O açaizeiro é uma fruteira típica da região norte do Brasil, sendo a polpa de seus frutos utilizada na produção de diversas bebidas e produtos alimentares, contudo sua perecibilidade, proveniente da alta carga microbiana, tem sinalizado uma preocupação com relação à qualidade e segurança dos produtos fornecidos aos consumidores. Objetivou-se por meio do presente estudo avaliar a qualidade microbiológica de polpas de açaí comercializadas no município de Ji-Paraná, Rondônia. Para tanto foram analisadas 16 amostras, realizando a quantificação de Coliformes totais e mesófilos e pesquisa da presença ou ausência de Listeria monocytogenes. Constatou-se a presença de coliformes totais em todas as amostras, sendo que 68,75% apresentaram índice de contaminação na ordem de 102. Quanto à análise de mesófilos verificou-se que 100% das mesmas apresentaram positividade, em que que a ordem 106 foi a mais frequente com 25%. A presença de Listeria monocytogenes não foi detectada em nenhuma das amostras analisadas. Diante do exposto é importante que sejam tomadas medidas no sentido de implantarum controle de qualidade, visando garantir um produto seguro e de qualidade ao consumidor, tendo em vista que as amostras se mostraram contaminadas por Coliformes totais e Mesófilos.Palavras-chave: Região Norte. Segurança Alimentar.AbstractThe aça tree í is a typical fruit tree in the northern region of Brazil, with the pulp fruit used in the production of various drinks and food, but their perishability, from the high microbial load, has signaled a concern about the products’ quality and security supplied to consumers. The objective through the present study was to evaluate the açaí pulp’s microbiological quality sold in the city of Ji –Paraná, Rondônia. Therefore, we analyzed 16 samples, performing the quantification of total coliforms and mesophilic and tests for the presence or absence of Listeria monocytogenes. It was found the presence of coliforms in all samples, and showed 68.75% infection rate in the order of 102. Whereas the mesophilic analysis, it was found that 100% of them were positive, where the order 106 was the most common with 25%. The presence of Listeria monocytogenes was not detected in any of the samples. Given the above it is important that measures be taken to implement a quality control, to ensure a safe and quality product to the consumer, given that the samples were found contaminated with Coliform and Mesophiles.Keywords: North Region. Aims: The present work is part of a sanitary quality control of market garden products in Korhogo. The objective of this study was to know the microbiological quality of tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.) sold on the markets of the city of Korhogo. Place and Duration of Study: The analyses were carried out at the microbiology laboratory of Peleforo Gon Coulibaly University during the months of October, November and December 2020. Methodology: Germs such as molds, yeasts, mesophilic aerobic germs, total coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Clostridium were tested and enumerated on 40 tomato samples from the markets of Haoussabougou, Koko, Sinistré and the big market according to conventional microbiology methods. Results: The average loads of molds and yeasts range from 1.2x104 to 6x105 CFU/g. The average loads of mesophilic aerobic germs vary from 2.3x104 to 2.3x105 CFU/g. The highest loads recorded for Staphylococcus aureus and total coliforms were 3.1x104 CFU/g and 1.5x104 CFU/g respectively. Escherichia coli (4x101 CFU/g) was isolated only from tomatoes collected in Haoussabougou. As for the Clostridium genus, it was not detected on all the tomatoes analyzed. Conclusion: In general, the microbial loads of the analyzed samples are higher than the accepted norm. Thus, the tomatoes sold on the markets of the city of Korhogo have an unsatisfactory microbiological quality. It is advisable to clean, disinfect and rinse these tomatoes carefully with drinking water before consuming them raw.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the nutritional and microbiological quality of ready-to-eat açai, the physical and functional conditions of establishments that market this product and to verify the presence of microorganisms at handlers’ hands and nostrils. Twenty-three establishments in the city of Goiânia–Goiás were evaluated and açaí samples were obtained in two steps: before and after the training of handlers about good manufacturing practices. A decrease in the counts of total coliforms (from 26.08% to 8.7% of samples), coagulase positive staphylococci (from 78.26% to 65.2% of samples) and aerobic mesophiles (from 100% to 73.91% of samples) was observed between steps. The presence of microorganisms at handlers’ hands and nostrils did not present statistical difference between the two steps. According to the applied checklist, six items showed reduced compliance. After the training of handlers, the microbiological contamination of açaí decreased, and the presence of E coli in handlers’ nostrils was no longer observed, which highlights the importance of training about the implementation Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure food sanitary quality.

