Amongst various differential diagnoses possible for intra-oral (palatal) mass, possibility of fibro-lipoma is extremely rare but documented in literature, and hence should be a consideration. Such patient requires thorough evaluation and step-wise approach to treat. This case study documents for a 30-year-old male patient presenting with such mass and chief complaints of post nasal drip, nasal obstruction (right side>left side) and intermittent headache for 3 years. After radiological and endoscopic examination, the mass was surgically removed in toto via dual route (trans-oral and endoscopic). Lipomas are uncommon tumors in the oral cavity, and palate being the rarest amongst them as is our case. It would be strongly advocated to keep lipoma in the differential diagnosis when evaluating a palatal mass. Also, it is worth mentioning and recommending that a careful radiological examination of large lesions arising from the palate is a must before approaching for surgery.

Oral leukoplakia (OL) is a premalignant lesion described as “a predominant white lesion of the oral mucosa which cannot be defined as any other known lesion”. OL located on the floor of the mouth, soft palate and tongue are considered as high-risk lesions, while, in other areas, they may be considered as of low malignancy risk. A Forty five years old male patient had complaints of white lesion on left lat. Surface of tongue, along with burning sensation since 4-5 months. He was diagnosed with Leukoplakia and he had taken allopathic medicine for 4 to 5 times, but it was inversely relapsed, so he was treated with Pratisarana of Bibhitaka Churna and Rasayana Churna, Yastimadhu Ghanavati as lozenges along with Rasayana tablets orally for a period of 6 months. After 6 month therapy, white lesion became disappear and no burning sensation. Thus this patient was successfully treated with above therapy with no recurrence or any complications till date.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a kind of inflammatory hyperplasia in response to chronic irritation. Here, we report a case of 64 year old male patient with PG on midline of the dorsum of the posterior third of the tongue. Its differential diagnosis, the importance of biopsy findings in establishing definitive diagnosis and about the new approaches for its treatment is discussed. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/ajms.v6i3.10619Asian Journal of Medical Sciences Vol.6(3) 2015 84-86

Nevus of Ota, a dermal melanocytic nevus, is rare in the Indian subcontinent. It presents as a brown, blue, or gray patch on the face and is within the distribution of the ophthalmic and maxillary branches of the trigeminal nerve. The oral cavity is infrequently involved in nevus of Ota. Only 11 cases have been documented in the English literature. We report a rare case of intraoral nevus of Ota in a 22-year-old male patient. This paper focuses on the differential diagnosis of oral manifestations of nevus of Ota to assist in proper followup to avert malignant transformation.

Giant cell fibroma (GCF) is a rare case with unique histopathology. It belongs to the broad category of fibrous hyperplastic lesions of the oral cavity. It is often mistaken with fibroma and papilloma due to its clinical resemblance. Only its peculiar histopathological features help us to distinguish it from them. The origin of the giant cell is still controversial. Data available is very sparse to predict the exact behavior. Hence, we report a case of GCF of tongue in a 19-year-old male. Special emphasis is given to understand the basic process of development of the lesion, nature of giant cells, and also the need for formation of these peculiar cells. Briefly, the differential diagnosis for GCF is tabulated.

Angina bullosa hemorrhagica (ABH) is a rare, benign disorder characterized by one or multiple blood-filled blisters in the oral cavity (mainly soft palate, and sometimes oropharynx) with a sudden onset, that may lead to a potentially threatened airway. The most common hypothesis of its unknown origin is mild trauma. This lesion can easily be confused with other mucosal diseases or hematological disorders. Knowledge of the condition is important for correct diagnosis and treatment. Incision of the bulla, intubation, or even tracheotomy may be indicated. Here we present a case of 35-year-old woman with a complaint of dysphagia without dyspnea. During oral examination, a blue and/or purple blister on the soft palate was present. On endoscopic examination, an edematous uvula was observed, without other abnormalities. Eventually, the blister ruptured spontaneously and healed within one week without any sequelae.

ABSTRACT Pyogenic granuloma also known as lobular capillary hemangioma is although rare but well-documented clinical entity. However, it is more commonly reported in cases pertaining to lesions of oral cavity and especially in female patients during pregnancy usually in third decade of life. But, here we report a very uncommon presentation of pyogenic granuloma arising from nasal septum in a 52-year-old male patient who presented to us with history of epistaxis and left-sided nasal obstruction since 4 months.

Oral Tuberculosis is a rare disease, accounting for less than 1% of all cases of tuberculosis. The most common manifestation is a non healing ulcerative lesion of the mucosa which is often misdiagnosed. The recent increase in the incidence of tuberculosis especially after the advent of HIV infection, combined with an emerging global resistance to anti-tuberculous drugs, warrants an increased awareness of the involvement of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in persistent or atypical lesions in oral cavity and oropharynx. Very few cases of oropharyngeal tuberculosis have been described in literature. We report a rare case of tuberculosis of soft palate secondary to pulmonary TB in an 8 year old child.SAARC J TUBER LUNG DIS HIV/AIDS, 2015 XII (2), page : 31-33

Vascular anomalies comprise a widely heterogeneous group of tumours and malformations. Haemangioma is the most common benign tumour of vascular origin of the head and neck region. The possible sites of occurrence in oral cavity are lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, and palate. Despite its benign origin and behaviour, it is always of clinical importance to the dental profession and requires appropriate management. This case study reports a rare case of capillary haemangioma on the palatal gingiva in a 14-year-old female.

Focal fibrous hyperplasia is a slow growing connective tissue tumor that frequently occurs in different anatomic sites of the oral cavity. The present case report describes the occurrence of this lesion on the ventral surface of the tongue which is hitherto least reported intraoral site, in a 11 year old male patient, which was successfully excised.

Myopia is the most common Refractive Error of the eye, seen in children, young adult & it has become more prevalent in recent years and is a cause of concern world over. On the basis of Symptoms, Myopia can be correlated with Vataja Timira w.r.t. Simple Myopia. Purpose: While performing research on Allergic Conjunctivitis it is observed that Allergic Symptoms are minimized and also there was vision improvement. Hence treated one patient of Simple Myopia for the purpose of case study for one month and reporting this case in detail. Materials & Methods: A 22years male patient came to OPD of Shalakyatantra with chief complaints of defective vision for distance in both eyes since 2 months treated with Kantakari Mula SiddhaKshira Ghrita Aschyotana. Results: At the end of study, improvement in visual acuity in both eyes were found. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that Ayurvedic approaches are helpful to control Myopia.
