Abstract Objectives: To characterize the in-service training process of health workers from federal prison units. Method: This is a qualitative descriptive-exploratory study. The information was collected through semi-structured interviews with professionals of the referred services, from June to October 2018. Results: Data analysis revealed that health professionals were unaware of the work performed within these establishments and that the concern of these institutions by the improvement of these workers is recent and marked by isolated actions. Of the courses offered, few contemplate the reality of prison health causing the server to seek knowledge on their own. Due to the violent and confining environment, the health team lacks courses such as defense and weaponry. Conclusions and implications for practice: The study reveals flaws in the training strategies offered by the organization and incipient managerial awareness about the professional and emotional preparation of these workers.

Objective: This qualitative, descriptive study explored the experiences of midwives and community health workers (CHWs) using mhealth to improve the care provided to pregnant women living in the rural Diapangou region of Burkina Faso, Africa. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 4 CHWs and 4 community health center staff. Transcripts were content analyzed. Results: Despite internet connectivity challenges all participants agreed that mhealth allowed them to provide better maternal care. The service enhanced their practice collectively, through facilitating better follow-up care, promoting communication and collaboration, and facilitated management while simplifying administrative tasks. From a managerial perspective, having access to productivity information allowed for effective oversight and supervision of work-related activities. CHWs perceived additional work responsibilities and an opportunity for growth; however, both CHWs and staff recognized that the exposure to technology allowed them to achieve mastery of basic computer skills. Conclusions: The ‘digital divide’ remains a challenge in low resource settings, thus while findings are promising, Burkina Faso will have to wait to reap the full benefits of digital technology until a supportive infrastructure can be put in place.

Abstract Background The research starts at the possible invisibility of the theme of Health Promotion (PS) in Health education, its curricular propositions as well as its teaching strategies, and when visible, questions arise: What is the concept of Promotion in Health underpinning the training actions implemented? The concealment of the theme makes it impossible to produce the Health Promotion within the scope of a Residency Program? Methods To analyze the dynamics of the conduct of the Health Promotion Policy, present in the relationship between the centrality of the guidelines formulated at national and global level and the decentralization of Health Education strategies. This proposal presents a qualitative and systemic approach, which intends to analyze four in-service training programs (three national and one international), with regard to the conceptual conceptions of Health Promotion and Health System users. the subjects of the research, conduct semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis when necessary. Results This proposal presents as a reference the expanded concept of health and its social determinants, the responsibility of the State in sanitary regulation, universality, population participation and integrality, accessibility to information as a right and territorialization. Conclusions This study will feed the elaboration, in two Brazilian municipalities, through the School of Public Health of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, of a training proposal for health workers, guided by the conceptual and political framework of Health Promotion. Key messages The dynamics of the Health Promotion Policy, present in the relationship between the centrality of the guidelines formulated at global level and the decentralization of Health Education strategies. The importance of Health Promotion in interprofessional training in health services.

Abstract Background Australian podiatrists and podiatric surgeons who have successfully completed the requirements for endorsement for scheduled medicines, as directed by the Podiatry Board of Australia, are eligible to prescribe a limited amount of schedule 2, 3, 4 or 8 medications. Registration to become endorsed for scheduled medicines has been available to podiatrists for over 10 years, yet the uptake of training has remained low (approximately 2% of registered podiatrists/podiatry surgeons). This study aimed to explore barriers to and facilitators of engagement with endorsement for scheduled medicines by podiatrists. Methods Qualitative descriptive methodology informed this research. A purposive maximum variation sampling strategy was used to recruit 13 registered podiatrists and a podiatric surgeon who were either endorsed for scheduled medicines, in training or not endorsed. Semi-structured interviews were employed to collate the data which were analysed using thematic analysis. Results Three overarching super-ordinate themes were identified which encompassed both barriers and facilitators: (1) competence and autonomy, (2) social and workplace influences, and (3) extrinsic motivators. Within these, several prominent sub-themes emerged of importance to the participants including workplace and social networks role in modelling behaviours, identifying mentors, and access to supervised training opportunities. Stage of life and career often influenced engagement. Additionally, a lack of financial incentive, cost and time involved in training, and lack of knowledge of training requirements were influential barriers. Rural podiatrists encountered a considerable number of barriers in most of the identified areas. Conclusion A multitude of barriers and facilitators exist for podiatrists as part of the endorsement for scheduled medicines. The findings suggest that a lack of engagement with endorsement for scheduled medicines training may be assisted by a more structured training process and increasing the number of podiatrists who are endorsed to increase the numbers of role models, mentors, and supervision opportunities. Recommendations are provided for approaches as means of achieving, and sustaining, these outcomes.

AbstractObjective: to analyze the repercussions of the use of music in the hospitalization process of children in a tertiary pediatric hospital. Method: this is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study through an interview with a semi-structured questionnaire to three hospitalized children, five parents and/or legal guardians and six health professionals, identified according to musical notes (DO, RÉ and MI). The data analysis process was performed by the Content Analysis technique. Results: music was found to be a lightweight technology capable of developing and reaching potentials in the daily life of the pediatric hospital. The musicality ends also empowering the health team in order to favor the consolidation of activities and the expansion of the value of care. Conclusion: it was identified that music mitigates suffering and integrates children and family members in a place that, for them, is unsafe and unknown, as well as captivates, engages and thrills. It is therefore suggested that such a strategy could serve as a model for other pediatric hospitals. Descriptors: Music; Terapeutics; Music Therapy; Hospitalization; Nursing; Hospitals, Pediatric.ResumenObjetivo: analizar las repercusiones del uso de la música en el proceso de hospitalización de niños en un hospital pediátrico terciario.
