PurposeIn performative architectural design, daylighting is a crucial design consideration; however, the evaluation of daylighting in the design process can be challenging. Immersive environments (IEs) can create a dynamic, multi-sensory, first-person view in computer-generated environments, and can improve designers' visual perception and awareness during performative design processes. This research addresses the need for interactive and integrated design tools for IEs toward better-performing architectural solutions in terms of daylighting illumination. In this context, building information modeling and performance simulations are identified as critical technologies to be integrated into performative architectural design.Design/methodology/approachThis research adopts a design science research (DSR) methodology involving an iterative process of development, validation and improvement of a novel and immersive tool, HoloArch, that supports design development during daylighting-informed design processes. HoloArch was implemented in a game engine during a spiral software development process. HoloArch allows users to interact with, visualize, modify and explore architectural models. The evaluation is performed in two workshops and a user study. A hybrid approach that combines qualitative and quantitative data collection was adopted for evaluation. Qualitative data analyses involve interviews, while quantitative data analyses involve both daylighting simulations and questionnaires (e.g. technology acceptance model (TAM), presence and system usability scale (SUS)).FindingsAccording to the questionnaire results, HoloArch had 92/100 for SUS, a mean value of 120.4 for presence questionnaire (PQ) and 9.4/10 for TAM. According to the simulation results, all participants improved the given building's daylighting performance using HoloArch. The interviews also indicated that HoloArch is an effective design tool in terms of augmented perception, continuous design processes, performative daylighting design and model interaction. However, challenges still remain regarding the complete integration of tools and simultaneous simulation visualization. The study concludes that IEs hold promising potentials where performative design actions at conceptual, spatial and architectural domains can take place interactively and simultaneously with immediate feedback.Originality/valueThe research integrates building information modeling (BIM), performative daylighting simulations and IEs in an interactive environment for the identification of potentials and limitations in performative architectural design. Different from existing immersive tools for architecture, HoloArch offers a continuous bidirectional workflow between BIM tools and IEs.

The Computer Models Of Buildings That Contain All The Information About Future Facilities, Which Is Called BIM (Building Information Modeling) Technologies, Took An Important Place In Architectural Offices And Architectural Design. By Means Of BIM Technologies, The Main Groups Of Specialists Had A Chance To Collaborate From The Very Beginning Of The Creation Of The Building Model And Its Use Up To The End Of The Design Of The Building. Since The 1960s, Computer Programs Were Mainly For Drawing, But With BIM Technologies, It Is Possible To Present A Virtual Reality Of A Building Process. Since It Is Extremely Important To Select Suitable Software To Perform The Analysis And Design In Building Tasks, With The Existence Of Much-Specialized Software In These Domains, In This Paper, Based On The Investigations Performed Especially For The Last Decade Developments And Added Capabilities, A Guideline For Architects And Engineers Is Presented. In This Regard Many Software Were Evaluated And The Most Useful Used Ones Such As Graphisoft Archicad, Autodesk Revit Architecture, Gehry Tech., Nemetschek Allplan Architecture, TAD, Nemetschek Vectorworks Architect, Digital Project Designer, Microstation, Dynamo Studio, Freecad Architecture, Sketchup Software Are Recommended To Be Employed In Analysis And Design Of Buildings. Employing The Recommended Software, Not Only Facilitate The Teamwork In Design But Also Increase The Performance Of The Design

Civil engineering is considered to be the area with the highest occurrence of occupational injuries. Workers perform plenty of activities that endanger their health and put them at risk of occupational injuries and diseases. There are many convincing proves that dangerous risk situations appear already in the early stages of project proposals. On the basis of this fact we can estimate that one of the most effective methods of preventing and reducing occupational injuries is elimination of potential risk at the very beginning, i.e. already in the architectural design. Information models BIM enable us to simulate the overall situation of the project both structurally and visually. Thanks to this fact we can prevent multiple problems occurring not only during the realisation phase, but during the usage of buildings as well.

Mobile Building Information Modeling (BIM) is noted for tools that enable the systematic interchange of information and contribute to enhancing collaborative performance through BIM. BIM programs, which are continuously available in the mobile environment, have been developed. Moreover, in some sites, mobile BIM is applied to generate benefits in projects. Various efforts are being made to use mobile BIM; however, its utilization is low. Also, mobile BIM has lacked an analysis of the factors that affect actual users’ acceptance of mobile BIM. Therefore, this study analyzes the factors that affect the acceptance of mobile BIM by construction practitioners and presents the association of factors as a model to activate mobile BIM use. To this end, this study analyzed a literature review for suggesting the factors that were expected to affect mobile BIM acceptance. The assessment items were decided based on the analysis result. Second, 111 copies were received by surveying the construction practitioners. Third, it identified factors that significantly affected the acceptance of mobile BIM and proposed models through factor analysis and structural equation models. Finally, based on the analysis, it presented the findings. This study expects to contribute to enhanced acceptance of mobile BIM technology by managing the significant factors properly. Also, it is expected that the result can be used to develop a variety of mobile BIM that is more easily acceptable to them. This study presented a model for accepting mobile BIM based on the survey results of Korean practitioners; therefore, it is necessary to explore ways to generalize the model in the future.

This study is devoted to the problem of digital transformation in the construction industry. To solve the proposed emerging approach for integrating information flows based on Building information modeling (BIM). This research describes the advanced methodology for creating a unified information model in construction, which combines architectural, design, engineering, cost and depreciation models of a construction object, raises a number of problems of reorganizing business processes at enterprises. The novelty of the research lies in the model of adapted common data environment based on life cycle of a construction project by stages of implementation and emergence of information. The proposed architecture is a platform for intelligent parametric modeling as intelligent CAD, which allows linking all elements of the model "Digital Enterprise".The result of the study is a conceptual mechanism for improving the efficiency of enterprise management processes based on the architectural approach in terms of digitalization of construction. Emerging technology in the study is the architecture of the intelligent decision support system in construction based on 5D BIMtechnology and Digital Enterprise. The main advantage of the proposed approach is the possibility of multiple reuse of information by all participants in the development and implementation of an investment and construction project without changes and distortions of data about the construction object. Keywords — Building Information Modeling, BIM, Digital Enterprise, Common Data Environment, life cycle of construction project, digitalization of construction

The interest of engineers in computer technology as a means of facilitating their professional tasks, appeared in the last century. In this regard, by the early 60-ies of the twentieth century, a sufficient mathematical basis for writing specialized engineering programs was formed. In the following years, the active development of various software designed for two-dimensional and three-dimensional modeling began, and in the 80 - ies the first buildings appeared, the design of which was carried out with their use. Engineering systems are a set of technical solutions that ensure the normal functioning of consumers. Modern buildings, regardless of the purpose, are densely filled with engineering networks, as they are necessary for a comfortable stay of people in the room. The abbreviation “ BIM “-Building Information Modeling translates as “ building information modeling” Building information modeling is an approach to object life cycle management, which involves automated collection and complex processing in the design process of all architectural, design, technological, economic and other information about the building with all its relationships and dependencies, when the building and everything related to it are considered as a single object.
