The article is devoted to the study of the relevance of anthropological issues in the beginning of twentieth century and socio-cultural background of the anthropological sciences. The specificity of the subject and method of anthropology as a science in general focused on the systematization of empirical material which was studied. In this context, the logic of the formation of cultural / social anthropology and its instrumental interest to the video productions of technical media is studied. Anthropology tried to form a scientific understanding of human world as a holistic phenomenon (combining theoretical generalizations based on empirical data), while cultural anthropology focused on the study of cultural diversity. Visual anthropology emerged as a crossing of the fields of cultural anthropology as an academic discipline and the field of application of technical optical media, and thus a new source of empirical material. The gradual accumulation of empirical material in the "field researches" of anthropologists allowed to significantly expand the subject area and optics of anthropological science. And also it allowed visual anthropology to go gradually beyond the instrumental function that was originally intended for it. Meanwhile, the text-centered view of ethnographic material led to the transform of the culture of indigenous peoples into the codes of Western civilization, and hence to its reduction. Any of the various authentic non-Western cultures fundamentally distinguishes them from the unification style of the modern culture. The accumulation of video production by ethnography has allowed not only to preserve the disappearing authentic cultures, but also to develop methods of systematization of visual material, as well as to understand the role of visual anthropology as an autonomous discipline of the humanities. The integration of two aspects of visual anthropology (the production and study of images) casts doubt the classical style of positivist science: in particular, on the one hand the status of the subject as an observer or a spectator, on the one hand, and the monopoly of text optics, on the other.

The question was raised at the end of World War II as to whether or not international relations could stand as a separate field of study. Views were expressed by scholars and teachers in history and political science to the effect that in substance there was nothing peculiar to the subject matter of international relations which did not fall under other separate fields of social studies. At some universities and colleges there were dissenters to this prevailing viewpoint. Their particular philosophy manifested itself in attempts to create and establish integrated curricula under academic committees or departments dedicated to the broad generalized study of die subject matter of the field. It is still too early to pass judgment with any finality on the merits of these two points of view, the one viewing international relations as a mere duplication of the subject matter of many fields; the odier insisting that diere must be an ordering and integrative approach to die field. No serious student would presume to claim that die study of international relations had arrived at die stage of an independent academic discipline. However, there have been three significant developments within no more than a single generation which illuminate certain aspects of this problem. First we have witnessed the evolution and development of a point of focus or core in the field. Secondly, diere have been die first faint and feeble beginnings of attempts to create a mediodology appropriate for the field, or at least to determine those related mediodologies in the social sciences whose methods and techniques could most usefully be appropriated for the study of persistent international issues. Thirdly, inventories have been drawn up by individual scholars, universities and institutes, of topics and concrete projects which would best serve in the development of general principles in the field and the validation of them dirough systematic inquiry.

Technology has become an indispensable phenomenon in the contemporary era which has its impact in every walk of life and education is not an exception to this. The tech-savvy students of today have easily adopted the electronic textbooks as a replacement of printed textbooks owing to its ease of use, cost effectiveness and accessibility. Varied views on the students’ preference of the specified format of textbooks have laid the platform for more formal and fo-cused research pursuits these days globally. Therefore, a research to differenti-ate the advantages and disadvantages of both the formats and the reasons that are primary to opt for the one over the other at a regional level is very much the need of the hour. The study aimed to find out the interest and preference that prevailed in the minds of students of Gulf University, Kingdom of Bah-rain, with respect to the adopting of electronic textbooks over the printed text-books as this kind of study has been carried out much limited in this region. A list of questions was made in order to find out the pros and cons of the printed textbooks and electronic textbooks so that the valid reasons for the preference could be identified. The study adopted a quantitative research design and the questionnaire as a research tool to collect the data. The result affirms that most of the students are familiar with both the formats of textbooks and are more comfortable using electronic textbooks and have expressed their willingness to a complete shift from printed textbooks to electronic textbooks. Nevertheless, the findings make it clear that the students opt for electronic textbooks depend-ing upon the nature of the subject or academic discipline.

