model. The purpose of this research is to determine the dimensional stability and accuracy of the double-phase impression technique in 1 step and 2 steps by using a condensation silicone impression material. This research was carried out by using a precise stainless-steel master model and an individual aluminum tray. Comparing the abutments of the master model and the abutments of the double-phase impression technique in 2 steps, showed that they are wider on average 81 µm, while the abutments from the double-phase impression technique in 1 step are on average 281 µm wider in diameter. After analyzing the results obtained in relation to the diameter of the abutments, it can be concluded that the double-phase impression technique in 2 steps is dimensionally more stable and accurate compared to the double-phase impression technique in 1 step. This study shows that dimensional stability and accuracy of impression materials also depend on the selection of appropriate impression technique and proper performance in order to obtain a high quality dental impression that will be the basis for an accurate fixed-prosthodontic fabrication. Quick setting dental impression materials are nothing new in the paleontology laboratory. In a paleontological note published in the Journal of Paleontology on “The Use of Dental Impression Material For Molding Macrofossils” (Quilty & Williams, 1975), the products Xantopren and Optosil were introduced as a simple and fast method of obtaining precision molds in 1-3 minutes. Since the mid-1970's these products have been replaced by vinyl polysiloxanes.

Oral mucocele is a benign cystic exophytic lesion affecting the minor salivary gland and is especially present in pediatric patients (3% under 14 years). It is characterized by an extravasation or retention of fluid or mucus in the submucosal tissue of the minor salivary glands. Several surgical techniques have been proposed over the years, including the excision of the mucocele by using the injection of a hydrocolloid impression material in the light of the cyst to prevent the collapse of the cystic wall and solidify the lesion, resulting in a better cleavage plan. The combined clinical approach between the combination of Shira’s technique and the surgical excision of the cystic lesion results in a conservative surgical removal of the lesion. Here, we reported the removal of a labial mucocele in a 14-year-old male patient, using the injection of a hydrocolloid impression material. At a 12 months follow up, the patient showed complete healing of the surgical site, showing a pinkish lip lining mucosa without scarring or recurrence of the primary lesion. The combined therapeutic approach between Shira’s technique and surgical excision allows a safe and predictable excision of the labial mucocele, minimizing the risk of recurrence.

Background. Medical emergencies can be distressing for any dental professional, whether in a dental practice, hospital or other sites. Objectives. To assess the knowledge and awareness of dental practitioners towards medical emergencies and its management in Bhubaneswar. Material and Methods. In this cross-sectional investigation, a self-administered questionnaire which included demographic details and 19 questions regarding knowledge about medical emergencies, was disseminated to a random sample of 183 dentists working in their private dental clinic set up in Bhubaneswar. Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis. Results. Total sample size was 183, out of which 79 (43.17%) were males and 104 (56.83%) were females. The mean age was found out to be 30.7 ± 5.38 years. Practically 96% of the practitioners were not certain enough to deal with the emergency conditions at dental office. Around 67% had not attended any workshop on emergency training. It was amazing to observe that larger part (90%) of the experts didn't possess first aid kit at their dental office. In instances of handling emergency situation at the dental chair no statistical significance (p>0.05) with respect to age and gender was found. Conclusion. This investigation showed that hypothetically dental professionals had better knowledge on medical emergencies yet at the same time they were not equipped efficiently to manage the same at their workplace.

В условиях социального медицинского страхования удовлетворенность пациентов полученной медицинской помощью является одним из основных критериев оценки её качества. Цель исследования. Оценить уровень удовлетворенности пациентов, получающих лечение в стоматологическом кабинете. Материал и методы. Был проведен социологический опрос 83 пациентов, получающих лечение в стоматологическом кабинете. Выводы. На основании проведенного нами опроса и полученных результатов выявлено, что в целом респонденты отмечают удовлетворенность стоматологической услугой. Также отмечают высокое качество оказываемых услуг. In the context of social health insurance, the satisfaction of patients with the received medical care is one of the main criteria for assessing its quality. Purpose of the study. Assess the level of satisfaction of patients receiving treatment in the dental office. Material and methods. A sociological survey was conducted of 83 patients receiving treatment in the dental office. Conclusions. Based on our survey and the results obtained, it was revealed that, in general, the respondents note satisfaction with the dental service. They also note the high quality of the services provided.
