The existing research studies have revealed that project-based learning (PjBL) has significantly helped foreign language learners enhance their cultural understanding as a result of completing their projects (e.g., Bouchouk, 2017; Hsu, 2014; Kim, 2019; Liu et al., 2006; Ngo, 2014). While these studies have congruently proved the utility of PjBL in enhancing students’ cultural awareness, none of them has measured the effect of PjBL together with a comparative and contrastive approach on students’ understanding of their home cultures. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of comparing students’ home cultures with the English cultures through PjBL on students’ understanding of their own cultures in terms of cultural products, cultural practices, and cultural perspectives. Two similar intact groups were randomly assigned to control and treatment groups. The two groups were pretested, administered two different treatments for 24 weeks, and post-tested to assess their differences. The independent sample t-tests results exhibited that the experimental group substantially deepened their understanding of their home cultures as a result of comparing them with the English cultures through PjBL. The study also revealed that while the control group significantly improved their cultural products, those in the experimental group greatly enhanced their knowledge of cultural practices and perspectives.

Critical thinking skills are important to practice early on in elementary school. It is believed that STEM based education could  trigger the students to more critical. Individuals who have critical thinking skills will be able to communicate well. Many research results show that critical thinking skills can be stimulated by applying project-based learning in class. This research aims to describe critical thinking skills based on communication skills by using STEM-based Project-Based Learning. The research is a mixed-methods study. The population of this research consisted of fifth graders of Public Primary School 3 Pakis. The research instruments used were critical thinking skills tests, communication skills questionnaires and interview guidelines. The quantitative data was selected by purposive sampling technique. The qualitative data was based on the communication skills levels: high, moderate, and low. Based on the triangulation data it shows that students with high critical thinking skills reached the aspect of analyzing arguments; the moderate level could achieved simple aspects of explanation; while the lower level critical thinker only reaches the aspect of focusing questions. The STEM approach applied in project-based learning is able to encourage students to be able to communicate verbally and improve their critical thinking skills in solving problems.

This study aims to analyze the project-based learning model on the soft skills of SMK students. The Project-Based Learning model requires students to have skills in solving a problem. The approach used in this research is quantitative using ex-post facto research, the type of correlation research. The sample used for the study was 170 students. The results of the study found a significant influence between the Project-Based Learning Model in the Network Infrastructure Administration Subject on students' communication skills, discipline, responsibility, creativity, and collaboration. Through the Project-Based Learning model, teachers are advised to often train students to complete tasks that can improve students' soft skills in other subjects.

The aim of this paper is to consider project based learning as one of the most efficient and productive methods used in teaching English as a foreign language to engineering students of Russian technical universities. Special emphasis is put on communication skills to be mastered by future engineers through project based learning. It is of great importance to note that highly developed oral and written communication skills are valuable for engineering students wishing to become successful and competitive in the international arena. Hence, engineering students must be trained well to develop their communication skills in English in the field of professional activity, mainly in the science research area. An inter-disciplinary project designed on the basis of project based learning for the second year students of Tomsk Polytechnic University is reviewed in this work. The authors come to the conclusion that project based learning is an ideal teaching method since it allows engineering students to improve significantly their oral and written communication skills as well as apply the content knowledge in the field of their professional activity within the English language course.