The paper presents results of simulation of the bearing misalignment defect in a power turboset. The results are shown in the form of a set of journal and bush trajectories of all bearings in the turboset. The subject area of analysis was the vibrational effect of displacing two most vulnerable bearings in horizontal and vertical directions by a maximum permissible range calculated taking into account the permissible bearing vibration criterion. Relations were shown between the shape and dimensions of particular bearing trajectories on the one hand, and their location with respect to the misaligned bearing and direction of misalignment, on the other hand. It was indicated that the relative journal trajectories and absolute bush trajectories carry much more information about the dynamic state of the machine than vibration amplitudes measured by standard. The trajectories contain the information on the amplitudes of relative and absolute bearing vibrations in all directions, complemented by journal and bush trajectory shapes, indicating the way in which bearings are loaded. As a result trajectories can be a source of information on the position and direction of bearing displacements. The article indicates the potential of using trajectory patterns for diagnosing misalignment defects in rotating machines. Including a set of trajectories to the base of knowledge of a diagnostic system can extend its diagnostic abilities by including bearing misalignment defects, which are frequently recorded in these machines.

The paper presents the axiomatic-deductive strategy of organizing the content of an academic discipline with the help of ontological approach in the e-learning systems in the field of information technologies. The authors have taken into account that the necessary property of the system of axiomatic statements is their consistency. On the basis of axiomatic-deductive strategy, new approaches to the formation of the discipline content are proposed. It is proved that the system of true statements of an academic discipline is based on its terminology-conceptual apparatus, in particular, axiomatic statements. The developed mathematical structures that describe the axiomatic-deductive substrategy of the organization of the academic discipline general statements and the taxonomically oriented substrategy of the deployment of the academic discipline content are presented in the article. This ensures the transition from the content form of representation of the set of statements of the academic discipline to its presentation by means of artificial languages of mathematical logic. The use of descriptive logic ensures the formalization of the procedure for displaying an axiomatic informal system in an axiomatic formal system. The mathematical structures describe and detail the abstract logical-semantic core of the academic discipline in the form of a group of axiomatic systems. It is noted that the basic core of the content of academic discipline contains its basic concepts and judgments. This ensures a strictly logical transition from abstract general concepts and statements to the concepts and assertions of the lower level of universality and abstraction. It is noted that in order to accommodate the content of an academic discipline is advisable to develop a taxonomically oriented sub-strategy based on the multiple application of operations of general concept division. The mathematical structures allow for analysis of a generalized structure of interactions between the verbal level of the description of the academic discipline subject area, the formal level of description of the subject area and the description of the subject area at the level of computer ontology, which is implemented through the formalization, interpretation, encoding and decoding in the computer-ontology development environment. As an example of the application of the proposed axiomatic-deductive strategy, the elements of the glossary and taxonomies of the concepts of the discipline "Computer Logic", which are embodied in the Protégé environment with the help of OWL ontology description language have been developed.

In connection with the deepening globalization processes and the interaction of scientists from different countries, the linguistic terminology systems of modern Slavic languages in the second half of the XX and at the beginning of the XXI century have been enlarged with new special units, which causes quantitative and qualitative changes in their composition, interest in the problems of the origin, formation and dynamics of this terminology system. The purpose of the study is to establish the regularity of the terminological nomination of linguistic concepts in the Middle and Modern Polish periods (XVI century – 1939). Taking into account the internal and external linguistic factors that influenced the formation and functioning of linguistics terminology in the Polish language, the basic methods of term formation (semantic, morphological, syntactic) are analyzed, confirming, on the one hand, the connection with the common language, and on the other hand, the uniqueness and specificity of the subject linguistic terminology corpus. The consolidation of a special nomination in Polish linguistic terminology at different chronological sections took place in stages. The transition of special words from one category to another (preterms → quasi-terms → terms) displays a system of complex changes in the branched term system of the subject area of linguistics.

