This study provides evidence about underlying motivation the director encouraged practice of earnings management. Directors of manufacturing companies in Indonesia was to be sample in this research whose companies are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research explores fourth types of motivation where are bonus motivation, political motivation, debt covenant motivation, and taxation motivation. The research method carried out using quantitative methods by questionnaire. Sample study used board of directors in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Research method analyzed by multiple regression. The results of this study reveal that the four of motivations have effect on earnings management practices. The evidence also shows that the highest directors motivation for earning management is come from political cost motivation.  Then, it followed by bonus motivation, taxation motivation and debt covenant motivation. The fact is an overview the regulation condition in Indonesia plays important role in being intervention of financial statements presented by the company, while bonus motivation is also significant for young directors in conducting earnings management practices on Indonesia companies.

Company management (agent) is the party most concerned to practice earnings management to deceive the users of financial statements so that management gain private gain (obtaining privat gains). In addition, firms with high leverage ratios are influential in performing earnings management practices because the company is in default. The existence of the principle of good corporate governance is expected to minimize earnings management resulting in financial statements do not describe the fundamental value of the company actually.The study aims at stating wheader is proves significant influence between the institutional ownership, the composition of independent commissioners, the size of the board of directors, the size of the company and the leverage on earnings management.The results of research on non-bank companies listed in LQ 45 in Indonesia Stock Exchange year 2013-2016 show that partially the composition of independent commissioners, firm size and leverage have a positive effect on earnings management. When tested simultaneously indicate that instisional ownership, composition of commissioner independent, the composition of the board of directors, the size of the company and leverage have a significant effect on  earnings management.  The size of the company is a research variable that has a dominant influence on earnings management, because the larger the size or scale of the company it will be easier for the company in obtaining funding sources, both internal and external.

Political connections have an essential role in the earnings management strategy. Political connections can influence earnings management practices. The research aimed to analyze the effect of politics and family ownership on earnings management practices. The sample is 92 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2016-2019. Methods of data using a purposive sampling method. Multiple linear regression is an analytical tool used to test the hypothesis. The results show that political connections influence profits. The company pays more attention to the company’s reputation and maintains the privileges of the political relationship that has existed between the company and the government. Family ownership affects earnings management. Family ownership has control rights that can be used to influence management in company profits. The novelty of this research is that political connections can influence earnings management.

This study aims to determine the effect of independent commissioners and audit committees on earnings management. This research uses quantitative methods. The data used in this study are secondary data, i.e. data obtained through existing sources and do not need to be collected by the researcher themselves. The data is in the form of an annual report issued by companies listed in the 2015-2017 period which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The population in this study are manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2015-2017 period. The results showed that the independent board of commissioners and the audit committee had no simultaneous effect on earnings management. This is consistent with the results of the simultaneous regression coefficient test (Test F) which shows the calculated F value is smaller than the F table, and with a determinant value of 3.1%. Partially the independent board of comissioners and audit committee has no effect on earnings management. Based on the results of the partial regression coefficient test (t test) on the variable independent commissioners and the audit committee showed a significance value greater than 0.05, so it was concluded that the two variables in this study had no effect on earnings management.Keywords: Audit Committee, Independent Board of Commissioners, Profit Management, Finance

The purpose of this study is to verify IFRS contribution by examining the presence of Accrual Earnings Management (AEM) and Real Earnings Management (REM) in the period pre- and post- IFRS implementation in manufacturing companies in Indonesia. AEM is measured by absolute value of discretionary accrual, while REM is proxied by three measurements of REM, they are abnormal cash flow operation, abnormal production and abnormal discretionary expenses. The sample is taken from Indonesia stock exchange in 2009-2011 and 2013-2015. 2012 is Indonesia adoption period and it is excluded from the sample, because it is considerated as transitory year. This study uses regression analysis and Paired t-test to compare the presence of AEM and REM preceding and following IFRS implementation. The findings reveal that IFRS adoption has significantly negative effect towards AEM and REM. It indicates that the following IFRS implementation, AEM and REM are decrease. Therefore, IFRS is able to reduce earnings management practices in manufacturing companies in Indonesia both for AEM and REM.

The Effect of Bonus Mechanisms, Tunneling Incentive and Debt Covenant on Transfer Pricing Transactions. (Empirical Study of Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2014-2018).This study aims to determine the effect of bonus mechanism, tunneling incentive and debt covenants on transfer pricing transactions in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period of 2014-2018.The sample of this research is manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2014-2018. By using purposive sampling method which consists of 6 companies. The data used in the form of financial statements with multiple regression analysis methods are processed using SPSS 23. The results of the study that the bonus mechanism affected the transfer pricing transaction with a significant value of 0.002, tunneling incentive affected the transfer pricing transaction, with a significant value of 0.004 and the debt covennat had no effect on the transfer pricing transaction with a significant value of 0.153.

