There has been a dearth of research on the gastroprotective effect of Conocarpus erectus in the literature so the current study was designed to estimate the ability of Conocarpus erectus (C. erectus) leaves extract alone and in combination with omega-3 regarding gastroprotective effects. A total of 30 male rats were divided into five groups (n = 6). All animals induced gastric ulcer by 80 mg/kg of naproxen orally twice a day for three consecutive days. At the same time, the animals treated orally with 175 mg/kg omega-3, 250 mg/kg C. erectus, 80 mg omega-3 + 150 mg C. erectus, 10 mg/kg of lansoprazole, and 2 ml/kg of DMSO were named T1, T2, T3, T4, and TC, respectively. The obtained results of the present study indicated the presence of flavonoids, saponin, and tannin as active ingredients in C. erectus leaves extract. Consequently, C. erectus seemed to have the potential of chelating metals in a concentration-dependent manner. Gross and histopathology findings showed the highly protective capability of C. erectus and omega-3 against ulcerative lesion, compared to the time each was used alone. The outcomes of the current study indicated that using C. erectus alone or plus omega-3 can protect the gastric mucosa from the ulceration induced by naproxen, and the chelating properties of C. erectus.

There are many causes of leg swelling or edema. Leg edema due to systemic condition or disease demonstrates chronic, bilateral features, whereas leg edema caused by vascular disease shows more complex clinical features including secondary skin changes and ulcerative lesion, resulting in more complicated clinical outcomes with less frequent early diagnosis and appropriate management. Definite differential diagnosis might not be possible by medical history, clinical features, and physical findings. Vascular ultrasonography (Duplex ultrasound) can be used easily as a bedside diagnostic procedure and is a recommended diagnostic tool for differentiation of a non-vascular from vascular etiology in patients with leg swelling.

Tuberculosis even today remains as the most common infectious disease affecting lungs in India despite having advanced diagnostic testing and a national programme to eradicate this disease. It may present with various clinical appearances, of them tongue tuberculosis is rare and it mimics malignant lingual neoplasms on clinical examination which was rarely described in the literature. In this article we are presenting a 69-year-old patient with tuberculosis of tongue presented as a painful ulcer, so far very few cases reported

Background: The proliferating and malignant proliferating trichilemmal cysts (MPTC) are rare adnexal tumors. We report 3 cases through which we will detail the anatomo-clinical characteristics of these tumors. Cases: Two patients, 60 and 56 years old, consulted for multiple scalp nodules, one of which had changed with the appearance of a central ulceration. The removal of the remaining scalp nodules was in favor of PTCs. The third patient presented with an ulcerative lesion occupying the vertex. Skin biopsy found trichilemmal-type keratinization associated with areas of necrosis concluding with a MPTC. Discussion: The PTC is a transitional form between the trichilemmal cyst (TC) and the MPTC. The increase in the size of a TC and ulceration are sufficient signals to suspect this evolution.

Esophageal carcinosarcoma is a rare malignant tumor composed of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements. We report a case of esophageal carcinosarcoma in a 56-year-old woman with dysphagia. Esophageal ulcerative tumors were detected by endoscopy and resected by thoracoscopic esophagectomy. Carcinosarcoma was confirmed by the presence of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous tumor components. On immunohistochemistry, the sarcomatous area was positive for keratin staining, while the sarcomatous area was positive for vimentin staining. The tumor reportedly had a better prognosis than SCC of the esophagus, especially in terms of survival rate. The patient’s disease was classified as ypT3N0M0, ypStage II. No definitive diagnosis was made preoperatively. We report this case along with a review of the literature.

Atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX) is a rare cutaneous ulcerative lesion with a good prognosis. Diagnosis is difficult and is usually made by exclusion from pleomorphic dermal sarcoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Definitive treatment varies from Mohs micrographic surgery to wide local excision. We present a case of 76-year-old woman with AFX over the dorsum of her left hand. The tumour was excised and the resulting defect was reconstructed with a local second dorsal metacarpal artery perforator flap.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignancy affecting the oral cavity. OSCC presents diverse clinical features including small ulcerative lesion to a large growth. The treatment modality of OSCC depends upon the severity, progress and spread of the disease. The purpose of this case report is to emphasize the etiological factors, clinical features as well as the management protocols of OSCC.

The treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an inflammatory autoimmune disease of chronic nature, consists of medications, exercises, patient education on the disease, and rest. Unfortunately, many drugs used for RA have been recently recognized to induce oral manifestations due to either immunosuppression or antiproliferative effects. Thus, the present study reports a case of a patient who was receiving multiple medications (methotrexate, leflunomide, and sodium risedronate) for RA and developed an extensive lip ulcerative lesion not responsive to previous treatments. The lesion management was performed using only a combination of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), totalizing three laser sessions. Within 4 days, the patient no longer complained of pain and the lesion presented an advanced healing aspect. According to the current case, the combination of PBMT and aPDT seems to be a suitable alternative for the management of oral lesions in patients taking medications for RA.

Cryptococcosis is a non-contagious systemic mycosis caused by yeasts of the Cryptococcus genus, which can affect humans, domestic and wild animals. Transmission occurs through the inhalation of these airborne yeasts from contaminated environments. In domestic cats, it stands out for infection of the upper respiratory tract, of the cutaneous system, which can reach the central nervous system and still present itself in a disseminated form. Treatment is carried out through the use of antifungals such as fluconazole, itraconazole and amphotericin B for long periods. This article rehearses a case of cryptococcosis in a 10-year-old mixed breed feline with free access to the street. The animal has an ulcerative lesion in the nasal plane, nasal discharge, depression and anorexia. The diagnosis was identified through microbiological culture. Link the severity of the patient's condition to a conduct adopted for euthanasia. Early diagnosis is essential for the establishment of adequate treatment and a favorable prognosis since cryptococcosis, although rare, can be potentially fatal.
