Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine two important family roles, financial and caregiver, and their impact on four relevant outcome variables: absenteeism, partial absences, employee performance, and life satisfaction; they also explore the intervening impact of core self-evaluations (CSE) among these relationships. Design/methodology/approach – Data are collected using a questionnaire and actual employee performance data. Hypotheses were assessed in a structural model using LISREL. Findings – The results demonstrate the impact of family roles on important outcomes, such as absenteeism and life satisfaction, as well as limited support of the moderating impact of CSE. Further, life satisfaction was significantly impacted by family roles and influenced job performance. Research limitations/implications – Although the measures were self-reported, actual job performance data were collected from company records; such a design should limit the risk of common method variance (Podsakoff et al., 2003). Practical implications – Two family roles were shown to impact life satisfaction and these were positively moderated by CSE. Therefore, organization can develop family-friendly programs and policies to support employee’s multiple family roles in an effort to increase employee’s levels of life satisfaction and job performance. Incorporating CSE in the hiring process or providing employees with the skills and abilities to enhance their level of CSE should impact job performance. Originality/value – The study contributes by assessing family roles using gender-neutral measures that assess level of role engagement. It also incorporates a dispositional variable, CSE, and its relation to family roles and job performance.

Employee performance is measured by the quality of work, productivity, ability to work independently with little or no direction or follow-up to complete tasks, job knowledge, employees’ interpersonal relationships and so on. Reward systems have long been used as a strategy to motivate employees and increase their performance. Several studies have also suggested that knowledge sharing increases learning which improves employees’ job performance. Yet, in Ethiopia, several organizations haven’t done a comprehensive study on which type of reward system or knowledge sharing practice best fit them. The purpose of this study is to examine the reward system and knowledge sharing practices of two banks, Awash and Dashen, in Adama Ethiopia, and analyze the differences in their employee performance. To achieve this objective this study uses instruments based on intrinsic and extrinsic reward system and tacit and explicit knowledge sharing and their impact on employee performance. The target population are employees of Awash and Dashen bank in Adama, Ethiopia. An empirical study using qualitative data and survey method is employed to conduct this study. A convenient sample is collected from 120 employees in each bank. The theoretical and practical implications of the study are also discussed.

The objective study is to determine the success degree of the Gelaria audio media implementation in improving the students’ motoric physic at Laboratori Pedagogia Kindergarten, Yogyakarta. The method applied is the Kirkpatrick program evaluation model with qualitative descriptive analysis. The result shows that: 1) The students’ reaction indicates that learning feasibility by using Gelaria audio media is the category of highly successful (83%); 2) The students’ learning process by using Gelaria audio media indicates that the learning feasibility is also in the category of highly successful (76%); 3) Students’ behavior indicates that the learning feasibility by using Gelaria audio media is in the category of successful (50%); 4) The impact of Gelaria audio media implementation on the students indicates that the learning feasibility is in the category of successful (70%), which can be identified from various motoric-physical championships they have attended; and 5) In terms of Human Resources, infrastructures, as well as finance, the implementation of Gelaria audio media has no constraints. It can be summarized that Gelaria audio media can be implemented other Kindergardens that have relatively-common condition (induced schools). However, it is recommended that the institution developing Gelaria audio media should provide technical assistances to teachers on how to implement it, and also continuously review its implmentation syntax.