Quality control becomes an important key for companies in suppressing the number of defective produced products. Six Sigma is a quality control method that aims to minimize defective products to the lowest point or achieve operational performance with a sigma value of 6 with only yielding 3.4 defective products of 1 million product. Stages of Six Sigma method starts from the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) stages that help the company in improving quality and continuous improvement. Based on the results of research on baby clothes products, data in March 2018 the percentage of defective products produced reached 1.4% exceeding 1% tolerance limit, with a Sigma value of 4.14 meaning a possible defect product of 4033.39 opportunities per million products. In the pareto diagram there were 5 types of CTQ (Critical to Quality) such as oblique obras, blobor screen printing, there is a fabric / head cloth code on the final product, hollow fabric / thin fabric fiber, and dirty cloth. The factors caused quality problems such as Manpower, Materials, Environtment, and Machine. Suggestion for consideration of company improvement was continuous improvement on every existing quality problem like in Manpower factor namely improving comprehension, awareness of employees in producing quality product and improve employee's accuracy, Strength Quality Control and give break time. Materials by making the method of cutting the fabric head, the Machine by scheduling machine maintenance and the provision of needle containers at each employees desk sewing and better environtment by installing exhaust fan and renovating the production room.

Among the measures aimed at the effective performance of public services in a modern urban environment, one of the main is the quality control and efficiency of the work performed. Timely street cleaning is hampered by several groups of problems, including the lack of a single automated information system (AIS) control of the work performed. In this regard, there is a need to improve and automate this area. This approach will allow you to combine high performance due to the speed of the system and effective quality control of street cleaning. The purpose of this work is the study and analysis of existing information systems (is), allowing to automate the process of quality control and operational performance of the above tasks. On the basis of the conducted researches, to develop is, having coordinated with the customer (administration of the Central district of Krasnoyarsk) requirements and functionality which allow to automate this process.This article presents the main aspects of the design and software solutions for the implementation of the algorithm in the form of AIS, designed to automate the process of monitoring the cleanliness of streets in the city. The development of AIS was conducted in the PhpStorm integrated development environment in the PHP programming language.

Abstract Developing nations have a critical need to increase electricity supply. Sudan has much unrealized potential for generating solar energy, particularly in the northern region. This research study focuses on designing a 1-GW solar power station in northern Sudan using the PVsyst7.0 software program. To determine the appropriate location for the solar-energy station, 14 criteria were evaluated. This process is generic and suitable for use in any other country. The method for conducting cash-flow estimates and return on investment is illustrated in the economic evaluation. The city of Dongola, the capital of the northern state, was selected because of its high annual irradiance on a horizontal surface at ~2333.2 kWh/m2. The simulation results show that the annual optimum tilt angle of inclination for photovoltaic (PV) modules is 30°, the energy production is 1 979 259 MWh/yr and the average annual performance rate is 0.810. In addition, the electric power consumption per capita in Sudan is 269 kWh/yr, so the proposed solar power plant with 1 979 259 MWh/yr can provide energy to 7.4 million people per year annually and reduce carbon emissions by ~18 million tons of carbon dioxide per year. Economic calculations show that the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) is $0.06/kWh, the discounted payback period is ~11 years and the net present value is $635 291 000. As a result, the proposed grid-connected PV solar plant is considered economically, technically and environmentally feasible in Sudan.

Abstract Background Sustainable Development Goal 2 aims at ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture. Whilst some smallholder farmers are aware of this goal, others are not. The question that arises is whether or not awareness translates into food security. Therefore, this study assessed whether or not smallholder farmers’ awareness of Sustainable Development Goal 2 improves household food security in the Northern Region of Ghana. Methods The study used cross-sectional primary data collected from two districts and two municipalities in the region. An endogenous switching regression treatment effects model with ordered outcome was used to estimate the effects of smallholder farmers’ awareness of Sustainable Development Goal 2 on household food insecurity level. Results The age of household head, distance of households to the regional capital, membership of farmer-based organizations, access to e-extension, education, and ownership of radio are the key drivers of farmers’ awareness of Sustainable Development Goal 2. The results from the endogenous switching regression treatment effects model with ordered outcome showed that households who are aware of the second goal are more food secure than their counterparts. Conclusions It is therefore prudent for stakeholders promoting and championing Sustainable Development Goals to educate farmers on goal 2 as their awareness of the goal is critical to achieving food security.

Monitoring the microbiological quality of water used for recreational activities is very important to human public health. Although the sanitary quality of recreational marine waters could be evaluated by standard methods, they are time-consuming and need confirmation. For these reasons, faster and more sensitive methods, such as the defined substrate-based technology, have been developed. In the present work, we have compared the standard method of membrane filtration using Tergitol-TTC agar for total coliforms and Escherichia coli, and Slanetz and Bartley agar for enterococci, and the IDEXX defined substrate technology for these faecal pollution indicators to determine the microbiological quality of natural recreational waters. ISO 17994:2004 standard was used to compare these methods. The IDEXX for total coliforms and E. coli, Colilert®, showed higher values than those obtained by the standard method. Enterolert® test, for the enumeration of enterococci, showed lower values when compared with the standard method. It may be concluded that more studies to evaluate the precision and accuracy of the rapid tests are required in order to apply them for routine monitoring of marine and freshwater recreational bathing areas. The main advantages of these methods are that they are more specific, feasible and simpler than the standard methodology.
