Introduction. Inguinal hernia is one of the most common diseases and occurs mainly in men of working age. The development of surgery and endoscopic technology made it possible to look at this pathology from the other side and move on to pathogenetically substantiated minimally invasive methods of treatment. The aim of the study. To improve the results of the endohernioplasty in inguinal hernias by improving the techniques and determining the advantages and disadvantages of various options for positioning mesh. Materials and methods. The paper reflects the experience of 203 endovideosurgical allohernioplasty in 161 patients using transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) and extraperitoneal techniques (TEP, e-TEP). Results. Intraoperative damage to the sigmoid colon occurred twice with sliding inguinal hernias on the left at the beginning of TAPP, one injury required a laparotomy, the other was eliminated laparoscopically. When performing 55 extraperitoneal hernia repair, there were no complications. Long-term results were traced from 6 to 36 months; no relapses were identified. Conclusion. Due to its advantages, the endovideosurgical technique for the treatment of inguinal hernias is a priority, e-TEP access are easier to learn and can be used even in difficult cases, expanding the surgeon’s capabilities and is the first step to master extraperitoneal approaches to other abdominal hernias.

The extraordinary and tragic conditions that humanity has not experienced before in the modern period have become ordinary, namely, a “new normal” with the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has had frightening consequences for human health and has caused one million deaths as of September 2020. On the other hand, it has set a new standard of good habits, approaches, and benefits. Due to its global and long-term impact, this unique virus has laid the groundwork for unprecedented helping and sharing behaviors between people and countries. In this study, findings are compiled from the open-ended responses of 626 individuals, all of whom live in Turkey. Within the study’s scope, individuals were asked about the unique advantages and disadvantages of the restrictions imposed under COVID-19. While the categories of economy, social distance, and health came to the fore among the harms, the strengthening of family ties, adoption of technology, and the spread of solidarity culture were mentioned among the advantages.

Conservative treatment of congenital clubfoot is generally accepted standard in the world orthopedic practice. There are many techniques that basically include functional methods and techniques of passive correction of the deformity. We analyzed 10 years of experience in the treatment of primary clubfoot according to three techniques - Zatsepin’s method, author’s method and Ponseti method. The evaluation of treatment results in the short and long terms was carried out. Analysis of long-term results showed a statistically significant advantage of Pontseti method over the other used techniques.

Bioadhesives have much potential in the medical field as an alternative to sutures in internal surgery. They are easier to use and have better long-term results. Improvement of a new class of adhesives, tannic acid-polyethylene glycol (TAPE), was done by mixing it with gelatin, since it was found that TAPE alone could not be applied to certain internal applications like in inguinal hernia. It failed to close a fresh inguinal hernia sac. Characterization tests were done on the new material, TAPE-gelatin, which proved to have a tissue adhesion strength of 0.41 MPa which is 5 times greater than fibrin glue, good blood biocompatibility with blood clotting index of 97.46%, burst pressure strength that can withstand 1000 mL that is 10 times more than the volume in the peritoneal cavity, and cheaper, with a production cost of Php28.50, than commercially available bioadhesives, which can reach up to Php2,000 – Php30,000 per application. With its desirable properties, cheaper production cost, and large potential for scalability, TAPE-gelatin as a new candidate for medical adhesive was established.

Between 1980 and 1987 we have implanted 46 isoelastic cementless THR in 40 patients affected with rheumatoid arthritis. We have reviewed 38 hips clinically and by X-ray. The mean follow-up was 8,5 years. Harris hip scores ranged from 30.6 preoperatively to 73,4 post-operatively when reviewed. While on the other hand Merle D'Aubigné hip scores ranged from 7,06 pre-operatively to 15,59 post-operatively. All patients have been satisfied, and X-rays showed an improvement for both Charnely and Gruen X-ray score.

SummaryBilateral stapedectomy was performed in 122 cases of bilateral otosclerosis at Ulleval Hospital between 1960 and 1978. Ninety-six patients (192 ears), or 79 per cent, were re-examined in 1980. The long-term results showed that the air/bone gap was closed to within 10 db. in 142 ears (74 per cent). Twenty-four patients (25 per cent) used a hearing aid at the time of the examination, mainly because of presbyacusis.Deafness or serious sensori-neural loss ascribed to the operation was found in 21 ears (11 per cent). Immediate deafness occurred in three ears (1.5 per cent), and in seven ears (3.7 percent) the patient became deaf later. Eleven ears (5.8 per cent) had marked sensori-neural losses, but with some speech comprehension. None of the patients had bilateral deafness, but one patient was deaf in one ear, with a sensori-neural loss of 80 db. in the other.Eleven patients (13 ears) who had undergone previous stapediolysis or crurotomy, were treated as a separate group, and their results were compared with those obtained in the other patients. We have also tried to find out if there is any difference between the long-term results of surgery in the first and in the second ear.

The introduction of sex therapy two decades ago was accompanied by largely uncritical enthusiasm, with the result that too few careful evaluative studies were conducted. Those that were indicated that a weekly or twice weekly schedule of treatment sessions was best and that treatment by individual therapists was as effective as co-therapy. Some of the major prognostic factors and the long-term results of sex therapy have now been elucidated. Low sexual desire has emerged as a problem for which our now traditional methods of treatment are often inadequate and new therapeutic approaches are required. Current efforts to explore the beliefs and cognitive processes associated with erectile dysfunction are proving rewarding and are likely to enrich therapeutic interventions in the future. Attention should now be paid to the beliefs and cognitions associated with other sexual dysfunctions, both male and female.

Issues of locally advanced cancers which involve into the pathological process laryngopharynx and cervical part of esophagus remain to be actual till the present time. Unsatisfactory long-term results lead to the absence of common approaches and clear guidelines on the methods of the treatment choice (radiotherapy, chemoradiation therapy, surgery). Many researchers suppose that the foremost decision is to include surgical component into the treatment schemes of such patients. Main surgical method of the treatment is laryngopharyngectomy or laryngopharyngoesophagectomy. It depends on the extension of cancer. Different kinds of grafts (gastric, jejunal and colon) are used for esophageal reconstrution. The high frequency of complications after surgery, low survival rates are main motives for the search of effective methods of treatment.
