Objective - This paper presents an overview of Construction Project Manager's (CPM) responsibility in Malaysia. The construction sector plays a vital role in Malaysian economy and a very significant part of its' sustainable development. CPM is a professional who monitors all works in the construction project from top to bottom. The role of CPM is very important to identify their range of top responsibilities which might have different levels of priorities depending on the type of project. Methodology/Technique - There are several of them identified from the literature. The objective of this study was to identify which responsibilities were among the top ones, and to find out whether they have any kind of inter-relationship between them. The Experts were chosen for interview and questionnaire survey. A comparative analysis was performed by using Expert Choice, which gave the rankings. Findings - A qualitative judgment showed that there were indeed some responsibilities which can play significant role. However, it was tough to single them out in a clear ranking, nor was it seemed primarily necessary. Rather, a group of responsibilities appeared to describe the phenomenon more clearly. Novelty - The study also showed how some of these responsibilities seemed to be closely interlinked and why they actually need to be together cohesively. The contribution of information systems on Project success become an interesting topic to investigate, especially in a construction project. The project successfully achieved when the information system was well used with appropriate communication knowledge in a construction project.  However, in worker perspectives, the role of the information system in a construction project is not significant to achieve the project's success due to it indicated by the main indicator which is the finish on schedule, high quality and within budget. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the correlation and effect between IS to project success in terms of product quality and on-time finish the project. This research was conducted through a questionnaire and survey analysis. The total respondent is 105 that consists of 23 Project Manager (PM), 13 Vice PM and 69 site coordination. The data was analyzed by SPSS and Smart PLS software. The result shows that there is a significant effect of system quality to Information quality with CR value of 5.174, system quality to project success has CR value of 3.564 and information quality to project success has CR value of 2.037. It can be concluded that IS was very important to ensure the project success especially in a construction project in Jabodetabek Region.

Abstract. Background: High school and university teachers need to advise students against attempting suicide, the second leading cause of death among 15–29-year-olds. Aims: To investigate the role of reasoning and emotion in advising against suicide. Method: We conducted a study with 130 students at a university that specializes in teachers' education. Participants sat in front of a camera, videotaping their advising against suicide. Three raters scored their transcribed advice on "wise reasoning" (i.e., expert forms of reasoning: considering a variety of conditions, awareness of the limitation of one's knowledge, taking others' perspectives). Four registered psychologists experienced in suicide prevention techniques rated the transcripts on the potential for suicide prevention. Finally, using the software Facereader 7.1, we analyzed participants' micro-facial expressions during advice-giving. Results: Wiser reasoning and less disgust predicted higher potential for suicide prevention. Moreover, higher potential for suicide prevention was associated with more surprise. Limitations: The actual efficacy of suicide prevention was not assessed. Conclusion: Wise reasoning and counter-stereotypic ideas that trigger surprise probably contribute to the potential for suicide prevention. This advising paradigm may help train teachers in advising students against suicide, measuring wise reasoning, and monitoring a harmful emotional reaction, that is, disgust.

The success of a construction project is a widely discussed topic, even today, and there exists a difference of opinion. The impact of communication and conflict on project success is an important, but least addressed, issue in literature, especially in the case of underdeveloped countries. Miscommunication and conflict not only hinder the success of a project but also may lead to conflicts. The focus of this paper was to examine the impact of communication on project success with the mediating role of conflict. By using SPSS, demographics, descriptive statistics and correlation were determined. Smart PLS version 3.0 was used for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), internal accuracy and validity estimates, hypothesis checking and mediation testing. The results showed that formal communication has a negative impact on the success of a construction project, resulting in conflicts among project team members, whereas informal communication and communication willingness have a positive impact on project success because people tend to know each other, and trust is developed. Task, process and relationship conflicts were used as mediating variables. It was found that task conflict effects the relations positively because project team members suggest different ways to do a certain task, and, hence, project success is achieved. On the contrary, process conflict and relationship conflict have a negative impact on communication and project success. Both of these conflicts lead to miscommunication, and project success is compromised. Hence, it is the responsibility of the project manager to enhance communication among project team members and to reduce the detrimental effects of process and relationship conflict on project success.

PurposeIn the construction industry, site managers are responsible for the day-to-day on-site running of a project. Site managers are required not only to ensure that work is done safely, on time, within budget and to the right quality standards, but also to manage any delays or problems encountered on-site during a construction project. Thus, a site manager has a significant position in the success of a construction project. However, there is a lack of studies considering the role of the leadership style of a site manager in construction project success. In this study, not only the effect of the transformational leadership (TL) style of site managers on the success of construction projects is assessed, but also the mediating role of team-building (TB) and team innovation between TL and project success is studied.Design/methodology/approachThe proposed hypotheses are tested by comparing the performance criteria of construction projects with the TL style of site managers. The success criteria of the projects are examined using project documents and client opinions, and the TL of site managers, TB aspects and team innovation in projects are assessed by asking from their subordinates. The Pearson correlation coefficient is employed to investigate the relation between every two variables.FindingsThe results illustrate that the TL of a site manager is directly related to project success; thus, the findings would confirm the importance of selecting appropriate site managers for construction projects. Moreover, while there is a mediating role of TB between TL and construction project success, team innovation does not have a mediating impact in design-bid-build (DBB) construction projects.Originality/valueAs there is a lack of studies assessing the TL effects on the success of construction projects and the significant role of site managers, this study is one of the first researches that tested these impacts and evaluated the mediating role of TB and team innovation between TL and project performance.
