This paper discusses the use of deep convolutional neural networks for radar target classification. In this paper, three parts of the work are carried out: firstly, effective data enhancement methods are used to augment the dataset and address unbalanced datasets. Second, using deep learning techniques, we explore an effective framework for classifying and identifying targets based on radar spectral map data. By using data enhancement and the framework, we achieved an overall classification accuracy of 0.946. In the end, we researched the automatic annotation of image ROI (region of interest). By adjusting the model, we obtained a 93% accuracy in automatic labeling and classification of targets for both car and cyclist categories.

Due to many new medical uses, the value of ECG classification is very demanding. There are some Machine Learning (ML) algorithms currently available that can be used for ECG data processing and classification. The key limitations of these ML studies, however, are the use of heuristic hand-crafted or engineered characteristics of shallow learning architectures. The difficulty lies in the probability of not having the most suitable functionality that will provide this ECG problem with good classification accuracy. One choice suggested is to use deep learning algorithms in which the first layer of CNN acts as a feature. This paper summarizes some of the key approaches of ECG classification in machine learning, assessing them in terms of the characteristics they use, the precision of classification important physiological keys ECG biomarkers derived from machine learning techniques, and statistical modeling and supported simulation.

For the continuous existence of human life, agriculture plays a vital role due to the dependency of lives of people on it for production of food. In order to meet high production rate, precision farming is required. Presently, substantial developments attained “in the field of image processing and recognition” which has being a foremost challenge earlier in the practice of Precision farming. The reduction in the growth, quality and quantity of plants is due to expansion of plant diseases. The survey literature confers various plant leaf diseases and their detections during different phases through various state of art machine and deep learning techniques. The particular emphasis in this paper is on detection and classification of plant “leaf diseases” through deep “convolutional neural networks algorithms.

Background: Medical imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis of thyroid diseases. In the field of machine learning, multiple dimensional deep learning algorithms are widely used in image classification and recognition, and have achieved great success. Objective: The method based on multiple dimensional deep learning is employed for the auxiliary diagnosis of thyroid diseases based on SPECT images. The performances of different deep learning models are evaluated and compared. Methods: Thyroid SPECT images are collected with three types, they are hyperthyroidism, normal and hypothyroidism. In the pre-processing, the region of interest of thyroid is segmented and the amount of data sample is expanded. Four CNN models, including CNN, Inception, VGG16 and RNN, are used to evaluate deep learning methods. Results: Deep learning based methods have good classification performance, the accuracy is 92.9%-96.2%, AUC is 97.8%-99.6%. VGG16 model has the best performance, the accuracy is 96.2% and AUC is 99.6%. Especially, the VGG16 model with a changing learning rate works best. Conclusion: The standard CNN, Inception, VGG16, and RNN four deep learning models are efficient for the classification of thyroid diseases with SPECT images. The accuracy of the assisted diagnostic method based on deep learning is higher than that of other methods reported in the literature.

AbstractClassification of Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus) and Aedes albopictus (Skuse) by humans remains challenging. We proposed a highly accessible method to develop a deep learning (DL) model and implement the model for mosquito image classification by using hardware that could regulate the development process. In particular, we constructed a dataset with 4120 images of Aedes mosquitoes that were older than 12 days old and had common morphological features that disappeared, and we illustrated how to set up supervised deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) with hyperparameter adjustment. The model application was first conducted by deploying the model externally in real time on three different generations of mosquitoes, and the accuracy was compared with human expert performance. Our results showed that both the learning rate and epochs significantly affected the accuracy, and the best-performing hyperparameters achieved an accuracy of more than 98% at classifying mosquitoes, which showed no significant difference from human-level performance. We demonstrated the feasibility of the method to construct a model with the DCNN when deployed externally on mosquitoes in real time.

The cell cycle is an important process in cellular life. In recent years, some image processing methods have been developed to determine the cell cycle stages of individual cells. However, in most of these methods, cells have to be segmented, and their features need to be extracted. During feature extraction, some important information may be lost, resulting in lower classification accuracy. Thus, we used a deep learning method to retain all cell features. In order to solve the problems surrounding insufficient numbers of original images and the imbalanced distribution of original images, we used the Wasserstein generative adversarial network-gradient penalty (WGAN-GP) for data augmentation. At the same time, a residual network (ResNet) was used for image classification. ResNet is one of the most used deep learning classification networks. The classification accuracy of cell cycle images was achieved more effectively with our method, reaching 83.88%. Compared with an accuracy of 79.40% in previous experiments, our accuracy increased by 4.48%. Another dataset was used to verify the effect of our model and, compared with the accuracy from previous results, our accuracy increased by 12.52%. The results showed that our new cell cycle image classification system based on WGAN-GP and ResNet is useful for the classification of imbalanced images. Moreover, our method could potentially solve the low classification accuracy in biomedical images caused by insufficient numbers of original images and the imbalanced distribution of original images.

Effective productivity estimates of fresh produced crops are very essential for efficient farming, commercial planning, and logistical support. In the past ten years, machine learning (ML) algorithms have been widely used for grading and classification of agricultural products in agriculture sector. However, the precise and accurate assessment of the maturity level of tomatoes using ML algorithms is still a quite challenging to achieve due to these algorithms being reliant on hand crafted features. Hence, in this paper we propose a deep learning based tomato maturity grading system that helps to increase the accuracy and adaptability of maturity grading tasks with less amount of training data. The performance of proposed system is assessed on the real tomato datasets collected from the open fields using Nikon D3500 CCD camera. The proposed approach achieved an average maturity classification accuracy of 99.8 % which seems to be quite promising in comparison to the other state of art methods.

ABSTRACTAnalysing the behavior of individuals or groups of animals in complex environments is an important, yet difficult computer vision task. Here we present a novel deep learning architecture for classifying animal behavior and demonstrate how this end-to-end approach can significantly outperform pose estimation-based approaches, whilst requiring no intervention after minimal training. Our behavioral classifier is embedded in a first-of-its-kind pipeline (SIPEC) which performs segmentation, identification, pose-estimation and classification of behavior all automatically. SIPEC successfully recognizes multiple behaviors of freely moving mice as well as socially interacting nonhuman primates in 3D, using data only from simple mono-vision cameras in home-cage setups.
