This research aimed at designing and improving the web-based integrated peer and self- assessment. WesPASS (web-based peer-assessment system), developed in this research, allows students to assess their own or their peers’ performance and project assignments and to report about the result of these assessments so that they correct their assignments. This study employed design-based research. The participants included 102 fourth grade primary school students and their 4 teachers from 2 state and 2 private primary schools in Ankara, Kecioren (Turkey) who employed the system and were engaged in a questionnaire survey to assess its quality. The findings were analyzed through quantitative data analysis. The findings revealed that the system can be used by elementary school students for peer and self-assessment system. The participants stated that WesPASS is simple and user-friendly, and it accelerates the assessment process by employing information technology and allows to share opinions

Abstract Background and Objectives Staff-resident communication is a critical part of nursing home (NH) care. Reducing elderspeak and increasing person-centered communication has been shown to reduce behavioral symptoms experienced by persons living with dementia. An online version of a successful classroom-based communication-training program that reduced staff elderspeak and resident behavioral symptoms was evaluated. The objective of this study was to establish feasibility and determine the preliminary effects of the online program in preparation for a national pragmatic clinical trial. Research Design and Methods Seven NHs were randomized to immediate intervention or wait-list control conditions. The NHs were provided with the web-based training program that staff individually accessed. Primary outcomes were knowledge scores and communication ratings of a video-recorded interaction, using pre- to post-training comparisons. Results Knowledge increased from a mean pretest score of 61.9% (SD=20.0) to a mean posttest score of 84.6% (SD=13.5) for the combined group. Knowledge significantly improved between Time 1 and Time 2 for the immediate intervention participants (p<.001), but not for the wait-list control participants (p=.091), and this difference was statistically significant (p<.001). Ability to recognize ineffective, inappropriate, non-person-centered, and elderspeak communication improved after training (p<.001). The magnitude of improvement in communication recognition was comparable to that of the original classroom format. Discussion and Implications The adapted communication intervention was feasible and improved knowledge and communication. Online instruction can improve access to quality education and is an effective means to improve dementia care by overcoming barriers to in-person training.

<p>Remix is touted as one of the most important practices within the field of open educational resources (OER). But remixing is still not mainstream practice in education and the barriers and limitations to remix are not well known. In this article we discuss the design and development of a print and web-based booklet created to introduce the topic of OER to schoolteachers. The guide, the first of its kind available in Portuguese, was created through the remix and translation of existing resources available in English. Choosing design-as-remix raised a series of concerns related to licensing, attribution, context, and technical standards. In this article we review the concerns related to culture and inequity within the OER movement, followed by the design choices and procedures, and finally the implications of these issues for the open educational resources movement.</p>

This research aimed to develop Android-based Appy Pie learning media in mathematics subjects, especially two-dimensional shape material. Moreover, to determine the validity level of the android-based Appy Pie learning media developed and to determine the students' responses after using android-based Appy Pie learning media. This research uses the 3D model (define, design, and development) as the modification result of the 4D model by Thiagarajan. The subjects of this research were 45 fourth-grade students of SDN Rawu. The result of this research is the average score of media experts validation is 91.11% which included in the “very feasible” category, the average score of material expert validation is 98.33% which included in the “very feasible” category. The average score of the students response is 91.11% that included in the “very good” category, so it can be concluded that the Android-based Appy Pie learning media is feasible to use in the two-dimensional shape material of fourth-grade.