This study aims to investigate the impacts of earning management on the stock returns of listed industrial firms on the Amman Stock Exchange, with the observance of (firm size and operating cash flow) as control variables for the study. In order to fulfill the purposes of this study, the researcher utilized (Jones model) and (Modified Jones model) to measure earning management through reliance on discretionary accruals as evidence of earnings management practices, and utilize (Market Return On the Stock model) to measure stock returns, and the study population was Mining and Extraction Industries firms also Food and Beverages firms listed in Amman Stock Exchange, the study was conducted on a sample of 18 firms which represents 75% of the study population for the period from 2014 to 2018, In addition to using descriptive and analytical approach to data collection, analysis, and testing hypotheses through financial statements of the firms in the study, the researcher has used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program to test the hypotheses. This study creates many results some of which are: there is an insignificant relationship between earnings management practices and stock returns for listed industrial firms in Amman Stock Exchange during the study period at the significance level of 5%, Which reflects the poor efficiency in Amman Stock Exchange and not the information contained in the financial statements issued and therefore not impact stock prices, which in turn affects the stock returns, and there is an insignificant relationship between stock returns and operating cash flow at the level of significance of 5%, In addition found significant correlation between firm size and stock returns at the significance level of 1%. The researcher presented a set of recommendations; the following are most valuable: the importance of increasing the awareness of the relevant parties about the unreliability of financial statements issued by industrial companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange in existence of the earnings management practice and not reflecting the information contained in the financial statements on prices and stock returns by holding seminars, conferences and meetings also Activating the role of audit committees further to be able to detect the practice of earnings management and decrease it.

Earnings management is a manager's deliberate action to manipulate financial statements with permissible limits with the aim of providing incorrect information for users of financial statements. The variables tested in this study consisted of independent variables and dependent variables. The independent variables tested in this study consisted of independent board of commissioners, managerial ownership, audit committee, and board of commissioners. While the dependent variable is earnings management as measured by the modified Jones model discretionary accruals. This study uses 52 data on manufacturing companies in the consumer goods sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2016 to 2019. Sampling using the purpose sampling method. All data obtained from the company's annual financial statements. The results of this research show that partially independent board of commissioners and managerial ownership have no effect on earnings management, while the size of the board of commissioners and audit committee has a positive effect on earnings management. Earnings management (EM) refers to the common use of accounting techniques in various economic settings, such as Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), to produce financial statements. This study, therefore, analyzes the effect of firm size, operating cash flow, the used IPO proceeds, earnings changes, and leverage on EM of manufacturing companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 1989 to 2013. This sector comprises the essential chemical industry, miscellaneous organizations, and consumer goods, with 63 firms being used to meet the selection criteria. The regression analysis showed that the intended use of funds and leverage had a negative and significant impact on EM. Furthermore, the process is measured using Friedlan’s (1994) Discretionary Current Accruals model with similar results found in each industry group and their insignificant differences used to regulate the level of discretionary accruals between the three sectors. This study implies that the EM level is qualitatively similar among IPO companies in the three sub-sectors examined. Accrual earnings management is a form of manipulation of financial statements on the accrual components to increase its profit in order to look good in the investors perception. This research approach discretionary  revenue published by Stubben in 2010 with two different formulas are conditional revenue models and revenue models to measure the accrual earnings management to be proxies to the performance of the company. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of accrual earnings management by discretionary revenue approach on firm performance in manufacturing companies listed on the Stock Exchange. The Results of analysis for this study were 1) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Revenue Model does not affect the Return On Asset. 2) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Revenue Model does not affect the Tobin’s q. 3) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Conditional Revenue Models effect on the Return On Asset. 4) Accrual earnings management is measured using a Conditional Revenue Models has no effect on Tobin’s q.

The existence of earnings information that is needed in the financial statements can be targeted by parties who are not responsible for carrying out earnings management practices. There are several factors that can present earnings management practices, namely audit quality, company size and leverage. This study discusses the evaluation of quality, company size and leverage on earnings management in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2016-2018. By using 117 samples of annual financial statements or financial statements of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Tests carried out using multiple linear regression. Regression results indicate the results of quality audits and firm size significantly influence earnings management. Meanwhile, leverage is not significant to earnings management. It is expected that the results of this study can add insight for users of financial statements to pay attention to audit quality and company size to avoid earnings management practices.