Since 1965, Tenneco Australia and Signal Pacific have been exploring three tenements totalling 30,082 square miles off the eastern coast of the Cape York Peninsula Queensland. The area is relatively unexplored but the recent drilling of the Anchor Cay well, along with seismic mapping, provides a vital link between the Papuan Basin and the Laura and other basins of the Queensland coast. The primary objective of the exploration venture was initially and remains, the Mesozoic age sandstones believed to exist in a near shore environment in the subject area. Carboniferous pyroclastics and Permian granites form the positive Cape York-Oriomo Platform. Mid-Mesozoic age sediments, are found east of this ridge, becoming thicker and more basinal regionally eastward. Tension faulting along the southwest flank of the basin has created several closed structures. Tertiary sediments are primarily carbonates and exist in a shelf, reef, forereef arrangement with petroliferous pinnacle reefs being located on bathymetrically favored structures.Seismic mapping directed at the northern portion of the tenements located several structures worthy of testing. The one with the maximum sedimentary column, the Anchor Cay structure, was chosen for a stratigraphic test and drilled in early 1969. No severe drilling problems were found at shallow depths but below 10,700 feet sloughing of cobbles into the borehole became a problem. The well was abandoned at 11,888 feet, still in sediments, where continued drilling became impracticable. The lithology encountered in this stratigraphic test was similar to that anticipated. A reef core of Pliocene rock was penetrated. Miocene rocks in a near back reef environment, and a thin Eocene carbonate section were penetrated. At approximately 7,000 feet an unconformity separated the Tertiary carbonates from the Mesozoic elastics. Immediately beneath the unconformity were reservoir quality sandstones of lower Cretaceous age. Volcanic and/or intrusive exotics became increasingly common in the Jurassic.Based on the facies encountered in the Anchor Cay stratigraphic test, it seems apparent that the most favored fairway for sandstone reservoir development is to the west where seismic shooting has indicated several structures. The initial basic concepts regarding this exploration venture are still valid and much more effort is required before a thorough evaluation can be made.

Absract. The regulatory documents of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science set the task of forming competencies of students. Competences are understood as knowledge and skills. Knowledge is the world outlook component of science, and therefore the corresponding academic discipline, and skills are its methodological component. The world outlook refers to the system of views on the subject area of science, and the methodology is the system of intangible means of cognition and practical activities developed in this science and presented in the relevant academic discipline. It is noted that the subject of study in logic is not only the particular structure of thoughts and processes of thinking (forms of thought and processes of thinking), but also the types and characteristics of the original components of complex thoughts and processes of thinking, such as signs and terms. In the article on the example of logic the author's concept of the methodological component of the academic discipline is described. Attention is drawn to the importance of using in the process of cognition methodological standpoints created on the basis of world outlook, as well as to the need to take into account the types of knowledge - empirical and theoretical knowledge, problem, hypothesis, theory. Some other methodological tools of logic are given, for example, principles, technology. More well-known methodological tools (methods, strategies, tactics, etc.) are not considered. It is assumed that the article will cause interest among the representatives of other philosophical, and not only philosophical, academic disciplines, and a discussion of the problem of ideological and methodological components of these disciplines will continue.

Most successful Bioentrepreneurship MBA programmes are located in major metropolitan areas described as ‘biotechnology clusters’. The present study focuses on the demographics and characteristics of a private research university to determine the feasibility of offering such a programme and the appropriate format(s) for its delivery. Recommendations include that a school should not initiate a Bioentrepreneurship MBA until there is regional demand for graduates and sufficient university expertise in areas such as regulatory issues, technology transfer and bioenterprise ethics. A conservative approach would devote 1 year to curriculum and expertise development, during which the school could supplement its present MBA programme with elective courses aimed at current MBA students. A line extension of MBA with electives could also be offered to the emerging markets of (a) mid-level non-technology managers seeking biotechnology employment and (b) laboratory technicians wishing to develop business expertise. Thereafter, the school could launch an MBA programme aimed at its broader potential student market. Provision should be made for individuals not interested in obtaining an MBA to take selected courses and for those desiring a certificate. It is concluded that the issues unique to the subject area warrant its recognition as both a career and academic discipline.
